A Bizarre Adventure That Begins in Jujutsu Kaisen
Chapter 48 A Dream of Paradise - Part 1
The next morning at 6:30, the two met at the agreed station on time.
Today, Yuki Kuju was wearing a plain white cotton dress, loosely cut yet with a structured silhouette.
She tied her usually loose blonde hair into a neat single ponytail, with a few wisps of hair hanging down beside her ears, revealing a section of her beautifully shaped, fair nape.
She was already tall and had a great bone structure, and this simple outfit only highlighted her clean and dazzling beauty, like a lily stretching out in the morning light.
In contrast, Theo's attire appears sophisticated and layered.
He wore a tailored white and gray two-tone trench coat over a black fitted vest, which precisely accentuated his lean waistline.
Beneath the vest, a white shirt collar was casually unbuttoned by one button, making him appear less reserved and more relaxed.
A wide reddish-brown belt, secured with a silver square buckle, adds a pop of color to the overall cool color scheme, serving as a finishing touch.
She wore a pair of brown high-top leather boots and pure black slim-fit trousers that perfectly hugged her leg contours.
The trousers are decorated with matching leather straps at the hem, echoing the belt.
When the two boarded the Shinkansen train side by side, they instantly became the silent focus of attention in the carriage.
Their distinctly different temperament and outstanding appearance attracted admiring and curious glances from many passengers.
After choosing a window seat and sitting down with Theo, Yuki lowered his head slightly and swiped his fingertips quickly and intently across his phone screen.
She looked serious, as if she were studying some important document, but the screen displayed detailed maps and travel guides for DisneySea and Disneyland.
This observation lasted a full thirty minutes.
Finally, she reached out and tapped the deep blue icon on the screen that symbolized the ocean, then looked up at Theo, her eyes reflecting the shimmering light outside the car window:
"Let's go here first."
"Okay, I'll do as you say." Theo nodded, without objection.
Thus, their first stop was this exotic "ocean".
From the retro charm of Mediterranean harbors to the volcanic wonders of Mysterious Island, the futuristic feel of Discovery Harbor, the leisurely atmosphere of American seaside, the adventurous vibe of the Lost River Delta, the exotic charm of the Arabian coast, the dreamlike beauty of Mermaid Lagoon, and finally the tranquility of Dream Springs...
They visited almost every themed area.
Long queues snaked in front of each popular attraction, the cacophony of voices and cheerful music creating a vibrant, bustling atmosphere.
In the end, the two of them walked towards the somewhat deserted aquarium in the corner without prior arrangement.
A faded but still legible sign hangs at its entrance: "Marine Life Pavilion".
Compared to the nearby amusement park rides filled with screams and laughter, this place is so quiet it seems to have been forgotten in the cracks of time.
Looking at the deserted gate, Yuki was not disappointed at all; instead, he nodded in satisfaction and said:
"This place is great, at least I don't have to queue. I'm fed up with having to queue everywhere I go."
"Wait a minute." Theo frowned slightly, flipping through the detailed DisneySea guidebook in his hand, his fingertips tracing the cartoon-style attraction icons and section diagrams.
"Why... can't I find this 'Aquarium' on the map?"
He then unfolded two guidebooks simultaneously, one for the marine park and one for the land park, as if conducting some kind of rigorous cross-verification.
"Oh dear, we're already here!" Yuki had already started walking with great enthusiasm, her tone carrying a childlike excitement of adventure.
"It's not marked on the map, maybe it's some hidden Easter egg or a 'secret base'? Let's go in and check it out!"
She glanced back at Theo and winked her left eye gently. Before he could respond, she turned and walked briskly into the dimly lit entrance.
Theo glanced at her resolute back, then looked down and carefully checked the manual, which indeed had no markings.
In the end, he suppressed his minor doubts, put away the manual, and followed them inside.
The moment you step into the aquarium, you are gently enveloped by an air that carries a faint salty smell of seawater and a distinct coolness.
The entrance behind me, shimmering with a hazy light, seemed to emanate a dreamlike glow, like the "gateway to another world" from a Miyazaki Hayao animation.
Theo glanced around—there were no strange rules posted, no employees in black uniforms, and no white elephant in sight.
This isn't a zoo, after all. Maybe I was just overthinking it.
A long underwater tunnel surrounded them, with deep blue seawater flowing slowly outside the glass.
A giant ray, like a gray flying carpet, stretched out its broad pectoral fins and glided leisurely by, leaving behind fine water ripples.
Yuji reached out his hand, and through the cold glass, his fingertips vaguely followed the trajectory of the ray.
There were tiny handprints left by some unknown child on the glass.
Her fingers deftly skirted around those childish handprints.
Theo took half a step forward and stood beside Yuki, looking in the same direction as her.
There was a polite distance between them, yet enough to feel each other's body temperature.
The tunnel is lit by a uniform, dreamy pale blue light.
The light and shadow of the water shimmered on Yuki's focused profile, casting shimmering, fish-scale-like spots of light.
"What's that?" she asked, pointing to a slow-moving, blurry black shadow in the distance.
"It should be a sea turtle," Theo said, looking in the direction she pointed.
"Oh." Yuki looked at it for a while, then said, "It looks like you."
Theo turned his head to look at her.
Yuki looked very serious, her eyes fixed on the slowly paddling sea turtle, but the smile at the corner of her mouth betrayed her true thoughts.
"Where does it resemble it?" he asked cooperatively.
"She seemed unhurried," she said, then turned and walked straight ahead into the tunnel without waiting for his reply.
The ponytail swept through the air, leaving a faint floral and fruity scent of shampoo.
"Ah..." Theo paused for a moment, stood there for two seconds to savor the teasing remark, then chuckled and followed.
The aquarium was much larger and quieter than they had imagined.
From the colorful and bustling tropical fish area to the dimly lit and sparsely populated cold-water fish area, Yuji would stop in front of each aquarium, large or small.
Sometimes I would stare for a long time, my gaze following a particular fish that stood out from the crowd; other times I would only look for a few seconds, glancing over it quickly.
Theo followed behind her, glancing at the fish occasionally and then at her.
Yuki suddenly turned around and leaned gently against an aquarium displaying various bioluminescent jellyfish.
A dazzling, mesmerizing light and shadow floated behind her, as if draping her in a flowing, nebula-like veil.
"I'm getting a little bored. How about we start a story relay?"
She began, her voice echoing slightly in the empty tunnel:
"In the deepest part of the ocean, there lives a small blue fish."
It has scales as dazzling as fragments of the sun and a tail as agile as if woven from moonlight.
Its world is devoid of light, so it has to find its own food and play by itself.
One day, it made a wish upon the moon above the water.
It longed to see the vast, unbroken ocean, to join a lively community, and to have... a happy and fulfilling life.
She paused, looked at Theo encouragingly, and gestured for him to continue.
Dio pondered for a moment, then continued:
The moon heard its wish and gently granted it.
The little fish finally found a new group, and everyone liked it very much.
"However, the ocean is a beautiful but also dangerous place."
A terrible tsunami swept in from afar, attacking the tribe and scattering everyone!
The little fish lost consciousness from the violent impact...
When it finally regained consciousness, its familiar companions were all gone, and even many of its most cherished, beautiful scales had fallen off.
Theo continued, "But it's alright! Because the little fish is a very resilient little fish, and its clan is also a very powerful clan."
The resilient little fish will muster all its courage to rush out and confront the shadow left by the disaster, in order to find each of its lost companions.
There will be thrilling moments and lonely journeys along the way, but ultimately we will reunite, overcome this crisis together, and live together more happily and cherish each other even more.
