All the heavens, starting as the ruler of the universe
Chapter 19 Zod
Blood was still dripping from the corner of Kara's mouth, but a smile curved her lips at that moment.
Zod's fist hovered in mid-air. He didn't make a move immediately, but instead turned his head in the direction of Kara's gaze.
A white light exploded in the sky above the battlefield.
It wasn't an explosion, it was a blossoming.
Like a flower blooming in the void, its light spread in all directions, enveloping the entire sky.
Everyone who was fighting stopped—Barry and Barry 2.0 peeked out from behind the rubble, Batman's fighter jet hovered in mid-air, and the Kryptonian warrior holding Fiona froze in place.
As the light faded, a figure hovered in the air.
This clone of Lin Yan changed his usual ordinary appearance and instead wore an ancient Chinese robe.
His long robe fluttered in the wind, making him appear as if he were an immortal descending to earth.
When Lin Yan's eyes swept across the battlefield, everyone felt as if their hearts were being gripped by something.
It wasn't fear, nor was it pressure; it was something more fundamental—like being looked at by a higher-dimensional being.
Zod's pupils contracted.
He had sensed many powerful enemies—Kryptonian military commanders, various threats in the universe, and even the destruction of his own home planet.
But he had never perceived such a thing.
The person stood there, without any energy fluctuations or aura, just like an ordinary person, but his intuition was screaming.
Kara looked at the figure and smiled. "Brother Lin."
Lin Yan glanced at her, his brows furrowing slightly. "She's badly injured."
"He's alright, he won't die." Kara wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, pointed at Zod, and said, "He's yours?"
Lin Yan did not answer; he looked at Zod, his gaze calm.
Zod hovered in mid-air, his armor shattered, his exposed skin gleaming golden in the sunlight. His power continued to grow, increasing with each passing second.
"You're the helper she called?" Zod asked, his voice low. "I can sense you're no ordinary person, but do you think you can beat me?"
Lin Yan did not answer. He simply stood there, looking at Zod.
Zod waited a moment, but received no response. His eyes turned cold: "Not going to speak? Then never speak again."
The next instant, he moved, so fast that even Batman's eyes couldn't keep up.
One punch.
Zod's fist slammed into Lin Yan's face, carrying enough power to shatter mountains.
The air exploded on his fist, producing a piercing roar.
Then Zod stopped, unable to move forward an inch when he was two meters away from Lin Yan.
Zod's pupils contracted sharply, and he raised his foot and lashed out at Lin Yan with a whip kick.
The result was the same; they still couldn't get close to Lin Yan.
"You—" Zod raised his head and looked at Lin Yan.
"Your power is strong," Lin Yan said calmly, "but not strong enough to challenge the rules."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Yan reached out and made a grasping motion, then suddenly swung his hand downwards. Zodby slammed into the ground even faster than when he came, creating spiderweb-like cracks in the ground.
"Do you want to do it yourself, or should I help you?" Lin Yan asked Kara.
Kara paused for a moment, looked down at her battered body, then at Zod's tense face in the smoke and dust, and suddenly smiled: "I want to fight myself."
Lin Yan nodded: "Then we'll do it ourselves."
He raised his hand and touched Kara's forehead with his fingertips.
Then Kara felt like the whole world had changed.
It wasn't an increase in power, but a change in the nature of power. The sunlight, the amplification from the bull talismans, and the energy she had desperately absorbed were all reignited at this moment.
Every cell in her body was cheering, burning, releasing, and exploding.
A blinding white light erupted from her body, and the wounds healed at a visible speed, with torn muscles regrowing.
Zod's expression changed. "This is impossible—"
Kara looked at him, a smile playing on her lips.
"Now, it's fair."
She moved, faster than Zod, and then punched him in the face, sending Zod flying and crashing through two buildings.
Before he even landed, Kara appeared behind him and kicked him in the back, sending Zod crashing back into the same deep crater.
"Zzz."
Two scarlet lasers shot out from the pit, and Kara met their gazes directly, returning the favor with two lasers of her own.
Zod stood on the ground, Kara flew in the air, and an astonishing heat erupted at the intersection of the four lasers, which continued to move towards Zod on the ground.
