Chapter 80 God's Prophecy
Chapter 80 God's Prophecy
When they returned to the starting town, their previous experiences made them quicken their pace and head straight for the weapon shop.
"Phew—I didn't expect to encounter such an exciting mission!"
Mitt stood at the entrance of the weapon shop and let out a long breath. He said to his teammate beside him, "I thought it was just a safe zone on the edge of the grassland, and that my luck wouldn't be this bad. But we just ran into a monster."
"And the opening scene was so engaging! It really enhanced the immersive experience!"
She changed her tone and added with a wry smile, "But it would be troublesome if we encountered a similar mission again in the future—so let's buy some equipment first."
As you push open the door, the NPC inside immediately greets you warmly: "Welcome! We've just received a batch of new weapons; please feel free to choose and try them out!"
Mitt's gaze swept across the weapon rack, and he quickly locked onto a uniquely designed weapon. His eyes lit up, and he strode over to it.
Upon closer inspection, a floating weapon information box immediately popped up in front of me: "Dragon Fang Scythe"—a two-handed weapon specially prepared for beginners.
"I didn't expect to see this in the Town of Beginnings—during the closed beta, you had to complete a special mission..."
You can only get it after unlocking the additional skills!
Meanwhile, Asuna walked to the rapier display area, picked up a beginner weapon called "Steel Rapier," and began to carefully examine its attributes. The battle she had just experienced had given her a greater fondness for this type of weapon.
Yuuki glanced at the newly released long katana next to her, a hint of interest flashing in her eyes, but she ultimately suppressed her curiosity and chose the rapier as she had initially decided. She then walked to Asuna's side and began to discuss it with her in a low voice.
After everyone finished their purchases, their funds were almost depleted.
After briefly inquiring about the "Witch's Hut" from the shopkeeper, they left the weapon shop.
In a secluded corner of the starting town, a small purple house appeared out of nowhere.
The flowers blooming all around shimmered with a faint purple light, making the whole little house appear exceptionally mysterious and eerie.
This little house was completely different from the overall style of the starting town, as if it existed outside of the world. Therefore, Yuki and the other two quickly realized that this was the place that the katana master had mentioned earlier.
As the crowd approached, a middle-aged man with meticulously combed silver hair emerged from the house.
He glanced at the crowd indifferently, a meaningful smile playing on his lips, before leaving.
The group pushed open the door and entered, only to find two figures busily working inside.
One of them was a young, dark-haired girl. Noticing the new customers, she said to another woman wearing a witch's hat, "Mommy, there are new candidates!"
The woman didn't even turn her head, casually replying, "Let's talk about it when your father gets back. He loves playing these kinds of pretend games, doesn't he?"
Hearing this, the little girl stomped her foot in dissatisfaction and muttered, "Honestly, Mom is so withdrawn—if we rely solely on Dad, when will we ever find out the truth behind this strange event!"
The witch's tone remained nonchalant: "It doesn't matter, I'm enough on my own. Once I unravel the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone, all the problems of this world will finally be solved."
She paused, then added, "So, remember to have your dad collect the data and give it to me; I need it for reference."
"Alright, Yui understands! But Mom, remember to get some rest too!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the little girl ran quickly to the group, a cute smile blooming on her face, and said, "Um, ladies, I'm so sorry! My mother is a bit capricious—you must have all been invited by my father, right?"
She tilted her head slightly and continued in a light tone, "Father is busy right now and should be back in a little while. Until then, let me tell you all a story!"
"It is said that long, long ago, the various races on the continent of Uniel lived together peacefully."
"Until one day, for reasons unknown, a conflict broke out between the gods of the sky and the gods of the earth—"
"From that moment on, war spread throughout the world."
"In the end, the gods of the sky triumphed. They descended countless enormous rings upon the cities inhabited by various races, shattering the entire continent of Yunier into pieces."
"The land that was cut off was taken away by the gods of the sky, and a completely new world was built on it."
"However, the land is something nurtured by the earth gods. Once it is separated from its foundation, it also loses the source of its magic. As for why those continents floating in the sky have not collapsed, no one knows now."
"But in that new world, people could no longer use magic directly. This catastrophe was later known as the 'Earth Severance.'"
Yui paused slightly, then deliberately emphasized her words.
"And the name of that new world is..."
"Aincrad!"
After recounting the anecdote she had heard from who-knows-where in a storyteller-like tone, Yui clapped her hands lightly and returned to her original lively self.
"The story I just told you is roughly the legend about this world that my father once told me. I've heard that this kind of story has gradually faded away over time, but..."
She turned her gaze to Yuki beside her, her tone slightly softening, and said with a hint of shyness, "It seems the elves have more detailed information—I won't embarrass myself by showing it here."
She paused, then smiled again, her tone becoming lighter: "Besides that, there's another piece of news that might interest you!"
"It is said that after the gods of the sky discovered that magic was largely unusable in the new world, they made a promise to their followers—"
—
Yui cleared her throat and, in a slightly solemn tone, imitated a deity: "In the near future, a group of beings from another world will descend upon this world. And among them, a true 'hero' will be born, bringing about change to this world!"
"The various anomalies that have appeared in Aincrad in recent years might be signs that a hero is about to arrive."
She blinked and said with a smile, "My father has been selecting brave candidates who possess noble qualities in his eyes lately."
"I suppose you're one of them?"
Just then, the door was pushed open, and the katana master we had met before led a black-haired man in. The man's hair was slightly long, but it was very neatly styled, giving him a calm and capable impression.
He spotted Yuki and the other two inside the house at a glance, and greeted them casually, "Yo, you guys are here too!"
As he spoke, he pulled a manual from his pocket, waved it at the three of them, and said with a smile, "Perfect timing, I have something I want to give you!"
