All the heavens, starting as the ruler of the universe
Chapter 12 Changes the Plot
Liu Ming remembered that You Lingfeng had told him about the plot of The Wandering Earth.
Han Zi'ang will die in this icy rift valley.
He gripped the steering wheel, his gaze sweeping over the tired face reflected in the rearview mirror.
Han Ziang leaned back in his seat, his eyes half-closed, his face showing exhaustion from surviving the ordeal.
The transport vehicle roared into the ice rift valley, with towering ice walls on both sides that seemed to be two giant blades about to close at any moment.
Liu Ming withdrew his gaze and stared at the road ahead.
He knew this icy chasm was dangerous, but he still drove in.
Where in this world is there no danger?
A known danger is not so scary after all.
Just then, the vehicle's communication device suddenly went off.
"Warning! Major earthquake warning! Repeat, major earthquake warning!"
Liu Ming looked up abruptly; in the rearview mirror, the road he had come from was collapsing.
Huge blocks of ice broke off from the ice walls on both sides and crashed into the valley floor, kicking up a cloud of ice shards.
The cracks seemed to come alive, spreading wildly along the ice wall and chasing after their car.
"Hurry up!"
Liu Ming floored the accelerator, and the transport vehicle roared like a wild beast as it surged forward.
Screams and crashes came from inside the carriage, and Han Ziang was jolted and slammed into his seat.
The communicator was in complete chaos.
"Car number two! Car number two! Speed up!"
"It's too late! The back has collapsed!"
"ah--!"
A scream rang out, and then only harsh static filled the communicator.
Liu Ming gritted his teeth, staring at the road ahead, not daring to look back.
Behind them, the collapse was happening at an astonishing speed. Huge chunks of ice crashed down, some grazing the rear of the car as they fell, while others collided with each other and shattered into even more fragments that shot outwards.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
One loud bang after another, like the footsteps of death.
Liu Ming floored the accelerator and spun the steering wheel wildly as he raced for his life through the collapsing ice rift valley.
I don't know how long I was in the water, but the shaking behind me finally stopped.
The road they came from was completely blocked, with huge blocks of ice piled up like small mountains. The road ahead was also blocked, so much so that even people couldn't pass, let alone transport vehicles.
They were trapped in the middle.
Captain Wang Lei's voice rang out: "Everyone, get out of the vehicles and check your equipment."
Liu Ming put on his protective suit and grabbed Han Ziang, who was about to get out of the car: "Don't rush, Uncle Han, fill up your oxygen tank first."
Han Ziang looked at the oxygen level of less than 50% on the display screen of his protective suit, and his body, which was already exhausted by a series of disasters, broke out in a cold sweat.
"Thanks, Xiao Liu." Han Ziang's voice trembled as he quickly took out a spare oxygen cylinder from the car and hurriedly changed it.
Liu Ming jumped off the car, his feet crunching on the ice.
Captain Wang Lei stood at the forefront, looking up at the ice walls on both sides, and then at the blocked roads in front and behind him.
"Zhou Qian, report the status of the flint."
"The flint is intact." Zhou Qian looked at the flint emitting a dark red light in the carriage and felt that the red color was particularly dazzling.
"What about casualties?" Wang Lei's voice was devoid of any emotion.
"The entire crew of vehicle number two has perished." Zhou Qian's voice was already tinged with tears.
"Liu Zi, have you found the exit?"
"Boss, this building is still relatively intact. We can try to go up from the inside." Liu Zi pointed to the building that was frozen in ice.
Liu Ming followed his gaze.
It was once a skyscraper, but now only the upper half is visible above the ice.
The glass curtain wall was already broken, and the steel frame structure was twisted and deformed, but the main frame was still there, and a thick layer of ice covered the surface, so it looked relatively intact.
Wang Lei walked over quickly, stood downstairs, and looked up at the view.
"Can you climb it?"
"I checked. Although the stairs inside collapsed, the elevator shaft is still intact. We can go up through the elevator shaft and then pull the flint up."
Wang Lei nodded and turned to look at the crowd.
"Everyone, take the necessary equipment, abandon the vehicle, and climb the stairs."
Zhou Qian wiped her eyes, but her hands were blocked by the transparent protective mask.
Liu Ming walked up to Han Zi'ang: "Uncle Han, Liu Qi and Duoduo, are you alright?"
Han Zi'ang waved his hand: "My old bones are still alright, as for the two younger ones..." He turned to look at Liu Qi and Han Duoduo.
Liu Qi held Han Duoduo in his arms. The little girl's face was pale, but her eyes showed a stubbornness. Liu Qi had recovered, but he was staring at the building, lost in thought.
"Ming-ge, are we really going to climb that?" Liu Qi asked.
