Chapter 75 Beauty
"Flip it quickly, don't let it stick to the pan."
Lee Ji-eun stirred the vegetables in the pan twice with a spatula, and they gradually softened and turned bright green.
"It's time to add salt." Li Ran handed her the salt she had on hand.
"Put in a little at a time, shake it gently, and add more if needed. Don't put in too much at once, or it will cause a commotion."
She gently shook it as he instructed, then flipped it over with a spatula.
She turned her head to look at Li Ran, "Have you come and taken a look?"
Li Ran leaned closer and glanced at it. "Take it out of the pan. It'll get overcooked if you keep cooking it."

Lee Ji-eun scooped the vegetables into a plate and then looked at them.
"Not bad." She nodded.
"You're lucky; you managed to cook it like this on your first try."
"My strength is pure skill, okay!" she pouted.
Li Ran ignored this and started firing again.
"Go and get that piece of meat from the refrigerator."
Lee Ji-eun took a bowl of meat out of the refrigerator, placed it by the stove, and peered into the pot. "Don't you put oil in this?"
"The meat will release its own oil."
As the sliced meat hit the pan, it sizzled and billowed up, causing her to instinctively take a step back.
Li Ran turned to the side and casually turned the range hood up one notch.
"What kind of dish is this?"
Twice-cooked pork.
He flipped the meat slices over, forcing out the fat and causing the edges to curl up slightly.
He took a spoonful of fermented soybean paste from the spice rack, spread it along the edge of the pot, and the red oil slowly seeped in, instantly intensifying the aroma.
Lee Ji-eun stood to the side, her eyes following the spatula.
"Guess whether it's green peppers or garlic sprouts?" he asked.
"Is there a difference?" Lee Ji-eun blinked.
"The textures are different. The garlic sprouts are more fragrant, and the green peppers are crisper."
"Garlic sprouts?"
"duang~duang
~"
Li Ran poured the chopped garlic sprouts into the pot, stirred them a few times, added some light soy sauce, stirred them a couple more times, and then turned off the heat.
Lee Ji-eun felt like she could cook it much faster than stir-frying vegetables.
It might be because he appeared very skilled, which subconsciously made people think he was very fast.
The edges of the meat slices in the pot were slightly charred.
She swallowed.
By the time Li Ran scooped the twice-cooked pork into the plate, Li Zhi'en had already picked up her chopsticks.
"We'll eat it when it's served."
"Just pick one slice." She gestured.
Li Ran shook her head and handed the plate to her.
She picked up a piece of meat and put it in her mouth.
hot.
Her cheeks puffed out, but she didn't dare to chew, and fanned her mouth twice with her hand.
Li Ran glanced at her, "I already said we'd eat after it's served."
"It smells so good," she mumbled.
She swallowed the meat, pursed her lips, and said, "Why don't you just keep making this dish from now on?"
Li Ran tilted her head and looked at her, "Even if I keep making this dish, can you keep eating it forever?"
As he spoke, he went to the kitchen to prepare the next dish.
Lee Ji-eun subconsciously nodded, intending to say yes, but after a moment she realized that this was a guesthouse, and her job certainly didn't allow her to come here to eat whenever she wanted.
She pouted.
After a while, she heard the sizzling sound from the pot again.
She peeked into the kitchen and saw Li Ran frying a fish.
The fish was dropped into the pot, and the edges immediately turned golden brown.
"Do you need my help?" she asked, leaning against the kitchen door frame.
"No need, you go set the table first."
She set out the bowls and chopsticks quickly, placing the chopsticks on the edge of the bowls.
She stepped back and glanced at it, then felt something was missing, so she grabbed a few more napkins, folded them, and placed them on the corner of the table.
The aroma of fish wafted from the kitchen, mixed with the scents of ginger and scallions.
She sat down in the chair, and her stomach growled at just the right moment.
"Is it almost done?" she called out to the kitchen.
"Wait a minute. If you really can't, you can eat the food on the table first."
She didn't say anything more, and waited with her chin in her hand.
