Chapter 77 The Little Wooden Stick

Little Black had slipped out at some point, wandered around the yard, and finally came to their feet.

Lee Ji-eun glanced down at it.

Little Black's tail swayed gently.

What do you want to eat tonight?

Lee Ji-eun thought for a moment, "It's your decision. I'm fine with either."

"OK."

She picked up her phone again and leaned back.

Seeing that she wasn't moving, Xiao Hei simply lay down at her feet, chin touching the ground, and slowly narrowed its eyes.

Li Ran went inside to pour water.

He brought out the water glass and placed it on the table.

Suddenly, Xiao Hei opened its eyes, came over, and gently bit his arm.

"ah!"

Li Ran looked down at her arm, then at Xiao Hei.

He looked down and smelled the teeth marks on his arm, then frowned.

He grabbed its head and shook it hard.

"

""

"What's wrong?" Lee Ji-eun looked away from her phone screen and then at Lee Ran.

He raised his arm and showed it to her.

She paused for a second, then asked, "Did it bite you?"

"Um."

"Is the skin broken?"

"no."

"That's good." Lee Ji-eun breathed a sigh of relief.

She pinched Xiao Hei's face and shook it, then looked at Li Ran, "Has it bitten you like this before?"

He shook his head. "No, who knows what's wrong with it today."

He was still a little annoyed as he spoke, and tapped Xiao Hei on the head again.

"It's also possible that you bit someone else before and didn't know it?" she said, suppressing a laugh.

Li Ran stared at Xiao Hei for a while before walking towards the storage room.

When he returned, he was holding a thin wooden stick in his hand and had also taken a piece of thin rope out of his pocket.

Lee Ji-eun blinked, and before she could ask, she saw him squat down next to Xiao Hei.

He tied one end of the rope to the wooden stick and the other end to Xiao Hei's collar.

Little Black struggled slightly, but to no avail.

Li Ran tied a knot, tugged at it, and it was quite secure.

"What are you doing?" Lee Ji-eun looked at him blankly.

You'll see in a moment.

He clapped his hands and then stood up.

Little Black stuck out its tongue and looked at him, then at the wooden stick in front of it.

It took two steps outside, the wooden stick swaying as it went, bumping against the gravel path and tripping it a bit.

"Woof! Woof woof!"

Xiao Hei looked at Li Ran with a pitiful expression.

"Serves you right." He curled his lip and then stuffed the middle of the stick into its mouth.

It picked up the stick somewhat blankly, then took two more steps.

Eh?

Its eyes lit up, and it sped up, running around them twice.

Then it spat the stick out again.

Taking a few steps, I still stumbled a bit.

It picked up the stick again.

"You're quite resourceful." Lee Ji-eun looked at Xiao Hei and raised an eyebrow.

"That's right! Don't you know who I am?" Li Ran smiled.

"Does it have to carry this stick around its neck the whole time? It probably isn't very comfortable."

"Let it loosen its grip when it's eating or sleeping. Once it's gotten used to not biting, then loosen it completely."

"Oh." Lee Ji-eun nodded.

Little Blackie was still running around in the yard.

It carried the stick around in a big circle, and finally came back to her feet and lay down, placing the stick obediently on its front paws.

"It seems to like this quite a bit." She glanced down at it.

That's because it still feels fresh.

"After a while, it won't seem fun anymore."

Li Ran sat down next to her, picked up her water glass, took a sip, and then looked at the teeth marks on her arm.

It's almost sold out.

"Are you really not in pain?" Lee Ji-eun leaned closer to take a look.

"It didn't exert much force. It subsided a long time ago."

"I see." She leaned back, paused, and said, "Next time it might bite you just because it wants to play with the stick."

Li Ran looked down at Xiao Hei.

Little Black is pulling at the wooden stick with its mouth.

"Okay, then I'll prepare more wooden sticks in the future."

Lee Ji-eun couldn't help but chuckle softly.

Hearing the noise, Xiao Hei looked up at her, then turned his attention back to the wooden stick.

The stick was pressed down by it, causing one end to stick up and bounce on the gravel road.

Li Ran sat down beside it with a water glass, looked at it for a while, then turned her head and asked, "What did you say you wanted to eat tonight?"

"Anything is fine."

"Well, we need to have a general direction, right?"

Lee Ji-eun thought for a moment, "Not too greasy."

"Okay." He stood up, dusted off his trousers, and walked toward the kitchen.

Little Black also stood up, grabbed the stick, and followed along happily.

Lee Ji-eun glanced back.

A man and a dog, one in front and one behind, went into the house.

Lee Ji-eun sat outside for a while longer.

The courtyard quieted down, with the occasional sound of spatulas being stirred in the kitchen.

There was also the soft rustling of Xiao Hei's paws on the floor.

She locked her phone and looked up at the sky.

It wasn't evening yet, but the light was already dimming.

She got up, pushed the chair back, and went inside.

Li Ran stood in front of the stove, with Xiao Hei squatting beside him, a wooden stick in its mouth, its eyes fixed on the pot.

"What are you going to do?" she asked from the doorway.

"Tofu soup, and stir-fried pork. Almost done."

Lee Ji-eun pulled out a chair from the dining table and sat down, then set out the chopsticks.

The first thing Li Ran served was tofu soup.

He brought the soup to the table, then went back to serve the stir-fried meat.

Following the scent, Xiao Hei stayed close behind Li Ran.

Because it was carrying a stick, it almost tripped over the threshold when it entered the kitchen.

All the food was served, and the bowls and chopsticks were all set out.

Li Ran sat down opposite Li Zhi'en and moved the tofu closer to her. "Try it, it's quite delicious."

"Inside."

Lee Ji-eun picked up a piece of tofu, put it in her mouth, and chewed it.

Xiao Hei was standing next to them, but when it realized no one was paying attention to it, it simply lay down on the floor between them.

"What's it doing lying here?" Lee Ji-eun looked down at it.

"Waiting for food, what else can we do?" Li Ran pouted.

Xiao Hei's ears twitched, as if it realized that its owner had mentioned it.

After waiting for a long time, I still didn't see anything extra in my rice bowl.

Lee Ji-eun drank most of the soup, then put down her spoon and patted her stomach.

"Delicious!"

Li Ran smiled with satisfaction.

Which chef doesn't want to be praised?

Of course, excessive praise is not advisable. Otherwise, what if developing a terrible dish that makes someone sick?

Xiao Hei seemed to have had enough of the passive-aggressive treatment, so it raised its head and twitched its ears.

Its gaze swept between the two of them before finally settling on the edge of the table, with a hint of anticipation.

"Woof! Woof woof!"

It gently rubbed against Li Ran's trouser leg.

"Don't even think about it." Li Ran glanced down at it. "There's none for you!"

"I'll teach you to bite me!"

"You're quite vengeful," Lee Ji-eun chuckled.

Xiao Hei lay back down on the ground and sighed.

He really sighed, the kind of sigh that comes out through his nose.

Lee Ji-eun chuckled softly, unable to hold back.
