Chapter 99 Happiness and Peace of Mind - Part Three
"I'll take you to a nice place."
Gojo Satoru waved to the shop owner and then, with a half-embrace and half-carry, led Ankagi out the door.
With a single step, the distance control was quietly activated, and the two figures instantly rose into the air.
A fleeting glimpse of light swept past her, and the songstress instinctively closed her eyes, only hearing the wind whistling in her ears.
When they opened their eyes again, they were standing nearly a thousand meters in the air, with a panoramic view of the entire Tokyo skyline.
Just as she was about to speak, the point of support suddenly disappeared.
Wu actually let go.
"Gojo Satoru—!!!"
The songstress felt weightless and plummeted, the wind filling her ears, and her heart nearly leaping out of her throat.
Three seconds later, she fell into a familiar embrace.
Wu caught the songstress steadily, hugged her, and laughed out loud. The rise and fall of his chest was clearly transmitted to her back.
"Gojo Satoru, are you crazy?!" The songstress, regaining her senses, pounded his chest repeatedly, her eyes reddening. "You scared me to death, you know that?!"
Wu let her hit him: "I know, I know. But the way the songstress looks when she's scared—it's just too cute, I couldn't resist."
"You promised not to tease me?! Don't keep doing things that make me want to go back on my word!" She punched him in the chest again, but this time with much less force.
"Yeah, it's a promise." Wu lowered his head, his lips almost touching her earlobe, his words carrying a hint of roguishness, "But the way the songstress frowns, closes her eyes, and shrinks into my arms—I really want to see it many, many more times."
The warm breath brushed past her ear, triggering a subtle electrical current in her bio-nerves, making her feel itchy.
"If you do that again—I'm not going to be friends with you anymore," the songstress said sullenly.
"Okay, okay, I won't do it again next time~" Gojo Satoru promised with a smile, then added casually, "Probably not."
So he got punched again.
The original plan was to have lunch, but when they passed a karaoke bar, the singer's gaze lingered for two seconds longer.
Without saying a word, Gojo Satoru pulled her inside.
"Aren't you a terrible singer? How come you're more enthusiastic than me?" The songstress was pinned down on the sofa in the private room by him, watching his back as he enthusiastically selected songs, and asked with some amusement.
"So what if it sounds bad? As long as the songstress sings well, that's all that matters~" He turned around and winked at her, "Besides, the worse I sing, the more you'll remember it."
What kind of twisted logic is this?
The singer was both amused and exasperated, and did not wish to comment.
As it turns out, Gojo Satoru's "unpleasant" tone was by no means an exaggeration.
The first song he requested was completely off-key; every syllable rebelliously escaped its original path, perfectly avoiding all the correct notes.
The singer initially tried to hold back her laughter, her lips pursed until they ached, but eventually she couldn't take it anymore and collapsed onto the sofa, unable to straighten up, her breathing becoming intermittent.
"How...how did you manage to sing every single line off-key?!" She wiped away tears of laughter, her voice trembling slightly from laughing so hard.
Gojo Satoru, holding the microphone, said in a serious tone, "This~ is~ talent~."
The songstress clutched her stomach and laughed even louder.
After the song ended, Wu gently handed the microphone to the singer, then sank into the sofa, adopting a posture of focused listening.
Due to the ritualistic requirement of the "separate forbidden zone" of the technique, the songstress consciously trains her voice over the years. Her voice is already warm and clear, and it becomes even more moving when accompanied by melodies.
She sang "Hero," a song she's been listening to a lot lately.
Halfway through her song, she suddenly realized that the intense gaze was fixed on her, so focused that she almost forgot the lyrics.
She awkwardly put down the microphone and met those deep blue eyes that weren't hidden by sunglasses.
The flickering light and shadow on the screen in the private room flowed and outlined his face.
Shedding his usual flamboyant and carefree demeanor, Gojo Satoru, when quiet, is indeed breathtakingly handsome, even somewhat unreal.