"what!"
Zod roared, but it did nothing to change the situation. Kara's laser struck the unprotected Zod directly, scorching his chest black.
"You..." Zod gasped for breath, staring intently at Kara, "How could you—"
She threw a punch. Zod crossed his arms to block, but was blasted away and crashed into the bottom of the Kryptonian mothership.
The mothership trembled violently, and a large section of its surface armor dented.
Kara caught up and rained down punches: "So you want to kill me, huh? If I hadn't just been out in the sun, do you think I'd be afraid of you?"
Zod was forced to retreat step by step, and pieces of his armor fell off one by one.
He tried to retaliate, but before he could throw a punch, Kara's fist had already slammed into his face.
"Enough!" Zod roared, unleashing all his power and knocking Kara back several steps.
He hovered in mid-air, covered in blood, but the fear in his eyes had vanished, replaced by a kind of madness.
"Who do you think I'm doing this for? I'm doing it for the future of Kryptonians!"
Zod roared, abandoning all defenses, and charged toward Kara.
Kara did not dodge.
She raised her right hand and clenched her fist.
Zod rushed to her.
Kara threw a punch.
"boom!"
The moment the two fists collided, a shockwave appeared on the battlefield, causing dust to rise from the ground and knocking some people to the ground.
As the smoke cleared, everyone stared at the center of the battlefield.
Kara was still standing.
Zod knelt on the ground, his fists hanging at his sides, his entire arm trembling.
He looked up at Kara, the madness in his eyes gradually fading, replaced by an indescribable meaning.
Kara looked down at him without speaking. She could feel the power surging within her, like an ever-burning star.
Lin Yan gave her not only strength, but also a change.
Zod struggled to stand up, but his legs wouldn't obey him. He knelt on the ground, looked at his shattered armor and the wounds all over his body, and suddenly laughed.
"I've been planning for Krypton for decades," he said, his voice hoarse. "I've traveled countless light-years, following your signal to this planet. I thought I could rebuild Krypton, I thought I could bring my race back to life..."
He looked up at Kara: "Since I've failed, then please live well."
Kara looked down at him and remained silent for a second.
"I will," she said, "but not for Krypton."
Zod's eyes were wide open, his lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but no sound came out until his last breath was extinguished.
The battlefield fell silent.
Barry poked his head out from behind the rubble, his mouth agape enough to fit an egg.
Number Two, Barry, also poked his head out; the wound on his arm was still bleeding, but he had forgotten the pain.
Batman's fighter jet hovered in mid-air, and no one spoke.
"What about them?" Kara asked, looking at the Kryptonian warriors who had stopped fighting.
Lin Yan's voice came from behind: "Let them go."
Kara turned to look at him.
Lin Yan looked at the mothership calmly: "Zod is dead, and his second-in-command is useless. They can't cause any trouble."
The Kryptonian warrior looked up, glanced at Lin Yan, and then at Fiona in his arms.
He didn't speak, but simply carried her towards the mothership. The mothership's hatch opened, he climbed inside, the hatch closed, and the mothership slowly rose, accelerated, and disappeared outside the atmosphere.
Kara stood in the center of the ruins, gazing in the direction where the mothership had disappeared. Barry and his companion also appeared beside her in a flash, and Batman stepped out of his fighter jet.
"It's finally over." Barry Number Two looked at all of this and felt that his experience over the past few days was a bit too dreamlike. He had transformed from an ordinary person into a hero who saved the world.
"How does it feel?" Barry joked about his parallel universe counterpart.
"Not bad... well, to be precise, it's fantastic!" Barry's smile couldn't be more obvious.
Kara was about to turn around when she suddenly sensed something. She looked up sharply and gazed at the center of the battlefield.
There, the air is distorted.
Space trembled, time wailed, as if something was squeezing into this world from a very, very far place.
Barry's face changed; his Speed Force was flashing warnings, every nerve screaming. "What...what is this...?"
A black bolt of lightning cleaved through the void. It wasn't the golden lightning of Barry's kind; it was black, like a festering wound, like congealed blood.