After a while, Li Ran brought out the fish.
The fish was pan-fried until golden brown on both sides, then drizzled with sauce, and a few pieces of scallion were placed on the side of the plate.
It's even prettier than she expected.
"You can even plate food?"
"What kind of plating is this?" He sat down opposite Lee Ji-eun. "Eat."
Lee Ji-eun shoveled a mouthful of rice, her gaze sweeping over the dishes before finally settling on the stir-fried vegetables she had made.
She picked up a piece of greens, chewed it, swallowed it, and then said slowly, "I heard that the chef who made this stir-fried greens is a beautiful woman."
Li Ran was shoveling rice into her mouth when she heard this, and without even looking up, she said, "Didn't you make this yourself?"
Lee Ji-eun switched the chopsticks to her other hand, tossed her hair back, and smiled with an undisguised smugness. "Yeah."
Li Ran looked up at her and thought, "What an arrogant person."
"How do you think it tastes?" Lee Ji-eun stared at him.
"It's alright, not too salty."
"this one?"
"The cooking time is alright." He picked up a piece of stir-fried vegetables. "For my first time cooking, it's pretty good."
After hearing this, Lee Ji-eun pouted.
She pointed at him with her chopsticks, too lazy to say anything more, and went to eat her food.
Xiao Hei, without anyone noticing, came to the table with its dog bowl in its mouth.
It sat down next to Lee Ji-eun's chair, tilted its head back, and stared intently at the plate on the table.
"It's good for nothing but eating," Lee Ji-eun commented.
"It's still number one in drinking foot bath water," Li Ran said with a smile.
Lee Ji-eun rolled her eyes at him, "I think it's learned bad habits from its owner."
"Cough cough," he choked, "What does it have to do with me that it drinks foot bath water?"
"It wasn't me who drank it."
"If the upper beam is crooked, the lower beam will be crooked too. Someone's foot fetish is all too obvious."
Li Ran rolled his eyes; he was too lazy to argue anymore.
So what if you have a foot fetish?
If you want to find fault, you can always find a pretext.
Lee Ji-eun occasionally puts some food into Xiao Hei's dog bowl.
After finishing her meal, Lee Ji-eun gathered the bowls and chopsticks together and took them to the sink.
Li Ran sat down on the sofa, took out her phone and scrolled through it.
He refreshed the data in the author assistant's backend, and the number of readers following the story increased a bit. There were also a few new comments in the comment section discussing the direction of the latest chapter.
He casually replied to two chapter comments and then placed his phone face down on his stomach.
Brin circled around twice, jumped onto the sofa armrest, and then sat there watching him.
"What are you looking at?" He reached out and pressed down on its head twice.
Brin squinted, yawned, and revealed a set of small teeth.
Lee Ji-eun came out of the kitchen and sat down on the sofa next to him.
"Are you sleepy?" Li Ran didn't look at her.
"A little." She pulled her legs up. "I walked quite a bit this morning."
"Then let's take a nap."
"If I sleep, I won't be able to sleep at night." She yawned, covering her face with the back of her hand. "Just try to stay awake."
After a while, Lee Ji-eun turned her head and asked, "Are you going to be writing this afternoon?"
"Yes." He nodded. "I'm short a few words; I'll make up for it this afternoon."
"Then you can go ahead and get busy." She took out her phone and scrolled through it. "I can stay here by myself."
Li Ran stood up and stretched her shoulders.
Li Ran walked towards the bedroom, and halfway there she turned back and glanced at her.
She had already nestled into the sofa, and Brin jumped off the armrest, stepping on her legs to find a place to sit down.
She glanced down at it, then ran her hand over it and smoothed it out.
He looked away, went into the bedroom, and left the door slightly ajar.
He sat down on the edge of the bed and opened the writer's assistant on his phone.
Light slanted in through the gaps in the curtains, falling on the floor and forming a thin, bright line.
The living room outside was quiet, with the occasional soft snoring of Brin and the soft rustling of Lee Ji-eun flipping through her phone.
He lay in bed and started typing on his phone.