How can I describe him?
He was like the fog at midnight, the wind on a sunny day, the shimmering light on the water, and everything she loved.
She loved this moment because he only had eyes for her.
"Why did you stop singing?" Gojo Satoru broke the silence and asked.
"Nothing's wrong—you are the one who's staring at me like that. I'm getting nervous."
Wu didn't look away: "I just feel—it's so nice to be with a songstress like this."
He spoke in a calm and serious tone, without his usual glibness, which made the songstress's heart clench.
"Ha, haha, yes." She hastily looked away and gave a dry laugh.
The songstress didn't think she liked Satoru that much.
However, life is always vibrant and interesting when I'm with him.
His gentle and serene demeanor at that moment fulfilled all her fantasies about love.
In comparison, those moments when he occasionally teased me until I was exhausted—they seemed insignificant in comparison.
At 6 p.m., Gojo Satoru led Iori Kaguya by the hand to the Tokyo Dome.
The area outside the venue was already packed with people.
The 50,000 tickets were far from enough to go around, and some fans who hadn't managed to buy tickets were even holding stethoscopes and pressing them against the wall, trying to catch any faint sounds coming from inside the venue.
Their seats were in the front row of the second-floor side stands, offering a great view of the entire stage.
The singer looked around. The venue was packed, and the air seemed to be ignited by the glow of glow sticks and the cheers that rose and fell.
Two performers dressed in silver spacesuits and holding torches slowly walked onto the stage and completed the solemn lighting ceremony.
A cluster of dark red fireballs suddenly rose into the air, precisely igniting the huge fire altar high above.
The moment the lights went out, screams and cheers erupted from the rooftops.
Namie Amuro slowly rose from the elevator platform.
She wore a short, bright red stand-up collar jacket with a row of black woven rope decorations on the chest. The vertically arranged gold round buttons shimmered under the light, and the cuffs and shoulders were decorated with black trim and sequins.
Her lower body was adorned with a voluminous long skirt in a gradient of burgundy and black, the hem of which flared out from the waist like a flower, forming an elegant bell-shaped silhouette.
The opening song was "Hero," and Amuro's live performance was incredibly stable. The moment she opened her mouth, the singer felt her hair stand on end.
She had listened to the CD version countless times, but the sound and energy of the live performance were completely different.
Following that, songs like "Hide & Seek," "Baby Don't Cry," and "A Walk in the Park" took turns on stage. When Amuro sang her twenty-second song, which was also her most famous representative work, "Can You Celebrate?", the singer hummed along softly for a couple of lines, her voice trembling slightly.
It wasn't because she couldn't sing the high notes, but because she suddenly realized clearly that this was the last time Namie Amuro would stand on stage and sing this song.
There will never be another one like this.
She secretly rubbed the corner of her eye with the back of her hand, thinking that Gojo Satoru next to her hadn't noticed.
However, a hand reached out and gently grasped her fingers.
"Why are you crying? She sang so well." Wu's voice came close to her ear.
The songstress did not break free.
She let him hold her hand, her gaze fixed on the figure on the stage who had accompanied her through half of her youth.
She used to listen to Namie Amuro's songs alone, never imagining that one day someone would come with her to share this moment.
After the encore, the performance officially came to an end.
As she emerged from the giant dome, the songstress's eyes were still slightly red, silently immersed in the lingering melody.
Gojo Satoru didn't say anything, but simply held her hand and walked slowly down the street where the crowds were gradually dispersing.
"Thank you." After walking for a while, the songstress suddenly spoke softly.
"Hmm? What's there to thank me for?" Wu tilted his head to look at her.
"Tickets. And—come with me." She didn't look at him; her gaze was fixed on the pavement beneath her feet.
"I'll accompany you to whatever songs you want to hear from now on," he said matter-of-factly, but then added, "but next time I won't choose a retirement concert, I'll choose something more festive."
The songstress laughed out loud at his antics and then lightly punched him again.
