Chapter 63 Flower

[It's really good.]

Li Ran stared at the bouquet for a while, then moved the bouquet and the box together to the living room.

He sat on the sofa and glanced at the three reddish-brown vases that Choi Jin-ri had sent yesterday.

To be honest, he knew nothing about flower arranging.

Should it be trimmed? How should it be trimmed? How long should it be trimmed?

He thought for a moment and sent a message to Choi Jin-ri.

Are you available to take a video call right now?

Shortly after Li Ran sent out the message, a video call invitation popped up.

The call connected, and the light on Choi Jin-ri's end was somewhat bright.

She must be outside.

"What's wrong?" Choi Jin-ri tilted her head slightly.

"How do I arrange these flowers?" Li Ran pointed the camera at the flowers in the box.

Choi Jin-ri leaned closer to the screen for a glance, then laughed, "You can't even do flower arranging?"

"I hadn't paid attention to these things before. Should I just stuff it in? Or what?"

There is a vase next to the sofa.

Li Ran picked up the vase.

"Cut the stem at an angle first, otherwise it won't absorb water," Choi Jin-ri said.

"Cut at an angle?"

"Yes, at approximately a 45-degree angle. Does the guesthouse have scissors?"

"It seems so."

Li Ran pulled a small pair of scissors from under the TV cabinet.

He propped his phone up to the side, with the camera pointed at himself.

"First, take out the eucalyptus leaves. Remove the bottom part of the leaves that's been soaking in water, otherwise they'll rot."

Choi Jin-ri was directing from the side via her mobile phone.

Li Ran picked up a stalk, flipped it over, and started peeling off the leaves.

He threw the leaves into the trash can, picked up the scissors again, and held them up to the flower stem. "Where should I start cutting?"

here?"

"Lower it a little, leave it a bit longer. Otherwise, it won't look good if it's too short when you insert it."

"Click".

"How is it?"

He held the cut flowers close to the camera and compared them.

"Okay, that's settled." Choi Jin-ri nodded.

He lowered his head again, picked up the next buttercup, and asked, "So, are you outside right now?"

"Um, I have an appointment in a bit, I'll be back in a little while." She paused for a moment, "How's Brin doing today?"

Did you eat properly?

"It's not just eating well," Li Ran smiled, "it's even started stealing food from Xiao Hei."

"Huh?" Choi Jin-ri blinked. "It actually managed to outmaneuver Little Black? It shouldn't be as strong as Little Black, right?"

"Who told Xiao Hei to be such a coward?" He shrugged.

"It's not cowardly, it's kind. Xiao Hei is a kind dog," she defended Xiao Hei.

"Tsk." He gestured with his lips.

"At that moment, Brin crawled right under the sofa. Little Black was too big to fit in, and he was so anxious outside, howling all the while."

"After Brin finished eating and came out, Little Black even went up and smelled its mouth."

"Haha." Choi Jin-ri chuckled. "It's alright. I'll buy Xiao Hei a box of snacks next time I come back. It can eat one and throw it away. That way, it won't have to worry about Brin stealing them."

"Then I guess Brin won't try to take it. It seems like it's only trying to enjoy the anxious look on Little Black's face."

"Why do you describe Brin as if it were a major villain? It doesn't have that many thoughts."

Choi Jin-ri's lips curled up slightly.

Li Ran pursed her lips. "That's not necessarily true. That little guy is cunning."

He bent down, picked up a flower, examined it, and compared its length. "By the way, your fellow villager," he said, "I went to see him a couple of days ago, and it seems one of his flowers is starting to turn red."

"Really?" She was a little surprised, her eyes lighting up.

"It's still a long way from turning completely red; it's only just begun to turn a little red," he said, bending down to trim the flowers. "I'll let you know when it's fully red."

After all, this was the reason Choi Jin-ri initially gave him her phone number:

I'll call her once her "fellow villager" gets his results.

"And what about the little dove? Are its eyes open?"

"Not yet. It won't be that fast."

He paused for a moment, "But another dove has hatched too. I went to check on it this morning, and it's a bit smaller than the first one."

"Both hatched." Choi Jin-ri's voice softened slightly. "How are they now?"

"It's still all wrinkled and doesn't look very good."

"He was just born."

Li Ran shook her head. "These days, the giant spotted doves are very protective of their young. They bristle as soon as I get close."

He gathered the trimmed flower branches to one side and began filling another vase with water.

"By the way, where's Ji-eun? Is she still at the guesthouse?"

"It seems she went to record a vlog."

He inserted the first buttercup and stepped back to take a look.

"She's been filming GG quite a bit lately." Choi Jin-ri nodded. "Has she eaten? I'm worried she's so focused on work that she doesn't eat anything."

"She eats quite well," he continued. "She even cooked herself a seaweed soup."

"Really?" Choi Jin-ri smiled. "So, what do you think of the taste?"

"Emmm," Li Ran smacked her lips, "I was too embarrassed to say it at the time, but it tasted a bit salty."

Choi Jin-ri leaned closer to the camera and defended her, saying, "I thought it tasted pretty good when she cooked it for me."

"Maybe the amounts were different." Li Ran remained noncommittal and continued to insert flowers. "But the broth was right, and the beef was stewed until very tender. It's just that the salt wasn't seasoned properly."

"She must be nervous."

"Indeed, I was standing right next to her, and she treated me like I was conducting an experiment; I didn't dare to look too long."

He adjusted the angle of the vase he was using to support it. "If you were here, she could relax a bit. You two are familiar with each other."

Upon hearing this, Choi Jin-ri pursed her lips and gently bit her lower lip.

After a couple of seconds, Choi Jin-ri said, "She's almost finished filming, right? It shouldn't be for more than a few days."

She said that's about enough.

A gust of wind slipped in through the window cracks, causing the shredded leaves cut from the table to rustle.

Li Ran lowered her head and gathered the leaves to one side, then looked at the vase again. "I feel like there's something empty in the middle."

"We can add another eucalyptus leaf, a longer one," Choi Jin-ri suggested.

He flipped through the remaining leaves of the euonymus tree and picked out a longer one to insert.

He looked at it again and felt it was indeed a little better.

He raised his phone and pointed the camera at the vase.

Choi Jin-ri looked at it for a few seconds, then said, "Okay."

"What could it mean?" He raised an eyebrow. "Does it mean good-looking or bad-looking?"

"nice."

"Okay." He straightened the vase. "Then I'll take care of the rest of the vases myself, the method is the same, right?"

"Yes, put one leaf for each type of leaf, otherwise the flowers alone will be too much." She paused for a moment, "Also, it's best to change the water every two or three days."

"OK." He nodded.

Choi Jin-ri slightly opened her mouth, as if preparing to say something.

"Sherry!"

Just then, the voice of a staff member came from the side.

Li Ran noticed this too, "If you have something to do, then go ahead and do it. I can manage on my own."

She pursed her lips, then nodded. "Yes."

After hanging up the phone, he took a picture of the arranged flowers in the vase and sent it to Choi Jin-ri.

Li Ran put her phone back in her pocket, placed the vase on the TV cabinet, took two steps back, and looked at it. It was alright.

He lowered his head and continued sorting the remaining flowers.

Brin emerged from under the sofa, went around his feet, sat down next to the flower box, and peered inside.

Li Ran glanced at it and said with a smile, "Your master bought this. What do you think? Does it look good?"

He certainly didn't expect Brin to give any answer.

It would be scary if it actually answered.

Brin licked her body with her tongue and circled the flower.
