And deep within hell, there lies an ancient castle.
A colossal palace forged from some kind of black rock and bones, without a dome, exposed directly to the fiery red sky, with towering pillars, broken walls, and reliefs of horns, skulls, and demons.
All around were eternal wails, agonizing roars, the sounds of exploding flames, and boiling lava.
In the center of this great hall stood a throne, upon which sat a tall, thin demon with red skin, draped in a scarlet cloak.
He is the ruler of this hell, Mephisto.
He leaned against the throne, opened his eyes which had been closed, and a terrifying coldness flashed in them.
The surging, turbulent energy seemed to shake the entire hell, and countless demons within it screamed in fear and confusion as to why their master was so angry.
"Human brat!!"
Mephisto uttered the name that enraged him.
He never expected that his two mishaps on Earth would be caused by a mere seventeen or eighteen-year-old human boy.
Not only did his own human energy projection perish, but his plan, which he had been laying out for a thousand years, also completely failed.
However, Mephisto calmed down very quickly.
Mephisto is realistic and rational.
He is rarely emotional, or even when he is, he immediately corrects himself and thinks critically to find opportunities that are in his favor.
If necessary, he can abandon his so-called dignity to grovel before those who are more powerful than himself.
"That kid knew I was coming beforehand, so he was waiting for me."
Once he calmed down, Mephisto quickly analyzed the situation.
He had previously thought that Matthew had approached Old Carter because the Witchheart Demon had been discovered, but now he dismissed that idea; Matthew must have known about his presence on Earth beforehand.
That kid's target is him.
The Ancient One?
Mephisto immediately pictured a bald old woman in his mind. He looked up at the sky and, through the dimensions of hell, saw the Ancient One, the strongest being on earth, fighting against darkness amidst chaos and starry skies.
He seemed to see a smile playing on the other person's lips.
"Damn woman."
Mephisto cursed under his breath, the flame in his heart completely extinguished.
He can't afford to mess with this woman.
The Ancient One is very strong, extremely strong, so strong that Mephisto wouldn't dare to provoke her lightly. It's because the Ancient One also has Odin of Asgard that he doesn't dare to covet Earth.
Even more terrifying, the woman was dying.
The most terrifying and dangerous period for a strong person is not during their peak, but rather the time when they are about to die.
During this period, anyone who dares to provoke them will inevitably face a fight to the death.
Putting yourself in his shoes, if Mephisto were on the verge of death, he would definitely find an opponent to take him down with him.
Bring one along and you'll make a killing.
That's the most troublesome part.
He dared not provoke the Ancient One, nor did he dare to set foot on Earth casually, but then a new star with extraordinary talent, Matthew, appeared.
This means that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Ancient One would inevitably protect Matthew and help him grow up smoothly before her demise.
Mephisto suddenly felt helpless against Matthew.
Even his own eldest son was arrested.
but...
Mephisto narrowed his eyes. Compared to himself, it seemed that Dormammu, the Dark Dimension Lord who was currently fighting against the Ancient One, was more anxious.
"Perhaps, I can lend a hand." Mephisto laughed, a cunning laugh.
The scorching sun beat down on the area of St. Michael's Cemetery that had been razed to the ground.
"OK, we're in trouble."
Standing before the enormous, bottomless crevice that stretched for thousands of meters, a middle-aged white man in a suit took off his sunglasses, leaned forward to take a look, and then shrugged at the burly man behind him.
Apart from the two people, the entire area was surrounded by a large number of people.
The cordon was set up, and trucks and excavators kicked up clouds of dust.
"That's spectacular, Coulson."
A burly man, dressed in a simple T-shirt, red leather jacket, and jeans, placed his palm on his forehead, gazed into the distance, and sighed.
This area looks like it has been ravaged by countless meteorites, with craters of all sizes everywhere, especially this bottomless crack that is thousands of meters long.
It was absolutely not something that humans could have caused with technological weapons.
Whether it's some kind of supernatural phenomenon or something truly man-made, it all indicates trouble.
"That's why I said we're in trouble, Clint."
Coulson didn't want to complain, but he was really helpless right now.
Since his perception was shattered once in the 1990s, he has carried out many strange missions, but none of them have been as challenging as this one.
Coulson dared to say that his heart was pounding abnormally and he felt a strange sense of fear.
Coulson is an agent, a top-tier agent.
His years as a secret agent have enabled him to control his emotions well, including fear and anxiety.
He had carried out undercover missions and was subjected to torture and interrogation by the enemy, but he never felt fear in the face of physical torment.
But now, just standing here, he feels it.
It is easy to imagine that something unimaginable and beyond comprehension must have happened last night.
"How are you feeling, Clint?"
"I feel terrible, I feel like throwing up." Clint's face didn't look good, and Coulson could tell; he certainly felt the same way.
That lingering aura of terror did not affect the body, but rather the mind and will.
If Clint were a coward, he probably would have wet his pants on the spot.
"So this is the best place for us to talk."
Coulson pulled the earphones out of his ears and waved them at Clint, from which came a series of noisy sounds.
"Is there a special magnetic field here?"
Clint immediately understood. He glanced around casually and saw agents working diligently in the distance, digging the ground, clearing the site, setting up outposts, and building equipment.
"The collision of two completely different types of energy here resulted in a very long period of magnetic field disturbance and signal loss."
"The images taken of the big guys flying over us are blurry."
Coulson pointed upwards with his sunglasses.
"Okay, it seems the situation is very bad." Clint suppressed his fear and frowned.
The fact that two agents were forced to communicate in this way shows how bad the situation was.
"Indeed, with Director Fury's authorization, we conducted an internal investigation. Although they hid it very well, we were still able to determine that there were significant problems within our ranks."
Coulson was positioned to the side of Clint.
This orientation is very strategic, ensuring that the two people can face away from the distant agents while having a flat plain in front of them.
