"I need your help to find someone."

"Besides, we're friends, right?"

"Uh, I guess we could be considered that?"

Peter responded tentatively, his eyes darting away, not daring to look Dio in the eye.

He had a gut feeling that there was something terrifying hidden in the boy's eyes, and he must not look at him.

He had actually been about to run away, but Dio's voice carried an unusual tranquility, as if something had nailed him to the spot.

The thought of escaping was extinguished by those words.

Peter suddenly didn't want to run anymore, and even wanted to hear what Dio had to say.

"Are we friends? That's a question, isn't it?"

Dio turned to Alfred and gave him a wink.

"Alfred, tell Peter how Wayne treats his friends."

"Yes, Master Dior."

Without saying a word, Alfred took out his wallet from inside his suit jacket, counted out a thousand dollars, and handed it over.

"Young Master Dior, I have always been your friend!!!!"

Peter took Franklin and laughed heartily, instantly forgetting the beating he had just received.

This money was enough to save his family's lives.

Since his uncle was laid off, his aunt has been supporting the whole family, but they still can't make ends meet.

Peter had a vague feeling that his family was in a dangerous situation.

It's as if an invisible line has been drawn across the entire society; people are only above the line, and those below it are not.

People who fall below this line will have a particularly bad time.

But now, an invisible hand, holding a stack of US dollars, has scooped him up, with a very simple request.

It's just about finding someone.

too easy.

For a moment, in Peter's eyes, the blond boy in front of him seemed to have a golden halo above his head.

A halo composed of Franklin.

"I am now formally entrusting you with the task of finding the kitten and the black-haired boy beside her."

"Excuse my bluntness, Master Dior, but can he really find Master Bruce in Gotham?"

Dio reached out and patted Peter on the shoulder, then turned to Alfred, his tone resolute:

"Peter Parker, just for that name, I'll believe in him this once."

"By the way, Peter, do you believe in gravity?"

"I believe you."

Peter nodded without hesitation, then looked puzzled.

"By the way, what's the name you mentioned...?"

"Have you ever read comics? I once read one that featured a superhero called Spider-Man."

Dior casually recounted Spider-Man's story, mentioning things like "with great power comes great responsibility" and "good neighbors bring good fortune."

Peter listened intently, a longing gradually appearing in his eyes.

No teenager can resist Spider-Man's charm!

Dior continued with satisfaction:

"His real name is Peter Parker, just like you. He has an aunt and an uncle, so I believe you."

"I also believe you won't betray my trust a second time."

He looked into Peter's eyes.

Peter bit his lower lip, and this time, he didn't avoid Dio's gaze, nodding firmly.

"I will find them."

"Very good, Peter."

Dior gave a satisfied, fake smile and patted him on the shoulder again.

As he watched Peter's figure gradually disappear into the distance, Alfred looked down at Dio, his eyes filled with satisfaction.

It's not easy for a twelve-year-old to have a handle on a Gotham street kid.

Gotham's street urchins are masters of backstabbing and betrayal.

They call each other brothers, but they can sell each other out for just five dollars.

"Young Master Dior, to get someone to do things for you with just a fictional story, that's a brilliant move."

"yes."

Dior pulled down the brim of his hat, hiding his somewhat nostalgic gaze in the shadows.

I never said it was fake.

"Let's go find that Kraft guy."

The blond boy walked forward with composure and confidence, as if nothing in the world could defeat him.

Alfred was lost in thought.

He was reminded of his younger self, who, like Dior, came from humble beginnings and was just as full of youthful vigor.

Most importantly, he's just as handsome.

"Alfred, what are you daydreaming about! Let's go!"

The old butler snapped out of his daze and quickly followed.

"Master Dior, Lovecraft is very alert. After sensing something was wrong, he disappeared in Gotham last night."

"You sensed something was wrong? You actually believe that nonsense?"

Dio glanced at him and crossed his arms.

The two had only known each other for a few days, but he knew the old butler was a steady and reliable person.

By now, Alfred has probably already figured out Lovecraft's true intentions.

They're still laying the groundwork here!

Alfred raised an eyebrow and put his hands behind his back:

"The informant checked, and he wasn't at home, not in his apartment, and not at the company. Someone has hidden him."

"This man often collaborates with the Wayne Group, and I happen to know that he owns several properties registered under his mistress's name."

He took out three investigation reports from his pocket and unfolded them one by one.

"Young Master Dior, please choose one."

"snort."

Dior didn't even look at it, and simply took the first one.

The number 1 is his lucky number. Since it's all gambling anyway, he might as well just choose one he likes.

"Aren't you going to take a look?"

"There's no need."

Dio opened the file, looked at the Upper Town area section, and snapped his fingers.

"I believe in the attraction between people. I'm driving up to the city center."

"Yes, Master Dior."

-----------------

Shangcheng District.

The car was parked on the side of the road, and a man and a child got out.

"Young Master Dior."

Alfred pulled Dio back from rushing upwards.

"Give it to me in a bit."

"If you keep arguing, they'll run away!"

Dio shook off his hand and walked upstairs without looking back.

He's determined to get the clue Lovecraft has today.

Finding and eliminating the contact person is the most urgent task at hand.

I must stand at the pinnacle of society!

Upon reaching the apartment door, Dior consciously stepped aside.

Bang!

Alfred kicked the door open and entered, gun raised.

Dior followed closely behind, his gaze sweeping back and forth across the living room.

A cigarette butt still warm? Hiding away?

Dio's last shred of hope vanished, and he began to mock him.

"You hide from people, so you're not all that great after all, Lovecraft."

His terrified and paranoid demeanor shows that he doesn't know the mastermind behind it all.

"That's all?"

The bedroom door opened, and Lovecraft walked out slowly, gun in hand, his voice filled with anger.

"You're the ones who caused all this trouble! Now the people who came to kill you are coming to kill me too!"

"Did you know?"

"Those who are truly in control will only laugh at you from their high positions as they watch you busy yourself with all this."

"And I'm going to die! Fuck!"

The controller? The controller of the city?

Dior frowned, a guess forming in his mind.

The Wayne board of directors can hardly be considered the controlling party.

Could it be... an owl?

"What do you know?"

Lovecraft lowered his gun, his face ashen.

"Part of the truth. I know too much."

He looked at Alfred, then at Dio, and put the gun down:

"I'm doomed. If you can find this place, so can they."

"Kid, there's a box under the table to your right. Take what's inside and let's go."

"Dick, things haven't happened yet—"

"Alfred!" Dio interrupted him, his eyes darkening. "He's right, we have to go."

"What? You..."

Alfred met his gaze and found that those eyes were now filled with unwavering certainty.

"Alright, I understand, Master Dior."

The two men found the briefcase under the table, picked up the evidence, and gave Lovecraft one last look.

Take care, Dick.

Take care, Alfred.

Dio quickly took Alfred downstairs, called the police using a street phone, and left in a hurry.

Just as we drove out of the street, a gunshot rang out behind us.
