Chapter 93 The Knight King
Chapter 93 The Knight King (19/20)
Without a doubt, this is their King of Knights!
Meryl Astram's soul and body trembled with excitement as he looked at Lancelot before him, at the longsword in his hand and the shield, at his heroic posture, and he understood that this man would be able to lead the Dark Angels to a bright future.
Arriving atop the giant rock, Lancelot stepped onto it as if it were the most natural thing in the world, looking down at the remaining loyal dark angels in this inverted world.
Standing with his sword in hand, Lancelot felt all eyes on him at that moment. Those fervent gazes, filled with expectation, longing, and loyalty, were something Lancelot had felt before from the Weeping Ones, but clearly, the Dark Angels' eyes held a deeper emotion.
To the mourners, Lancelot was a respected elder.
But for the Dark Angels of the Reversed World, Lancelot is their new Legion Master, a great being capable of leading the First Legion to wash away past shame! He could even be considered their new Genetic Father!
Moreover, the weeping ones numbered at most a hundred, while before him stood a thousand dark angels, including even the severely wounded Fearless. Looking at them, Lancelot couldn't help but sigh.
His initial plan was to bring Guilliman into this world for a battle of wits, soldier against soldier, general against general. However, when he arrived, Guilliman failed him, forcing him to muster his courage and fight on. He never imagined that they would ultimately achieve such a great feat.
Doesn't this just make the burden on my shoulders even heavier?
Originally, because of the trust placed in the yellow-skinned people in this world, because of the people of Nuthria, and because of the will of those people, he was somewhat worried about this Reversal Universe. So, after obtaining something in the Marvel universe that could turn the tide of the war, he immediately brought Guilliman to this universe after waking him up.
Now that he has become the true leader of the world's number one legion, there is even less reason for him not to care more about this world.
He should be a transmigrator who freely roams the myriad worlds.
But looking at the dark angels before him, and at the battle-hardened warriors, the thought of turning around and running away irresponsibly always made Lancelot ashamed.
This identity—if it were to be found in the canon, it would be quite a mess. I wonder what the true Lion King, the loyal Primarch in the canon, would think if he saw himself.
Lancelot was thinking and preparing, and at that very moment, a unified sound of pounding one's chest and bowing rang out.
"King of Knights!"
"King of Knights!"
"King of Knights!"
The battle cry echoed throughout the Stone Fortress, gently drawing Lancelot's thoughts back to reality.
The King of Knights?
The name Lancelot is somewhat intriguing, but since it's a reversed world, there's no need to worry about it too much.
Looking at the dark angels in front of him, Lancelot noticed that they were not wearing weapons, or even carrying power backpacks. Even Dreadnought's weapons had been removed.
Lancelot didn't want to see this, so he spoke loudly: "My name is Lancelot, the one who drove out the Black Lion! I did not accomplish this great feat by my own strength alone, but loyal warriors of the First Legion, my expedition is not over yet. If you trust me, then I am willing to share my glory with you."
Lancelot looked down at the dark angel before him, then issued his first command: "If you believe in me as your King of Knights, then return to the Stone Fortress now, change into your armor, and appear before me in full uniform!"
Lancelot gave the order, and the loyal dark angels rose up with great excitement. They were so excited that even without their power packs, they rushed into the giant stone fortress at lightning speed!
Some comical situations even arose, with the massive Dreadnoughts allowing the tech sergeants they usually disliked to stand atop their mechs, enabling them to return to the fortress more quickly to reload and arm themselves.
Lancelot waited quietly, and soon a perfectly aligned legion of black knights emerged from the boulder.
The Leon Rebellion occurred only a few thousand years ago, but all the loyal Dark Angels who survived during those millennia were, without exception, seasoned veterans.
A significant portion of them even experienced the Battle of Zaidan.
After all, the Dark Angels who survived the bloodiest wars could also use their sense of smell to evade the pursuit of the Primarchs and the forces of Chaos during the Dark Ages.
At this moment, the loyal First Legion looked at their new King of Knights, Meryl Astland, who stepped forward first and knelt down on one knee before Lancelot: "King of Knights! I praise your great achievements! And please forgive my dereliction of duty. Currently, there are only a thousand Dark Angels in the Stone Fortress. The brothers Ravenwing and Deathwing have all been wiped out in order to protect us. Two of the Dark Angels' six wings have been broken, and the rest are like candles in the wind."
"But finally, we have witnessed your arrival! Now, the loyal Dark Angels can finally unite under one banner! We will obey your will and fight for the human empire!!"
"In that case, I shall now announce my first order."
As the Knight King spoke, all the Dark Angels listened attentively. Lancelot's gaze swept over everyone before he spoke earnestly: "First! The Legion has no secrets!"
"In that era, the Dark Angels, as the Emperor's first army, fought against aliens throughout the galaxy and were allowed to preserve the terrible technologies and horrific creations left over from the Dark Ages."
"Those things are secrets, but now, as the Knight-King of the Dark Angels, I am ready to reveal these secrets to our allies, to their Primarch, Anglona!"
Lancelot stood atop the boulder, issuing his first command. All the dark angels looked at Lancelot, offering no objection whatsoever! The dark angels were absolutely obedient to the new king's will.
And so, within the giant rock, Dreadwing, who was in charge of all kinds of extinction weapons, began explaining to Lancelot, along with Anglona, the deadly contraptions possessed by the Dark Angels—
After walking through the secret chambers of the Dark Angels' Stone Fortress, Lancelot finally gained a direct understanding of the danger level of the First Legion.
If the megalith is a powder keg, then everything contained within is a terrifying contraption ready to explode at any moment! Even the slightest leak could turn an entire star sector into a death zone—a truly horrific thing.
Dreadwings are the most numerous among the remaining Dark Angels. In the six-winged structure of the Dark Angels, each wing has its own responsibilities. Deathwings and Ravenwings are the branches responsible for combat and stealth, but in order to protect something more important, and to protect the legacy within their monolith, the loyal Deathwings and Ravenwings have all perished.
But their sacrifices finally paid off.
At this moment, the true Legion Commander and a Primarch received the relics they had preserved!
