Chapter 65 Can you hypnotize me?

"Can't we peel it again?" Lee Ji-eun asked.

"It shouldn't take too long, right?"

Hearing this, Li Ran raised an eyebrow. "Why don't you try peeling some after you finish eating?"

"Sure!" She raised her eyebrows.

"Do you have any other plans this afternoon?" he asked.

Lee Ji-eun shook her head, "I've been working for several days in a row, I definitely need to rest."

"I plan to sleep in tomorrow and wake up naturally. That way, I won't have to prepare breakfast."

Li Ran nodded, "Okay, I'll sleep in too."

"Why don't you go back to the sofa and sit down, scroll through your phone or something. It's not like you'll be able to cook dinner anytime soon."

"I mainly came to see if there was anyone I could help with." She put her hands behind her back and stood on her tiptoes slightly.

"It's not a state banquet, why do we need so many people? It's just some home-style dishes, I can manage by myself."

"With you here, I have to be careful not to bump into you while I'm cooking. You should go back to the living room first."

"Okay then." She pouted and moved back to the living room.

She sat on the sofa, picked up Brin and placed her on her lap, then gently stroked its neck.

Brin purred contentedly on her lap.

Lee Ji-eun leaned back on the sofa, scratching its chin with her fingers, her gaze occasionally glancing towards the kitchen.

So you were told you were in the way in the kitchen just now, right?

The kitchen was filled with the sounds of chopping vegetables on a cutting board, occasionally interspersed with the sound of a faucet being turned on and the sizzling of vegetables hitting the oil pan.

Brin rolled over, exposing her belly.

She gently rubbed it, and its eyes narrowed into slits, its four paws curled up in front of its chest.

Lee Ji-eun took out her phone from her pocket and scrolled through it, but didn't find anything interesting.

I don't want to reply to work messages, anyway, it's not urgent.

I'd heard all the gossip already, so it wasn't really interesting.

She scrolled through videos for a while, then turned off her phone screen, intending to take a nap.

After an unknown amount of time, the sounds from the kitchen seemed to stop.

"Dinner's ready."

Li Ran's voice woke her up.

Lee Ji-eun rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand and stood up sleepily.

"So sleepy?" Li Ran smiled when she saw her like this.

"Did you not sleep well last night, or did you get up too early today?"

She shook her head. "I don't know, but I didn't sleep very well."

She went to wash her hands first, since she had just been petting the cat.

When Lee Ji-eun came out after washing her hands, Lee Ran had already put the food on the table.

The first thing served was pumpkin porridge.

"Although the guesthouse doesn't have glutinous rice balls, it does have pumpkin and rice," he said with a shrug.

Lee Ji-eun blinked and picked up her chopsticks.

There were four dishes on the table.

First up is the ever-present scrambled eggs with tomatoes.

After all, this thing is easy to make and tastes pretty good.

The other three dishes were shredded pork with garlic sauce, eggplant with minced pork, and stir-fried greens with oyster sauce.

I also added some smashed cucumber and pickled vegetables.

If you really want to count them, you could say there are six dishes.

However, Li Ran did not have the habit of treating the side dishes as the main course.

Lee Ji-eun picked up a piece of eggplant, put it in her mouth, and nodded. "This eggplant is quite delicious."

"Really? Then I'll make more next time." He smiled.

Hearing the praise for her cooking, Li Ran was clearly in a good mood.

Rice was made for today's meal.

He took a little bit of each dish and mixed it into the rice, then stirred it.

"By the way, are you busy this afternoon?" Lee Ji-eun asked after taking a sip of her porridge.

"Nothing's usually wrong. What's wrong?" He looked at her with some confusion.

"Aren't you good at hypnosis? Hypnotize me, okay?" She blinked.

"Cough cough—" He choked a little, covered his mouth with his hand, and then looked up at her.

"What did you just say?"

"Can you hypnotize me?" she repeated.

"I've been feeling like I'm not doing well lately, and I just want to get a good night's sleep."

Li Ran raised an eyebrow.

Hypnotizing a female celebrity—that sounds like a story with a lot of intrigue.

However, his hypnotic techniques aren't that miraculous. At most, they're a kind of buff.

"I'm not a professional either," he said, somewhat amused and exasperated.

"You seemed quite adept at using Brin the other day, didn't you?"

"There are still some differences between humans and animals." He shook his head. "I haven't really tried it on humans much. The effect seems so-so. After all, the human mind is much more complex than that of animals."

"Didn't I tell you that before?"

"How will you know if you don't try?" Lee Ji-eun tilted her head slightly as she looked at him.

Li Ran blinked. "We've only known each other for a few days. You trust me that much?"

"You want me to hypnotize you right away? Lee Ji-eun, that's a bit dangerous."

Lee Ji-eun picked up her bowl, took a sip of porridge, and looked up at him. "The fact that you said that actually makes me feel safer."

He shook his head. "I'm serious."

"I was serious," she said, putting the bowl down.

"I feel you are a pretty good person."

Ok?

Li Ran scratched her brow, wondering if she had been given the "friend zone" card.

What the hell? Suddenly he's saying he's a good person.

"Besides, I don't think you're that stupid. I believe you know in your heart that the harm of having ulterior motives is far greater than the little benefit you might get." She shrugged.

"It seems your sleep quality hasn't been very good lately, so you want to be hypnotized?" He pursed his lips.

"But you're not expecting me to work for free, are you?"

Lee Ji-eun slightly opened her mouth as if to say something.

Li Ran held up her index finger and waved it in front of her eyes. "Don't even think about it! Unless you peel the peanuts for me this afternoon."

Lee Ji-eun paused for a moment, then burst out laughing.

"Didn't I already promise you? What? Are you afraid I'll go back on my word and not peel peanuts for you?"

Li Ran waved her hand, "Let's hurry up and eat. Don't let the food get cold."

The dinner table was quiet for a while.

Lee Ji-eun picked up a piece of shredded pork with garlic sauce.

Shredded wood ear mushrooms and bamboo shoots mixed with shredded meat have a sweet and sour taste with a hint of spiciness, making it a great accompaniment to rice.

She picked up some other dishes.

The eggplant with minced meat is oily but not greasy, and there's enough minced garlic that seeps into the eggplant flesh.

The greens tasted just like home cooking, nothing fancy, but the heat was just right, and the stems were still crisp.

Lee Ji-eun ate two bowls of rice.

"Even if you don't run a bed and breakfast, being a chef would be great," she said, rubbing her stomach.

Li Ran stood up to clear the dishes, and without even looking up when she heard this, she said, "Even if you praise me now, it won't help. The peanuts still need to be peeled."

Lee Ji-eun rolled her eyes. "I never intended to run away! Little peanut, it's a piece of cake!"

She yawned, feeling much sleepier after eating.

However, to prevent herself from waking up intermittently shortly after falling asleep, she decided to try Li Ran's hypnosis first.

"Where are the peanuts? Aren't they supposed to be peeled?" she asked, looking around.

"It's definitely in the kitchen! What are you looking at in the living room?" Li Ran shook her head and carried the bowls and chopsticks into the kitchen.

"Oh." Lee Ji-eun followed her inside.
