Chapter 95 Remember to tell me

Li Ran was slightly taken aback.

He scratched his brow. "You'll probably be quite busy then, right? With all sorts of work and stuff."

Choi Jin-ri shook her head gently. "It's okay. You can just come and stay at my place. That way you won't have to spend money on a hotel."

"Cough cough————"

Li Ran was frightened by her.

"Isn't that unnecessary? Don't let the paparazzi take pictures of you. It won't look good for you."

She chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Do you think I'm afraid of that?"

He remained silent, his feelings somewhat complicated.

"By the way, now that you're in Seoul, what about the guesthouse?"

"What about Blackie and Brin?" she changed the subject.

"It's no big deal if the guesthouse closes for a few days, since there aren't many people coming anyway."

He said something that sounded slightly bittersweet.

"As for Blackie and Brin, I'll most likely take them with me."

"I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable leaving them alone in the guesthouse."

"That's fine too." Choi Jin-ri nodded. "I was just missing them anyway."

"Have you decided which day to come?" she asked.

Li Ran hadn't really thought it through; it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision.

"Ahem," he gently rubbed the tip of his nose with his index finger, "I haven't decided on the specifics yet."

Choi Jin-ri nodded knowingly.

"Just call me anytime you arrive, and I'll pick you up."

"Anytime?"

He blinked, and a bold idea popped into his mind.

"Yes, anytime." Choi Jin-ri nodded.

He glanced out the window; the bright sunlight had suddenly turned dark.

But it should be fine.

He held the phone close to his ear. "Sure, I'll call you as soon as I get to Seoul, so you won't even have time to react!"

Upon hearing this, Choi Jin-ri raised an eyebrow.

"You're catching me off guard?"

Choi Jin-ri repeated it softly.

"Hey, you're not planning to call me in the middle of the night on purpose, are you?"

"That's hard to say."

Li Ran leaned against the headboard, a slight smile involuntarily playing on her lips. "What if I arrive in Seoul at 2:30 in the morning?"

"2:30 AM?"

She paused, then suddenly burst out laughing. "Guess if I believe you?"

"I thought you'd say it's okay, I'll come pick you up." Li Ran sighed deliberately, "It seems the feelings have faded after all."

"ah!"

Choi Jin-ri drawled, "Who said I wasn't going to answer?"

"Even if you really arrive at 2:30 in the morning, I will definitely go."

"At most, I'll just wear a hat and mask and sneak out to pick you up."

Li Ran didn't respond for a moment.

He just said it casually and didn't think she would agree.

Choi Jin-ri suddenly added, "But you'd better tell me beforehand."

"At least let me wash my hair."

Li Ran couldn't help but burst out laughing, "Your request is quite specific."

"Of course!" she said matter-of-factly. "What if the first thing you say to me when you see me is—"

She paused for a moment, then began to mimic the tone of Li Ran she had imagined, "Oh my, Choi Jin-ri, why is your hair so messy?"

"How could I be that rude?" Li Ran chuckled.

"You do," she answered very quickly.

Li Ran choked for a moment.

"Okay, I'll send you the flight information before boarding, alright?"

"That's more like it."

She nodded in satisfaction.

After they finished speaking, the two fell silent.

Li Ran leaned against the pillow, listening to the soft breathing on the other end of the phone, her gaze unconsciously falling out the window.

The sky had become even more overcast at some point.

The wind made the trees by the window sway gently.

Choi Jin-ri suddenly spoke up: "But seriously—"

"Um?"

"If you really come," she paused, as if considering her words, "I think I'd be quite happy."

Li Ran was slightly taken aback.

"Okay," he nodded, "you just wait. I'll let you know when the time comes."

"It's getting late, shall I hang up?"

"Inside."

After hanging up the phone, Li Ran was still a little dazed.

He stared at the ceiling for a while, lost in thought.

"Woof! Woof woof!"

Just then, Xiao Hei, who had been nestled by the bedside, called him back from his daze.

"Are you hungry? Okay, I'll go get you something to eat." With that, he slipped on his slippers and headed towards the kitchen.

When he left the room and entered the living room, he was somewhat surprised to find Lee Ji-eun sitting on the sofa scrolling through her phone.

"You got up so early?"

Hearing this, Lee Ji-eun looked up at him and said, "It's getting late, isn't it? It's almost eleven o'clock."

Li Ran scratched her eyebrows. "I remember you said last night that you were going to sleep in. I thought you were going to sleep until the afternoon."

She shook her head. "It's not that bad, I have to catch my flight."

"What time is your flight?" he asked curiously.

"One o'clock in the afternoon, I guess." She took out her phone to confirm.

"It's still early." He nodded.

"I'm almost ready to make lunch, want to grab something to eat together?"

Lee Ji-eun glanced at the time, then nodded, "Okay!"

Li Ran went into the kitchen and rummaged through the cupboard to find a bag of dog food.

Little Black circled around his feet twice, its tail wagging rapidly, its paws making soft rustling sounds on the floor.

"What's the rush? It's not like we haven't fed you."

Li Ran pursed her lips, squatted down and poured some dog food into its food bowl, then casually rubbed Xiao Hei's head.

Of course, he didn't forget to fill Brin's food bowl with cat food.

Li Ran rolled up the bag and stuffed it back into the closet.

Li Ran stood up, brushed the crumbs off her hands, and turned to look towards the living room.

Lee Ji-eun sat cross-legged on the sofa, holding her phone in front of her, her thumb slowly swiping the screen.

He didn't have any particular expression; he was probably just browsing the news or looking at some social media platform.

He looked away and opened the refrigerator to check the contents.

"How about tofu soup?" he called out towards the living room.

"Anything is fine," Lee Ji-eun's voice came from the living room.

Li Ran took out pickled vegetables and tofu from the refrigerator, and then took out the remaining bit of pork belly.

He put the things on the stove and turned to wash the rice.

The kitchen was quiet for a few seconds when the rice cooker lid was closed.

"Drip, drip, drip."

The faucet wasn't turned on tightly just now, it's been dripping every few seconds.

He turned the handle, and the ticking stopped.

The tofu and pork belly in the pot sizzled as the fire licked at them.

Li Ran used her chopsticks to flip the meat a couple of times, and the edges of the meat slowly curled up.

He added water to the pot, then cut the tofu into small pieces and put them in, before covering the pot with the lid.

"When would be a good time?"

Lee Ji-eun's voice suddenly came from behind him.

He was immediately jolted awake.

"You startled me," Li Ran said, turning around in an annoyed tone.

Lee Ji-eun had entered the kitchen at some point and was standing next to the pot, staring at it.

"They say if you have a clear conscience, you have nothing to fear. What are you so scared of?" She pouted.

Li Ran rolled her eyes. "The problem is, even ghosts aren't as elusive as you. You barely make a sound when you walk."

"Tch." Lee Ji-eun wrinkled her nose.

He shook his hand and didn't make a fuss.

"By the way, have you packed your luggage yet?" he suddenly remembered and asked.

"It was all packed up last night."