Liu Ming nodded: "Both the front and back roads are blocked, this is the only way."
Tim leaned closer, looked up at the frozen building, and swallowed hard. "Guys, I'm afraid of heights..."
"Then you can stay here." Liu Qi rolled his eyes at him.
"No, no, no, I'll go with you!" Tim immediately changed his mind.
After everyone followed Huoshi into the building, Wang Lei had already led his men up the elevator shaft to the 79th floor and set up the hoisting equipment.
Although it's called a lifting device, its power source is entirely provided by two soldiers wearing powered armor who hold steel cables.
As the steel cable descended the elevator shaft, Wang Lei's voice came through the communicator: "Gangzi, Zhou Qian, get the firestone."
"Wait!" Liu Ming stopped Gangzi, who was about to act.
"Let's send the men first," Liu Qi jumped out as well.
Gangzi tugged at the steel cable, but found that Liu Ming, who was holding onto the cable, did not move at all.
Unconvinced, Gangzi increased the output of his power armor, but Liu Ming on the other end of the cable still didn't react.
Zhou Qian's eyes widened. The power armor's power meter had already spiked to 80%. It could move not only a person, but also a ton of supplies.
Liu Ming stood there, his feet motionless, and merely glanced at him indifferently.
"Let's send people first," Liu Ming repeated, his tone calm, yet leaving no room for argument.
Wang Lei's voice came through the communicator: "Let's go together."
Gangzi reluctantly loosened the steel cable and stared at Liu Ming for several seconds, while Zhou Qian's gaze swept over Liu Ming.
Liu Qi jumped over and patted Liu Ming on the shoulder: "Brother Ming, you're awesome."
Tim shrank back, muttering under his breath, "This is definitely an alien..."
"Stop talking nonsense, who's going to go with Firestone first?" Zhou Qian glared at Tim.
"Uncle Han, you go first," Liu Ming said.
"No, let Liu Qi and Duoduo go up first." Han Zi'ang was still worried about the two of them.
"If you keep being so modest, I'll go first." What Tim really wanted to say was why he couldn't go first.
"Uncle Han, you're the oldest here, you go first. I'll take good care of Liu Qi and Duo Duo."
"Hurry up, we don't have much time left. Lao Han, you go first," Wang Lei ordered.
In the end, Han Ziang and Huoshi were the first to go up.
One, two, three followed, until Liu Ming came up, and only Gangzi and another soldier were below.
The two grabbed the steel cable and were pulled up little by little.
Until a piercing metallic tearing sound rang in everyone's ears.
On the 79th floor, the support bracket for fixing the lifting device on the elevator car base is deforming, and the base of the bracket is being pulled out little by little.
"Oh no!" Wang Lei's shout came through the walkie-talkie, "The support frame is coming off!"
No sooner had the words been spoken than the car base could no longer bear the weight and shattered, causing the lifting device to fall directly into the elevator shaft.
"what!"
The two soldiers holding the steel cable activated their powered armor at full power and pulled the two people who were falling into the elevator shaft back to safety.
"Hold on!" Wang Lei shouted.
Just after Wang Lei shouted those words, something even more terrifying happened.
The elevator car, which served as the fixed base and weighed several tons, also loosened.
With a loud crash, the elevator car's locking mechanism failed, and it crashed down onto the two people in the elevator shaft.
Just then, Liu Ming made a move.
He rushed over instantly, so fast that he left afterimages. His feet were half-suspended in the air, but he stepped onto the floorboards and used his waist to pull the falling car back up.
He gritted his teeth, his muscles bulging, his blood vessels throbbing as if they were about to burst.
"Quickly...pull!"
"What the hell are you all standing there for! Help!" Wang Lei grabbed the steel cable immediately and activated his power armor at full power.
Liu Qi was the first to rush over, followed by Zhou Qian, then Tim, and finally the technicians. Seven or eight of them worked together to hold the damned elevator car back.
The steel cable was pulled up inch by inch.
The two were pulled up little by little.
Ten meters, five meters, three meters...
Finally, the two climbed onto the platform and collapsed on the ground, panting heavily.
"Let go!" Wang Lei shouted.
Everyone let go at the same time.
The elevator car crashed down, plunging deep into the bottom of the building and sending up a shower of ice shards.
Liu Ming's legs went weak, and he knelt on the ground.
"How are you? Are you alright?" Zhou Qian ran over and looked at the real-time monitoring data on Liu Ming's protective suit.
"It's nothing, I'm just a little exhausted." Liu Ming gasped for breath, his trembling hands reminding him that he had really done it.
This one-time body enhancement drug really didn't disappoint him; his physical abilities were almost on par with Captain America's.
