Chapter 114 The New King and the Old King

Chapter 114 The New King and the Old King

The river murmured silver notes, and a golden halo enveloped Ryan.

Lancelot looked at the being before him. The Emperor's Blood did not directly separate a drop into Guilliman's body as it had when Guilliman was awakened. The Lion King's injuries had already been gradually healed.

Moreover, the millennia-long slumber did not only have negative effects; Ryan's warp nature was awakened by him.

Ryan was born a god.

His soul could bear immense power, and during his slumber, his warp nature slowly awakened, giving rise to this dense forest of Caliban.

His body contains one of the divine essences that the Emperor excavated from the depths of the Warp. He does indeed slumber within the boulder, but in reality, he is in this world conjured from his own Warp essence. Therefore, even the evil of the Warp cannot disturb the lion's slumber.

Now, all he needs to do to wake up is a trigger.

The Dark Watchers appeared beside Lancelot, gently raising their hands and holding a long, slender object in front of him.

It was a longsword, a longsword that Lancelot was extremely familiar with, except that the longsword did not have any subspace name engraved on it.

But for his true master, when Ryan awoke, the Empire’s sharpest blade had already begun to shine throughout the universe, and this longsword called Loyalty was merely a slight extension of his edge.

The Emperor has prepared a more suitable weapon for him, and as the Emperor's eldest son, Ryan will shoulder greater responsibilities.

"But now he still needs to gradually find his own strength."

Lancelot reached out and took the longsword, driving it deep into a rock. The Dark Watchers whispered nearby, and the Emperor's divine power was witnessed in that moment.

At this moment, a Dark Angel Lord plunged the longsword into the rock. The only other Dark Angel Lord who could pull out the sword was another Dark Angel Lord who was already prepared.

Ten thousand years is too long. Even if he were to awaken, his memories would inevitably become somewhat chaotic, and his current strength is not yet sufficient to face the trials that belong to him.

The Dark Watcher conveyed this message to Lancelot at that moment.

Lancelot withdrew his imperial blood and glanced at the buildings in the distance.

At that very moment, the Lion King's eyes twitched slightly.

Although to his senses the sound of flowing water was incessant and chaotic, it was inexplicably moving, allowing the listener to peacefully enjoy the moment.

But a male lion's senses will not allow another lion to watch him while he sleeps.

Even though the other party's light showed no hostility, Ryan was still suddenly jolted awake.

He woke up in that instant, and everything before his eyes began to come into view.

He saw Lancelot's figure standing in the mist, and a longsword stuck in a stone in front of him. His mind began to ponder what Lancelot was, because for a moment, he couldn't even tell whether what he saw was a mirror or a strange being standing there.

However, he quickly realized that he hadn't stood up yet, and then he felt that his memory seemed to be a bit off; he seemed to have discovered that he had forgotten a lot of things.

"Where is this?"

After ten thousand years, he spoke, but perhaps due to his age or long-term disuse, his voice was slightly hoarse.

At that moment, Lancelot, upon hearing his words, looked at the Lion King before him and, without saying much, simply put on his helmet.

Then, the armor Lancelot was wearing, called the Demon-Sealing Armor, began to change. The black armor, whose specifications were originally indiscernible, began to display various mysterious symbols that were inscrutable to those outside the Legion.

A white sword appeared at that moment. The lion recognized each mark as if it were the face of an old friend, but these patterns did not match Lancelot's face.

He was slightly taken aback, and then he heard Lancelot speak softly: "Ryan El Johnson, my name is Lancelot."

Lancelot calmly looked at the Lion King before him, calmly drawing the indestructible Lake Light from his hand, and then spoke as if dropping a nuclear bomb into Ryan's heart: "He is the new legion leader of the Dark Angels."

Boom!

A thousand thoughts were still exploding in his mind! Looking at the longsword in Lancelot's hand, the Primarch felt an incredibly familiar power emanating from it. His pupils contracted sharply because he saw a name on the sword that was very similar to his own!

When he realized this, he almost instinctively understood that this sword was no ordinary weapon; it was a weapon that could kill him with ease!

The threat of death instantly jolted Ryan's nerves, causing his brain, which had been dormant for millennia, to begin an indescribable overload. Lancelot, however, simply looked at Ryan calmly.

Quietly waiting for Ryan to remember who he was and what his past was like.

Caliban — The Knights — Father and brother, Horus, that pathetic, foolish traitor, Koz, that hateful, bloodthirsty monster — the noble and tragic Saint Gilles, the arrogant and flamboyant Rus, and the annoying Robert.

Ryan seemed to be re-examining his life. Many things were overlooked, but the rebellion ten thousand years ago left a deep scar in his mind, so much so that the first thing he remembered after waking up was that tragic imperial civil war.

The homeworlds of his rebellious brothers burned fiercely at his command: but Terra was engulfed in flames because of his lateness—he returned to Caliban, only to find it reduced to ruins right beside him, and as the planet's defensive orbits opened fire on them, he recalled his own furious outburst.

Horrifying, barbaric.

It was pure, unbridled resentment and anger. After that, he faced his adoptive father, Luther, who had by then been corrupted by the Four Gods.

When he realized what his old friend had become, the overwhelming grief felt like a giant wave crashing over him once again.

An immense pain overwhelmed his soul, causing him to forget the final outcome of that final duel.

When he awoke again, he found himself in the forest—and Lancelot!

"Lord of the Dark Angels? You?! You're so young. How long have I been unconscious? What's with that sword in your hand?!"

Leon took a deep breath. His memories were gradually returning. Looking at Lancelot in front of him and the sword in his hand, Leon almost instinctively tensed his muscles slightly and asked such a sharp question with a furrowed brow.

"Ryan, I think we need to have a dialogue on equal terms."

Lancelot calmly looked at the lion king in front of him. He could naturally sense that the lion king was very wary of him, but since he had come to this time as a fallen angel, he would answer the lion in front of him as a fallen angel.

Thinking this, Lancelot looked at Ryan in front of him.

"I am the leader of the First Legion, but I am not the First Legion that obeys your orders. Ryan, the Dark Angels have long been divided, and you are the one who started it."

Upon hearing this, the Dark Guardians, these robed figures, took a few steps back and hid in the shadows.

"What did you say?!"

Ryan also let out a low growl at this moment.

He had just woken up and hadn't even figured out the situation when he was immediately confronted with an accusation from the dark angel before him! For the proud Ryan, this was clearly a huge provocation! It was like a new lion leaping into the territory of the old lion king and barking!
