American comic book: Transmigrated into Dior and adopted by the Wayne family
Chapter 13 Balloon Man and the Court
[By inadvertently revealing another side of himself, he successfully left an indelible impression on Selena Kyle.]
[Points +100]
"snort."
Dio walked down the corridor, recalling Selena's reaction, and subtly licked his lips.
An indelible impression?
Dior's gaze grew increasingly playful, even expectant.
Two things are certain from the previous statement: Selena was indeed present, but she also did not see the killer.
The path of finding the murderer and uncovering the mastermind behind it all is no longer viable.
How can we get rid of the sword of Damocles hanging over our heads?
It seems we have no choice but to find another way...
After returning to the room.
Dior took the flip phone out of his suitcase and edited a message.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of my mother's photo on the bedside table—the woman who had worked herself to the bone and whose funeral money had been used to buy alcohol.
He paused for a moment, but still pressed the send button.
Bruce Wayne has found a witness who appears to have seen the killer's true face.
send.
The moment the phone screen went dark, Dior's eyes also darkened.
You will definitely be unable to restrain yourself, and once you make a move, you will inevitably reveal a flaw.
Before that, he needed to arrange escape routes for Bruce, Selena, and even Alfred.
After all, the three of them are the main source of points.
"What I'm doing isn't bad; it's my pursuit, my goal, and that's what matters most."
Dior murmured to himself, his previously wavering gaze hardening further.
Haw!
Dior froze, then turned to look out the window.
The glass was splattered with sticky red liquid, which was slowly dripping down.
Blood?
Dio's pupils contracted, and in a panic, he quickly took several steps back until his back hit the edge of the bed and he came to a stop.
A prank? Was it Selena?
No, this is just too realistic, that sticky texture, and...
Dio's heart pounded like a drum. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and slowly moved toward the window.
The next second, a faint smell of rust seeped in through the window cracks.
Dior's expression changed.
Bruce is dead? Did he fall off a tightrope while walking on the rooftop?
No, absolutely not, Alfred has already locked the rooftop!
Is this a warning from the mastermind behind it all? Have they discovered my mistake?
No, that's impossible!
Countless guesses surfaced in my mind, only to be rejected one by one.
Finally, Dior held his breath, suppressed his nausea, and looked at the scene outside the glass.
A bloody, mangled body, twisted limbs, and silver handcuffs on its ankles.
Dio's pounding heart gradually calmed down, and the Riddler's insight allowed him to pull himself out of his fear and regain a sliver of composure.
The green eyes scanned back and forth, perfectly capturing the details of the corpse.
A police badge? Is that a police badge?
So the deceased was a police officer?
The watch on my wrist also has repeated scratches.
This is a police officer who enjoys using excessive force!
Dior quickly came to the correct conclusion in his mind.
If it were my former self, I would never have noticed these details.
Thank you, Edward Nigma.
Dio nodded, secretly resolving that the next time he met the Riddler, he would share a few difficult riddles with him.
But first, we need to solve this troublesome problem in front of us!
Thinking this, Dio's face immediately contorted with the expression of a child seeing something terrifying, and he rushed into the living room.
In the living room, Gordon sat on the sofa, facing Alfred.
"This portrait alone is not enough to reopen the Wayne couple's case."
"What we want to find is the person who hired him, not a killer."
After taking a sip of tea, Gordon slowly recounted his current predicament.
"Detective Gordon."
"Witnesses are very important, especially if you have a witness's testimony, it is very valuable."
Alfred shared his opinion.
"We don't write anything down, we don't mention names, we just have one true story."
"This will make the people involved very nervous, and the people around them will also be very nervous."
"We can't let him stay huddled in the ground any longer; we need to let him stick his head out and get some fresh air."
"That way, no matter who he is, as long as he takes action, we will find his weakness."
Gordon nodded:
"OK, I'll immediately have my partner spread rumors. He's very good at spreading gossip."
The living room door was suddenly opened!
"Alfred!!!"
Dior burst in from outside, pointing to his room.
"There's a body outside my room! It fell from the sky!"
"What?!"
Alfred jumped to his feet and exchanged a quick glance with Gordon.
"I'll lead the way!"
One man pulled a pistol from his waistband, and another man pulled a pistol from under the table. They rushed toward the bedroom without stopping!
Gordon kicked open the door, revealing a bloodstained window.
"Damn...it's the Balloon Man." Gordon lowered his gun, his voice heavy. "That vigilante who likes to kill people with weather balloons."
Alfred frowned. "The Balloon Man? There are many ways to kill, why choose something so complicated?"
"Because of the sense of ritual," Bruce's voice came from behind. "This person likes rituals."
Alfred turned around and pointed sternly at him:
"Didn't I tell you not to sneak around like that? It's so rude!"
Bruce didn't answer. Instead, he walked to the window and stared blankly at the blood-stained glass.
Gordon quickly pulled out his phone and made a call:
"I'm Gordon from the GCPD. I've found a body at Wayne Manor with a badge. The killer is Balloon Man."
"The deceased was Cranston."
Gordon had just hung up the phone when light footsteps sounded at the bottom of the stairs.
Selena poked her head out halfway, glanced at the window, and quickly looked away.
"Wow, now your big house is even more gloomy."
She walked up to Bruce and extended her hand.
"I am Selena Kyle."
Bruce snapped out of his daze, smiled kindly, and shook the hand.
"I am Bruce Wayne."
"You really are a bit strange, but I don't dislike you."
Selena took Bruce's hand and said with a smile.
"Could you show me around your home?"
"sure."
Deep in the corridor, Dior slowly emerged from the shadows.
He watched Bruce and Selena walk away side by side, a slight smile playing on his lips.
If the language barrier doesn't work... then what about a young girl?
Humans always have weaknesses.
Dior turned and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
-----------------
Deep within a building without a nameplate in Gotham's underground.
The owl chandelier on the ceiling was lit, illuminating the empty round table.
A woman wearing an owl mask emerged from the shadows.
She picked up her phone, the light from above reflecting off her mask, revealing only her long, slender fingers with red nail polish.
"Have you found a witness?"
The woman pondered for a moment, then gently tapped the call bell on the table.
A moment later, a tall, muscular man wearing a black mask walked over.
"How's the situation at Indian Hill?" the woman asked softly.
"Falcone said there's no way to get it yet, it's Maroni's territory, but he's already trying to figure something out."
"Falcone's efficiency is still trustworthy, but what about the homeless children?"
"Some have already been sent to the professor."
The woman nodded slightly.
"My little boy says Bruce Wayne has found a witness, you know what to do?"
"Know."
"By the way, tell Dio that we can see through every window of that manor."
"No one can escape our watchful eye."
"Yes."