Zhou Qian squatted down beside him, her brows furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly: "What exactly happened to your body...?"
"Zhou Qian." Wang Lei's voice interrupted her.
"Come over here and check on the two of them." Wang Lei glanced at Liu Ming lying on the ground, then at Gangzi, who had just been rescued.
Zhou Qian paused for a moment, then got up and walked towards Wang Lei.
Liu Ming propped himself up on his knees and stretched his shoulders.
The body strengthened by the drug recovered quickly; the feeling of exhaustion from before had subsided considerably.
He glanced at Wang Lei, somewhat surprised; he had thought Wang Lei would cause him trouble.
After all, the physical abilities he just displayed have exceeded the scope of humans in "The Wandering Earth".
But Wang Lei didn't ask anything.
Liu Ming thought about it again and understood—in this world, the United Government was the one who truly knew about the existence of aliens.
Wang Lei did not supervise or interrogate him, probably because he had just rescued two team members.
This life-saving grace is more valuable than anything else.
Wang Lei stood up and walked up to Liu Ming.
Liu Ming looked at him without flinching.
The two stared at each other for a few seconds.
Wang Lei suddenly extended his hand: "Thank you."
Liu Ming was taken aback for a moment, then grasped his hand: "It's my duty."
Wang Lei released his grip, turned to look at everyone: "Everyone, pack your gear and get ready to go. The flint is still here, the mission continues."
"Boss, there's a distress signal not far ahead. Maybe we can find a transport vehicle there." Liu Zi walked over with a navigation device.
"Then let's go to the distress signal." Wang Lei also knew that without a transport vehicle, even if the group used up all their power, they wouldn't be able to go very far with the flint in their powered armor.
The team descended onto the ice field from the other side of the building and headed towards the source of the signal.
The ice field was deathly silent, with only the crunching of the snow underfoot.
After walking about two kilometers, Liu Ming suddenly stopped.
What did he hear?
It wasn't the voice from the communicator, but from afar—a cracking sound, the clanging of metal, and faint screams.
"Something's up," he said.
Wang Lei raised his hand, signaling the team to stop. He listened for a few seconds, then his expression changed.
"Fight. There's fighting ahead."
The words had barely left his mouth when a frantic cry erupted from the communicator: "...SOS! We are CN171-09 Rescue Team! We are under attack by ground rebels! Repeat, under attack by rebels! Requesting support! Requesting..."
The signal is lost.
Wang Lei waved his hand: "Leave the flints where they are. Non-combatants, stay here. The rest of you, move forward quickly!"
Han Zi'ang stayed behind with Liu Qi and Han Duoduo, while Liu Ming followed.
Two minutes later, they saw the battlefield.
Three transport vehicles were parked haphazardly on the ice field, some burning and others overturned.
A dozen or so people lay on the ground, some wearing rescue team uniforms, others in haphazard protective suits. Blood had congealed into dark red ice on the surface.
A dozen or so people dressed in various modified protective suits were frantically attacking a crashed plane.
They had guns, homemade Molotov cocktails, and even melee weapons.
Rebels.
Wang Lei's face instantly darkened.
"Battle formation!"
The soldiers immediately scattered and sought cover to raise their guns.
The rebels reacted quickly, immediately turning their guns in this direction and firing. The bullets hit the ice, sending up a spray of ice shards.
Liu Ming crouched behind an ice rock, staring at the battlefield ahead.
He was physically strong, but he didn't have a gun.
Wang Lei realized that the group's target was the flint inside the transport vehicle and shouted, "Suppressive fire! Don't let them get close to the flint!"
Liu Ming opened the group chat message panel: "Brother You, can the guns you listed be used in extreme cold weather of -84°C?"
You Lingfeng replied quickly: "That won't work, but I can provide you with a firearm that can be used in low-temperature environments."
A few seconds later, a new item appeared in the group store.

Inventory: 1
Liu Ming's eyes lit up.
After purchasing the enhancement potion, he had just enough Source Points left to buy the gun.
Liu Ming clicked to confirm the purchase, and the next second, a long, rectangular metal box appeared out of thin air in his arms.
Upon opening the box, inside lay a silver-white firearm with a rugged design and a barrel that was two sizes thicker than that of an ordinary rifle.
The gun was covered with densely packed runes, and there were three egg-sized bullets next to it.
You Lingfeng also posted the usage instructions in the group: "The safety is on the side of the stock. Open the rear chamber to load the bullet, aim, and pull the trigger."
Liu Ming grabbed a bullet, put it into the magazine, released the safety, and aimed the gun.
Just then, a rebel soldier poked his head out from behind a bunker and started firing in their direction.
Liu Ming pulled the trigger.
