Evolving by devouring from a young dragon
Chapter 61 Lich
Alduin stared at the bone lich that had been burned to ashes, his dark golden vertical pupils narrowing slightly, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.
He had just absorbed the remnant soul of the Bone Lich, and according to his own devouring talent, there should have been a power feedback, but at this moment his body was completely calm, without the slightest sensation.
Just as Alduin was deep in thought, a deep voice came from behind him.
"Boss, you're amazing!"
Alduin snapped out of his daze, looked at Blue lying on the ground covered in cracks, and remained silent for two seconds.
"You still have the energy to flatter?"
Blue grinned, revealing a憨厚 (honest and simple) smile: "Hehe."
Alduin ignored him, pressing his claws against Blue's chest. The power of embers surged into Blue's body along the wound. Blue groaned, and the cracks on his body stopped widening, but they were still far from healing.
"Boss, am I going to die?" Blue asked in a deep voice.
Fire has a natural ability to counter necromancy, but this necromancy has clearly invaded his core.
Seeing Blue's injured state, Alduin frowned, then something occurred to him, and a thought struck him.
"Don't worry, go back and have that dwarf perform a minor surgery on you, and you'll be fine."
"Minor surgery?" Blue repeated the word, his voice tinged with doubt. "Boss, with that dwarf's size, can he even touch my chest?"
Auduin glanced at him.
"Why don't you lie down?"
Blue opened his mouth, then closed it again.
He looked down at the crack in his chest, where a gray-black necromantic aura flickered, like tiny insects wriggling.
"Does it... hurt?"
Auduin did not answer the question. He turned around, took a few steps toward the mine, and flicked his tail behind him.
"You should be able to get back to the swamp on your own."
Having said that, without waiting for Blue's response, Alduin spread his enormous dark golden wings, took off, and disappeared into the sky.
Alduin spread his wings, the dark golden wings drawing an arc in the twilight. Instead of returning directly to the dragon's lair, he flew towards the Salamander King's lair.
This creature's lair was near the underground lava river in the Bone Hills. Alduin only sent orcs to clean it up once after its death, without thoroughly investigating it.
After Alduin left, the dragon's might in the air had not completely dissipated when Grimm rushed over, panting heavily.
Upon seeing the wounded Blue and the ashes of the bone lich, his single eye widened instantly.
Blue slowly stood up, supporting himself. He didn't say anything, but just looked in the direction his boss had left and gave him a simple, honest smile.
……
Auduin squinted as he looked at the dried-up lava river before him.
If he guessed correctly, the fire lizards used to live here, which indirectly suppressed the undead aura.
Undead creatures will only begin to be born after it dies.
Alduin frowned as he recalled the bone lich he had seen.
Logically, this conjecture should be correct, given the large number of skeletons and necromantic magic present; it wouldn't be surprising to find a high-ranking undead like a bone lich. But...
His talent, however, received no feedback whatsoever...
Then there are only two possibilities.
Either the bone lich isn't completely dead.
This possibility is indeed not low. Liches, these undead creatures, are also known as undead creatures. Although fire magic has a restraining effect on them, their true souls are not in their bodies, but are stored in soul caskets.
As long as the Soul Box remains intact, they will not die.
Although bone liches are high-level undead creatures with low intelligence, they also possess the characteristics of liches, such as having a soul casket.
The appearance of the soul boxes varies, including rings, necklaces, and so on. Moreover, their locations are known only to the individuals themselves, and they may not even be in the material plane.
Therefore, this speculation is very reasonable.
Another possibility is that this bone lich is not a lich that transforms itself, but a "pseudo-lich" forcibly created by some being using necromancy.
Alduin recalled the massive skeleton, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
That's the exclusive magic of the Bone Lich, the Undead Body.
The true form of the undead is not as fragile as an ordinary skeleton, but a necromancer battle body forcibly condensed from a massive amount of bones and pure necromancy.
When cast, the bone lich's bones will frantically gather and reshape, its size will increase dramatically, its bones will become indestructible, and it will be surrounded by a necromantic black mist that corrodes everything, giving it extremely strong immunity to physical attacks and ordinary magic.
It belongs to the true high-level magic, even approaching the legendary level.
But here's the problem.
A bone lich capable of unleashing its true necromancy should possess at least the strength of a peak seventh-tier being, with profound foundations and abundant, pure magic power. It would never be easily crushed by a few claws.
The previous bone lich was weak and full of flaws, yet it was able to unleash such high-level necromancy. There is only one explanation for this.
The so-called undead true form is not magic controlled by itself, but a means manipulated by someone behind the scenes; it is a puppet-like existence.
In this way, it makes sense that his Devouring Talent had no feedback.
However, it cannot be ruled out that the bone lich was an outstanding member of its kind, possessing special talents that allowed it to cast such high-level spells that were close to legendary magic.
But whichever the possibility, it means this place is being watched.
Alduin found it strange. He had just investigated and found that apart from the bones scattered all over the ground and the air filled with the aura of the dead, there was almost nothing else here.
Could it be that the guys targeting this place are after these things?
Unable to figure out the reason, he shook his head, spread his wings, and left.
When soldiers come, generals will block them; when water comes, earth will dam it. Trying to run wild on his territory won't be so easy.
When they returned to the dragon's nest, a night had passed and dawn was breaking.
Grimm crouched at the entrance, curled up in a ball, his head nodding off. Hearing the sound of wings flapping, he was suddenly awakened, looked up and saw Alduin landing, and quickly stood up.
"Great, magnificent dragon!"
"Where's Blue?"
"Where is Krieg?" Old goblin Grim rubbed his eyes. "He said he'd come back and wait for your instructions."
Alduin walked past him, lay back down on the pile of treasure, the gold coins clattering beneath him, and a fire spirit chick poked its head out from between his dragon horns and chirped softly.
Grimm stood at the entrance, unsure whether to leave or stay. He glanced furtively at Alduin's expression, unable to discern anything, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke.
"Lord Long, how badly is Bruta injured?"
"I won't die," Alduin said.
Grimm visibly relaxed. He rubbed his hands together and said, "Well... could I go check on him? Krieg is all alone, and the dwarf is too small for him to work properly."
Alduin glanced at him, said nothing, and simply nodded slightly.
Grimm turned and ran, but after a couple of steps he turned back: "Lord Dragon, over at the mine to the south..."
"Let's not worry about that now, we'll deal with it later."
Grimm nodded, then turned and ran away.
