Warhammer: My buddy has too many secrets!

Chapter 48 The Young Apprentice

Testing loyalty...this process isn't going to be pleasant.

Some extremely fanatical Inquisitors would even use various instruments of torture to torment Space Marines in order to determine whether they were still loyal to the Imperium and the Emperor.

Even Titus, a high-ranking Ultramarines and the absolute protagonist of Space Marine II, was captured by an Inquisitor after displaying unusual psionic resistance when killing a Chaos Wizard. He was forced to endure high-intensity warp forces for a considerable period of time.

As for the weeping ones, perhaps they, like Titus, will silently endure this torment, while still maintaining their faith in and loyalty to the human empire.

But for Lancelot, if anyone foolishly tries to grab him and put him on the torture device to test his lie, Lancelot will definitely draw his indestructible Lake Light and chop his head to pieces!

However, in the Warhammer universe, Lancelot cannot do this. After all, the Inquisition is the backbone of the human empire. Although there are many madmen, in this bloated and ignorant universe, these madmen are the key to keeping the human empire alive for another 10,000 years!

There's a saying that goes something like this...

Every novice judge will regret a moment of leniency that leads to lifelong regret; the path from kindness to extremism is an inevitable one for every judge...

But Lancelot still said, "Don't get involved with me."

"Commander Malakin, I will no longer have any contact with these Inquisition personnel."

Lancelot said this, and Malakin, the Chapter Master of the Lamenters, agreed, nodding and then earnestly pounding his chest with his left hand:

"Elder Lancelot, please rest assured, none of the Weeping Ones will reveal your presence. Please go to the Relic Room and wait for a while! I will come to summon you personally once everything is over!"

Lancelot nodded and, led by the think tank, entered the reliquary of the weeping ones.

This is the true secret place of the Weepers. In the past, the most important genetic seed for the Weepers was stored here, but now it has been replaced by a feather containing the power of Saint Jereth.

The weeping man intended to keep the feather a secret from the judge.

Although the Inquisitors are only accountable to the Emperor and are legally superior to all Astartes, Chapter Masters, and even Primarchs, and can unconditionally access all Chapter artifacts, war histories, geneseed files, and psionic records, normally, a rational Inquisitor would not delve too deeply into the secrets of a Chapter.

Lancelot, who had entered the secret chamber, looked at the feather in front of him.

Now that things have come to this... Lancelot no longer dares to tell the weeping crowd that the feather actually came from the Angel Wings equipment that the system gave him.

However, the description of this equipment does indeed contain the power of Saint Jereth. He personally selected the best feather from it and gave it to the Weepers. Now, after about half a month of faith and worship by the Weepers, the warp power emanating from this feather is steadily increasing.

Perhaps I can study that white feather crown here...

As Lancelot thought this, outside, the Commander of the Malakin Warband quickly communicated with the Inquisition. Ten minutes later, a fleet of jet-black boarding ships, covered with Inquisition seals and purification runes, arrived at the Weeping Ones' mothership with a large number of people.

……

The first to step out of the cabin was Severin, the judge of the Devil's Tribunal.

She wore a deep black judge's robe, the hood pulled low to cover most of her face, revealing only her taut jawline, a pair of cold, piercing eyes, and the gently moving rosary that represented the court of judges hanging on her chest.

The name sounds like rose, which seems to be related to flowers, but the Empire never uses such fragile things, and the nature of the Inquisition would never use such delicate flowers. This thing looks more like an elongated "工" (gong), with a golden human head in the middle, symbolizing purity.

Severine is a very young inquisitor apprentice, but her age will never affect her authority as an inquisitor.

In fact, the younger the age, the more it proves the judge's outstanding ability; otherwise, her mentor would not have so easily placed the responsibility on a young person.

She stepped inside. Closely following her were two groups of inquisitors from the Inquisition and the Demon Inquisition: Arbitrators clad in heavy black armor, wielding explosive rifles and purifying flamethrowers, their faces expressionless.

There were also several senior arbitrators from the Ministry of Justice, as well as two cold-faced bio-sages from the Mechanic Church, whose cybernetic bodies gleamed with a metallic sheen and whose optical eyepieces flickered incessantly.

The entire inspection team remained silent, exuding a palpable sense of menace and scrutiny. Meanwhile, inside the monastery, the Space Marines of the Lamenters were already lined up.

Malakin stepped forward. They were unarmed, and had even removed their power armor, but the height difference resulting from the genetic modification surgery still exuded an overwhelming aura. As the chapter leader, his gaze was fixed on Severina, his voice steady and powerful:

"I accept all lawful scrutiny from the Inquisition, but I demand that the process respect the honor of the Chapter. The Lamenters are the great sons of Sanctuary! They have never bowed to Chaos!"

After speaking, the commander of the Malakin Warband fell silent, while Judge Severina looked at the warriors before her, her pupils changing slightly.

"Loyalty is not something you can say, it's something you can prove with evidence."

Severin retorted in this way, and Chapter Master Malakin glanced at the Inquisitor Apprentice in front of him. Even though Chapter Master Malakin wasn't very good at handling interpersonal relationships, his wisdom made him realize that the Inquisitor Apprentice was in a bad mood.

But that doesn't matter.

Commander Malakin proudly puffed out his chest. The Weepers were no longer the same. They possessed sacred relics; they were the offspring of Saint Gilles, protected by the glory of Saint Gilles. The Mother of Tears was utterly pure.

Perhaps Severine's mentor already understood this, which is why he simply sent his student to walk the set.

But for Severine right now... her bad mood is also because of her mentor!

As a top student assigned to the Inquisition from the Loyal Lineage Academy, Severin was filled with faith in the God-Emperor and love for the people of the Empire. She was like a newly ignited fire, hating all aliens and heretics.

As wise as she is, she can easily see through the tricks of cultists and aristocratic heretics.

By leveraging her noble status within the Inquisition, she was able to unite all forces within the Empire that could be united, continuously achieving victories, building connections, and eliminating the Empire's enemies. At a young age, she already enjoyed immense prestige.

Even so, her mentor, who was nearing retirement age, still kept many things from her. On her mentor's ship, there was always an area that only her mentor could enter.

Severine initially thought it was because she wasn't capable enough, but during a campaign to exterminate Chaos Wizards, she encountered a demon host covered in blue feathers.

It possesses the ability to freeze time in a certain place. Severin originally had a precise grasp of the distance and was preparing to blast it to death, but just before this demon host was about to be killed, it laughed loudly at Severin.

"This won't be the last time we meet!"

"I won't die here either! Your mentor is a madman, but to see your final, devastated face, I might consider working for him!"
