Chapter 66 (Free Chapter)
Buggy didn't rush to leave the ancient island. Instead, he hunted a large amount of meat on the island to store as food for his pirate ship.
After all, with more people, the food problem becomes quite troublesome. Although it is possible to hunt sea creatures at sea, it is indeed somewhat unstable.
Especially fruit.
The Buggy Pirates collected a lot of fruit in this small garden.
After doing all this, Bucky prepared to leave.
Therefore, he needed to say goodbye to the two giants.
That day, Buggy brought Nami and Nojiko to find the two giants, who were fighting as usual, so they had to wait until they finished.
"Are you leaving?" Donley sat on the ground looking at Bucky and the other two.
"Hmm." Bucky's clothes fluttered in the sea breeze. "Now that we have Log Pose, there's no need to stay here any longer."
Brogy slung his battle axe over his shoulder, grinned, and said, "Kid, if you come back next time, remember to bring some more wine!"
"Definitely." Bucky nodded, then said meaningfully, "But before I leave, there's something I'd like to remind you both of."
"What?" Dongli raised an eyebrow.
"Your strength—is running low, isn't it?" Bucky raised his head, his gaze passing through the black and white mask and landing on the faces of the two giant warriors who had lived for hundreds of years.
Dongli's pupils contracted slightly.
Brogy's smile froze for a moment.
The two looked at each other and saw the same thing in each other's eyes—surprise, followed by relief.
"You noticed?" Donald's voice was low.
"You can see that," Bucky said. "Even a Titan's body can't withstand 100 years of continuous fighting."
"Your bodies are covered in old injuries, your muscles are fatigued to the limit, and the wear and tear on your bones and joints is almost irreversible."
Bucky didn't finish his sentence, but his meaning was clear.
You are very weak right now.
You are much weaker than you should be.
While combat and training can improve one's strength, it's not a case of the more the better; rather, a balance is needed.
"If anyone takes advantage of the situation and launches a sneak attack using despicable means—you will die." Bucky paused, his gaze sweeping from Dorry's face to Broki's.
Dongli remained silent.
Brogy also fell silent.
After a while, Dongli spoke, his voice carrying an indescribable quality: "Kid, do you know why we're fighting?"
"To prove who's stronger," Bucky said. "It's the glory of giants."
"Yes," Donald nodded, "but that's only part of the reason."
Looking around, this was the place where he and Brogy had fought for a century.
"We fight—because we live."
"As long as we are fighting, we are alive."
"If we stop—we will die."
Brogy picked up the conversation, his voice booming like thunder: "Kid, we are giant warriors, and a warrior's only home is the battlefield."
His lips curled into a wide grin, revealing a bold, somewhat ferocious smile: "To die on the battlefield is our honor. To die at the hands of ambushers—that is our fate too."
"You don't understand," Dorry said. "This is our choice."
"Okay, maybe you're right." Bucky had no interest in arguing with the two giants.
This is a basic understanding and respect.
It's a kind of composure that says, "I may not agree with it, but I accept it."
"That's settled then." Buggy turned around and led Nami and Nojiko away. "Take care."
Bucky didn't try to persuade him further.
He simply nodded slightly, the same unchanging, composed smile still playing on his lips beneath the mask.
Bucky knew in his heart that whether he spoke or not was his business, and whether others listened or not was their business.
He has no obligation to change other people's fate, nor is he qualified to make decisions for others.
Adults must take responsibility for their choices.
If his words just now could plant a seed of vigilance in the hearts of the two giants, that would certainly be good.
If they can't, that's their choice too.
Bucky is never the kind of person who would exhaust himself for others.
"Take care!" Dongli's voice came from behind.
"Remember to bring some wine next time you come!" Brogy added.
Bucky didn't turn around, he just raised his hand and waved it gently.
After this parting, we may never see each other again, or we may meet again in the not-too-distant future. Who knows?
The sails of the Giant were raised, and the sea breeze blew from the southeast, making the sails bulge and produce a muffled "thump".
The boat slowly left the shallows and headed out to sea.
The White Iron King followed closely behind.
Since the entire original crew of the White Iron Pirates was taken in, starting the ship was not too difficult.
a few days later.
The Giant and the Iron King sailed on the sea.
The two ships were positioned one behind the other, maintaining a comfortable distance. Several thick cables connected the two ships, facilitating the movement of people.
This is certainly not a brilliant approach, but it's usable as long as the wind speed is stable and the waves are not large.
On the deck of the Giant, the pirate henchmen were tidying up ropes, adjusting canvas, and cleaning weapons. Everything was in perfect order.
In the middle of the deck, Nami was squatting next to a pile of miscellaneous items, holding a small notebook in her hand, her brows slightly furrowed.
Nokiko stood behind her, his gaze fixed on the pile of junk.
"Have you finished checking the supplies?" Nami asked.
"The inventory is complete," Nochiko said. "Enough for a month. Fresh water, food, medicine, ammunition—all in ample supply."
Nami nodded and wrote a few lines in her notebook.
Nojiko looked at Nami's profile with a faint smile on her lips: "You're starting to look more and more like the steward."
"I'm not the steward," Nami said without looking up. "I'm the navigator."
"Also serving as the general manager."
"—and also the steward." Nami sighed, closed her notebook, and stood up to stretch her aching wrists.
Her gaze passed over the ship's railing and landed on the nearby Iron King.
The ship was much larger than the Giant, and the hippo's bow cast a huge shadow in the sunlight.
"They're really motivated," Nami said.
"Of course." Nojiko followed her gaze. "Being a captain, even a squad captain, feels different."
Nami didn't say anything.
Of course she knew what Mochi and Kabaji were thinking.
Bucky assigned the White Iron King and the prisoners to their command, which was ostensibly a delegation of power, but in reality a test.
If they do well, they can naturally continue; if they don't do well, Bucky won't say it outright, but there are ways to get them "back to where they belong."
This is the pirate crew.
The strong prey on the weak, and the capable rise to the top.
Therefore, Nami and Nojiko didn't pay much attention to what was happening on the White Iron King, but instead turned their attention back to the Giant.
