Chapter 161 Titan Fortress (4/5)

The solar system is the birthplace of the human empire and also the most heavily defended place.

Terra, as the center, is closely guarded by Mars and the Moon. If the rebels want to invade the solar system, they will have to face layers of defense from human colonies on the eight planets.

Mars was the first place to be colonized on a large scale by humans and was once a scientific center, preserving the best-preserved scientific and technological knowledge.

Although the Cult of Mechanism was formed due to factors such as the Void Dragons, with the signing of an agreement between the Emperor and the Mechanismists, and the Cult recognizing the Emperor as the human incarnation of the Triune Supreme God worshipped by the Cult, Mars joined the Emperor's human empire as a source of technological support and logistical assistance.

Even so, the Emperor could not completely trust these techies on Mars. The Dark Angels of the First Legion's Terrorwing and Ironwing served as a layer of insurance, and the Emperor also cultivated unique technological enclaves on Saturn.

The powerful Saturn-type Dreadnoughts were their creations. Moreover, Titan, Saturn's sixth moon, was also the homeworld of the Grey Knights of the 666th Warband.

Since the chapter's inception, only the Inquisition and the Chapter Master have been permitted to know of the Grey Knights' existence.

Many chapters consider the Grey Knights a myth, if they've ever heard of them.

Space Marines who encounter them will be telepathically searched, and even Imperial Guard legions that fight alongside them will be executed.

This was actually a very helpless move. Due to the scarcity of Grey Knights, they could only deal with the chaotic demonic tides that mortal armies could not handle. In the face of such demonic tides, the spirits of mortals were easily corrupted, thus attracting the attention of demons.

If these civilians are allowed to escape, they could cause an even greater crisis, spreading the dangers of chaos to other planets.

This is similar to a one-size-fits-all approach, like shooting the arrow first and then drawing the target.

Some warriors with unwavering willpower will not be seduced by demons, while others have mortals whose faith is strong enough to remain loyal to the God-Emperor even after facing demons.

But to the obsessed judge, no one is trustworthy, so everyone has to die to prove their loyalty.

However, this situation is expected to improve considerably in the future, because the demon army has attacked Terra once again, and even if the Inquisition is obsessed, it is impossible for them to just kill off hundreds of billions of people on Terra.

With Robert Guilliman's return, the court's modus operandi had to be curbed.

It's unclear whether the large fissure will expand under these circumstances.

As Lancelot boarded the Imperial ship, he thought to himself that the Great Rift was nothing short of a milestone in the Warhammer universe. The Eye of Terror, torn open by the birth of the Slaanesh, had expanded endlessly, spanning the entire galaxy and dividing the Imperium of Man into the positive and the negative.

Under these circumstances, the power of the warp can interfere with the real universe without restraint, and the power of the four gods is significantly increased.

While this, to some extent, actually made the Emperor even more powerful—a phenomenon jokingly referred to as Abaddon's destruction of Cadia—it was, in a sense, a form of indirect loyalty. Because after the Great Rift opened, the Emperor's accumulated faith gained more opportunities to manifest, ultimately culminating in the final strike of the Plague War.

Although the events unfolded several hundred years earlier than in the original story, Chaos should have already made preparations long ago.

In a sense, Kadia's demise might even have been predetermined.

"—No, you can't think like that."

Lancelot slightly dismissed the thought that had just popped into his mind and turned his attention back to the current space naval battle.

The traitor's fleet is in full retreat, and they are retreating right near Saturn's defenses. Lancelot sees a distinctive, massive flagship in the image near Saturn's orbit.

That was a symbol of the former glory of the human empire:

The Soul of Vengeance.

She is a Glory Queen-class warship, undoubtedly the largest and strongest in all dimensions, even the entire...

A human empire: Only three can rival it.

Of all the countless interstellar warships that have contributed to the history of the Empire and conquered the galaxy, none is more awe-inspiring and terrifying than the Soul of Vengeance.

In the distant past, the Soul of Vengeance chronicled the Emperor's grand plan to lead humanity into a golden future, and was the ultimate symbol of the alliance between Mars and Terra.

Its former commander was Horus, the most powerful and noblest of the Emperor's sons and the supreme commander of the human army. He ultimately betrayed the Emperor and ignited the flames of war in the new empire.

Today, the owner of this flagship is Zekell Abaddon, the Great Raider Abaddon, the Chaos Warmaster, the former First Company Commander of the Sons of Horus, and now the absolute master of the Black Legion.

He was blessed by the four Chaos Gods, and although Abaddon was a Chaos Warmaster, he refused to completely submit to the power of destruction like the Primarch.

Because this would limit his presence outside the Eye of Fear and make his ultimate revenge against the Empire beyond his control.

His arrival in Terra disrupted his plans.

In the recently concluded 12th Black Expedition, Abaddon led the Soul of Vengeance and another monster-class warship, the Planet Killer, newly built in the Eye of Terror, in a devastating attack on the Gothic Sector.

This war is also known as the Gothic War.

Abaddon reduced the entire sector to ashes in an instant, and in this unprecedented interstellar naval battle, four Blackrock fortresses and countless innocent Imperial lives perished.

This victory laid a decisive foundation for Abaddon's future strategy. He was originally planning the 13th Black Crusade, but with the Star Torch extinguished, the "Planet Killer" trump card was not brought to Terra.

Because Abaddon clearly understood that the False Emperor had deliberately restarted the Star Torch to seek an opportunity, and for Warmaster Abaddon, this was also his opportunity.

If the planet killers were to come to Terra, they might indeed pose a threat to humanity's home planet, but that would inevitably lead the false emperor on the Golden Throne to take preemptive measures.

If Planet Killer suffers a trauma, it will directly cause problems with the subsequent plans. Therefore, Abaddon is currently operating on two fronts. On the surface, he comes to Terra and obeys the will of the four gods, but in reality, he is just secretly plotting his own grand scheme.

Now that he sees the situation is turning against him, he has prepared to leave this place.

However, now that things have come to this point, having finally made it here, Abaddon originally planned to go to Amighadoun to join in.

The Imperium of Man still needs the Star Torch as a guide, but Abaddon, blessed by the Four Gods, can easily travel to the star system where the Primarch of Daedalus is Roaring.

In the Warmaster's plan, even if Terra Star Torch cannot find an opportunity to directly destroy it with the macro cannon, he still wants to completely control the world of Armageddon.

But it was during the planned retreat that he discovered the planet Titan.

According to the records of the Vengeful Spirit, this planet did not exist ten thousand years ago, but it possesses extremely powerful psionic energy, massive defensive firepower, and is equipped with an incredibly terrifying void shield generator?!
