Becoming God starting with the word game in Lord of Mysteries

"This pocket watch came from a game..."

Feeling the icy touch on his fingertips, Li Qianyi knew that things had developed beyond his expectations.

He glanced at his phone screen.

It was clearly just a simple word game, but Li Qianyi always felt that there was a dark and turbulent undercurrent hidden beneath it, staring at him from the abyss.

Li Qianyi: What's the deal with that God game?

Li Qianyi sent a WeChat message to his boss, but the other party did not reply at all, as if he had disappeared.

There was nothing else Li Qianyi could do but continue his research on his own.

"If even things from games can come into reality, then could this pocket watch also reverse time in the real world?"

Verifying this is not difficult.

Li Qianyi glanced at the glass water cup on the table, which cost 9.9 yuan, and threw it on the ground.

"Ding—crash!"

The water glass shattered into pieces, splashing water everywhere.

Li Qianyi pressed a button on the pocket watch.

"clang!"

Li Qianyi seemed to hear a bell ringing from an infinitely high place.

When he came to his senses, the water glass was already on the table, restored to its original state, even in the exact same position.

"It really works!"

Even though he always prided himself on being a reliable college student, Li Qianyi was still stunned and lost in thought for three minutes when he actually faced the supernatural events he had caused.

"If that's the case, could it be that the true purpose of this relic is actually like this...?"

Li Qianyi had an idea. He looked at his phone screen, where lines of text appeared.

The lost soul from the land forsaken by the gods has returned to the gray, fog-shrouded jungle. Having learned from past mistakes, you surely won't wait to die. But even the wisest can't always be as quick-witted as a fool. Who knows what you'll choose?

A pop-up option appears: [Forward] or [Stay]

"Such provocative behavior, you didn't use the City of Calamity as a framework, did you?"

Seeing the sarcastic tone in the text, Li Qianyi was speechless.

But he was too busy verifying his guesses to care about these things and chose to move forward.

Three paths have appeared before you.

The road on the right looks quite desolate, but in the distance you can see a towering church, though it's too far to make out clearly.

[A faint, eerie cawing can be heard along the middle path, like the call of ghosts from hell. In a daze, you hear the sound of countless wings flapping.]

The road to the left exudes an aura of decay and corruption, plunging into darkness. You cannot see what lies ahead, but your spiritual intuition as a lost soul warns you: do not approach.

So, you who have lost your homeland, which path will you take?

"The game's setting seems to have evolved; it's highly likely that the current timeline is after the apocalyptic war..."

"There's too little information available, so let's choose the one that seems the safest."

Li Qianyi chose to walk to the right.

[A fall into a pit, a gain in your wit. In this treacherous forest, one needs to be extremely careful to survive. The great lost soul has chosen the safest path from the bottom of his heart. You cautiously slip into the path on the right.]

You step on broken branches, the trees recede on either side of you, and the church deep in the jungle seems to be getting closer, but before you can get any closer, a slowly writhing, rotting giant hand blocks your path.

You realize it's a monster you can't fight, and you want to run away, but it's too late.

【you are dead】

"He died so easily, another first-time kill..."

Li Qianyi thought to himself, "Although it was only two choices, I could already feel the game's full of malice."

However, this time he was already prepared and immediately pressed a button on his pocket watch.

The images and text at the top of the screen reversed, instantly returning to the state six seconds prior, along with the health and sanity he had lost.

The game's options have returned to the fork in the road.

[Lucky wanderer, your life has been saved by the Fool's grace, and you have escaped the embrace of eternal darkness.]

[Time rewinds, you return to the crossroads you were at. Please make your choice again.]

Current sanity: 15

Current lives: 14

"Just as I thought, this is the correct way to use a pocket watch."

Looking at his restored health and sanity, Li Qianyi clenched his fists, somewhat excited.

Since things in the game have real-world significance, it likely means that a game character's sanity and health are directly linked to the player.

Once his health reaches 0 or his sanity drops to a certain level, his game character will be deleted.

This might directly affect him in real life, driving him insane or causing him to die suddenly.

The greatest use of this pocket watch is that it allows him to make the best choice almost without any cost.

"Praise the fool."

Li Qianyi calmed himself down and looked at the game. The options were still left, middle, and right.

"The road on the right is a dead end; you can't choose that."

"What looks safe may not actually be safe, and what looks dangerous may not actually be dangerous."

Li Qianyi chose the left side this time.

People often say that the most dangerous place is the safest place. Having been fooled once, you choose to take the dark path on the left with an Ah Q mentality.

At first, you didn't notice anything, but gradually, your vision grew darker and darker until you could see nothing at all. You felt something fall from your eye sockets, and you belatedly realized that it was your eyes. A putrid, rotten smell filled your nostrils, and your mind gradually became muddled. A huge, rotting hand reached out from the ground and grabbed your ankle.

You were dragged into a decaying, dark underground.

【You are dead】

He died suddenly again.

Li Qianyi was dumbfounded.

Where do so many deteriorating left hands come from?

Has the degenerate king disappeared, leaving behind so many extraordinary characteristics of the degenerate left hand?

Should we respect the law of conservation of extraordinary properties?

As Li Qianyi cursed, he pressed the button on his pocket watch to rewind time.

Time rewinds, and you find yourself back at the familiar crossroads.

[Would a brave wanderer be defeated by such a simple setback? So, which path are you prepared to take this time?]

We've already tried both the left and right paths, so the middle path is the only option left.

Even so, Li Qianyi was still somewhat uneasy.

He had given up hope on the game's integrity; who knew if it would come up with any more unexpected problems?

With a heavy heart, you head towards the middle path. Strange cries echo through the misty jungle, and something dark seems to be scurrying about in the bushes. Fortunately, you don't see anything unusual along the way. Light gradually brightens in the distance, and the exit of the jungle seems to be right in front of you.

Just as you were overjoyed, you heard the sound of flapping wings. A crow wearing a monocle flew down from the sky, landed on a boulder, and blocked your way.

The crow tilted its head and looked at you for a moment, then spoke in human language: "I am looking for my father. Do you know where my father is?"

[Displaced people who have illegally entered the country, please choose your response]

Whether I know or not, or perhaps I take a different approach, I am your father.

Li Qianyi: !

What did he see?

Ah, Monk!