Lightning struck the ground, blasting open a bottomless crater, from which a figure slowly rose.
The man was hunched over, his body covered in a layer of black grime, as if he had crawled out of a garbage dump of time.
His face was covered in grime, with only his eyes showing—scarlet, like two burning lumps of coal.
"You guys..." His voice was hoarse, like rusty iron scraping against each other, "What are you still dawdling about!"
Barry stared at the man, his pupils suddenly contracting.
He recognized those eyes, recognized that aura—it was the same person who had brought him here from the time tunnel.
"Who are you?" Barry's voice trembled.
"Hahaha, you actually ask me who I am?" Reverse Flash laughed loudly. "I'm the monster you created yourself."
After saying this, Reverse Flash transformed into black lightning and arrived in front of Barry in an instant.
His speed was astonishing, faster than Zod, faster than Kara, and even faster than Barry in his prime.
Black lightning danced around him, as if trying to devour all light.
Barry's pupils contracted sharply, and he instinctively stepped back, but Reverse Flash's arm blade had already stabbed towards him.
Barry narrowly dodged, but the next strike from Reverse Flash followed, leaving Barry only able to dodge passively and no time to retaliate.
"Is that all you've got?" Reverse Flash's voice came from all directions. "You created the strongest monster, yet you can't even fight back?"
Barry Number Two gritted his teeth and charged forward, blue lightning leaping across his body. He wasn't slow, but against Reverse Flash, he was like a child who had just learned to walk.
Reverse Flash didn't even turn around; he simply waved his hand, and a black lightning bolt blasted Barry Number Two away, sending him crashing into a rubble.
The next second, Kara moved.
Her speed was astonishing. With Lin Yan's enhancement, she could barely keep up with Reverse Flash's speed. She rushed in front of Reverse Flash and punched him in the face.
Reverse Flash dodged to the side, then struck Kara's shoulder with a bolt of lightning. Kara groaned and was knocked back a few steps, but she didn't fall. Instead, she steadied herself and charged forward again.
"Interesting." Reverse-Flash's crimson eyes stared at Kara. "But not enough."
The two figures clashed on the battlefield, golden light and black lightning collided, creating shockwaves in circles.
That's enough.
Lin Yan instantly appeared beside the two, grabbing one of them with each hand and blocking their path.
"Barry, look over there." Lin Yan raised his hand and pointed gently.
"Barry?" Kara was taken aback. He was also Barry?
Reverse Flash followed his finger and looked over.
He saw Zod's corpse, the mothership that was disappearing, the Kryptonian warriors who had stopped fighting, and the devastated battlefield.
Reverse Flash's pupils trembled.
His gaze swept across the battlefield, across the battlefield he had seen countless times.
All those timelines he had gone through countless times, all those causes and effects he had meticulously calculated, collapsed at this moment.
"No...it can't be..." His voice trembled. "I've been through this countless times, and every time it's the same result, every single time..."
"You succeeded every time?" Lin Yan interrupted him. "But not this time."
"It's you! It's you, isn't it? I've never seen you before!" Reverse-Flash Barry shouted hoarsely.
"This time the outcome is different, Barry, you should rest." Lin Yan looked at him, didn't say anything more, just nodded slightly.
Reverse Flash fell silent, his hunched back trembling slightly in the wind.
The black grime peeled off his body, revealing the pale skin underneath.
His face was revealed—a tired, aged face with sunken eyes and chapped lips, like that of an old man who had lived for a very, very long time.
"I ran for so long..." he murmured, "I killed so many people... I thought that as long as I ran fast enough, I could go back to the past and change everything..."
He looked down at his hands, which were trembling like withered branches in the wind.
"But every time, I failed. Every time, I was the monster hiding in the cracks of time."
He looked up at Barry.
"Do you know why I hate you?" His voice was harsh, as if he were talking to himself, "Because you ruined everything I had, my family, and my life."
Barry was stunned and didn't know what to say.
Reverse Flash suddenly smiled. There was no madness, no resentment in that smile, only something indescribable—weariness? Relief? Or something else entirely?
Reverse Flash glanced at Barry, then transformed into a black lightning bolt and disappeared into the distance.
