Evolving by devouring from a young dragon
Chapter 69 Moon
He didn't speak, but simply lowered his head slightly, gesturing for her to continue.
Elunea took a deep breath, a resolute glint in her silver-grey eyes.
"I am a Moon Speaker of the Silvermoon Elf, proficient in ancient lunar magic, and I also know how to carve thousands of lunar runes. I can provide you with these runes, as long as you have enough magic crystals to support their operation."
Auduin narrowed his eyes and slowly nodded.
This is exactly what he wants. Once he fully masters lunar magic, he will be able to cast these spells directly, and his strength will advance even further.
"You're a good negotiator," Alduin finally said, his voice carrying a hint of satisfaction.
Elunea lowered her head, her forehead touching the ground, her long, silvery-white hair falling to the ground.
"So, Lord Dragon, what is your answer...?"
"I'll accept you," Alduin said, a glint of light flashing in his dark golden vertical pupils.
"Now hand over the complete inheritance you have mastered to me. As for other matters, we'll discuss them after the lich's troubles are resolved."
After all, one shouldn't be too greedy when trying to be a dragon...
Upon hearing this, Elunea hesitated for a moment before cautiously speaking, "Lord Dragon Lord, those moon-based spells... all require moonlight magic to activate."
"Pass the inheritance directly to me."
Auduin interrupted her coldly, offering no explanation.
Upon hearing this, Elunea kept her forehead pressed lightly against the ground, not daring to hesitate for even a moment longer.
As Moon Speakers of the Silvermoon Elves, the inheritance is the most core secret of the race, which cannot be accomplished by mere verbal transmission. It is the foundation for the continuation of the race and a testament to reverence for the Moon God.
She slowly rose, clasped her hands together in front of her, forming an intricate and sacred hand seal, her fingertips shimmering with a faint silvery moonlight. Then she gently closed her eyes and chanted in a long, obscure elven language.
As the chanting ended, a small silver moon rune slowly appeared between her brows. Its light gradually intensified, and countless tiny fragments of moonlight drifted out from her body, swirling and circling around her.
The engraving patterns of thousands of runes, the methods of casting ancient lunar magic, the core secrets of magic circulation, and so on, all condensed into a soft ball of moonlight, suspended between her and Alduin.
Elunea dared not look directly into Alduin's dark golden vertical pupils, and only softly said, "The inheritance is all here, Lord Dragon Lord..."
Alduin looked down at the ball of light, a glint of light flashing in his dark golden vertical pupils, as he let the moonlight merge into his brow.
His enormous dragon soul easily absorbed this inherited memory, and soon this knowledge appeared in his mind.
He didn't say anything more, but simply slightly reduced the dragon aura emanating from his body.
His gaze swept over Elunea and the other elves, who were still bowing their heads on the ground, and he said in a flat tone, "Step down. We'll fulfill the rest of our promises after the Lich War is over."
Elunea breathed a sigh of relief, bowed deeply, her long, silvery-white hair spreading out on the cold ground.
"Thank you, Lord Dragon."
She slowly rose, took two steps back, turned around, and led her people to follow Grim out of the dragon's nest.
Because the incident happened so suddenly, Grimm could only settle them in a cave near the swamp.
"The conditions are basic, so please make do with them for now," Grim said, unusually without his usual snobbish attitude. "I'll have the goblins send over some bedding and herbs tomorrow."
"That's enough," Elunea said softly.
Grim nodded, gave a few more instructions on not going near the depths of the mine and not disturbing the great dragon's rest, and then hurriedly left.
Elunea slowly sat down on the haystack, holding her short staff, her silver-grey eyes gazing out of the cave entrance.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and suppressed the rising bitterness.
Can't cry.
It's not time to cry yet.
Deep within the dragon's lair, Alduin lay on a pile of treasure, his eyes closed.
Because the dragon's soul was incredibly powerful, digesting those inheritances was only a matter of a moment, so he quickly mastered these powers.
What followed was a natural progression.
After Elunea infused the magic crystal with lunar magic, Alduin immediately absorbed it.
His devouring talent began to take effect, and in less than half a day, a wisp of his own moonlight magic appeared in his body.
Although faint, it was enough.
He lay on the pile of treasure, his eyes closed, the magic furnace within his body slowly turning, and the rest of his magic began to transform into moonlight magic, flowing through his dragon body.
The fire spirit chick peeked out from between his horns, curiously sensing the unfamiliar magical fluctuations within its master's body. It chirped once and then shrank back inside.
In the days that followed, Alduin never left the dragon's lair again.
He devoured magical beasts during the day, slept and cultivated to increase his strength; at night he studied the inheritance and researched magic.
Grimm delivered the territory's report on time every day: the firewalls were functioning normally, mine production was stable, and the fog concentration in the direction of the Hengduan Mountains had not changed significantly.
Everything proceeded as planned.
The Silvermoon Elves were not idle either.
Elunea led her people to set up runes around the outer perimeter of the fire wall.
They mixed moonstone powder with magic crystal fragments to draw silver-white patterns on the ground.
The patterns are almost invisible during the day, but at night they emit a faint moonlight, intertwining with the dark red flames of the fire wall to form a red and white light curtain.
Blue remained unchanged, guarding the edge of the barren hills, the runes on his stone body pulsating with a dark red light.
He wasn't interested in the elves, nor did he speak to them. He would only occasionally glance at their busy figures with his stone eyes before closing them again to doze off.
Rift Fang was quite curious. He rode his winged beast around the outer perimeter of the defensive line several times, staring at the silvery-white runes for a long time before finally concluding, "They're quite beautiful."
Krieg has carved many fire runes. He learned the carving techniques for the moon runes from Alduin, but he still needs time to digest them.
Days passed by like this.
Alduin's moonlight magic is slowly increasing, Elunea's rune defenses are gradually improving, and the territory's defenses are being strengthened day by day.
Deep within the Hengduan Mountains, those hollow, pupil-less eyes continue to watch silently in the darkness.
A ghostly green flame flickered in his eyes as he muttered to himself, "The souls of these elves, combined with those of the orcs, are enough to complete the sacrifice..."
"The soul of that hybrid black dragon... I hope it's not too fragile, otherwise..."
It sank into the basin.
The peaceful days did not last long.
In the dead of night, a roar came from the depths of the Bone Hills. The originally stable Moonfire Rune defense line suddenly shone with a fierce silver light, colliding violently with the surging necromantic power in the air. The rune patterns trembled slightly, showing signs of instability.
Alduin suddenly opened his dark golden vertical pupils, and embers instantly rose around him.
He murmured softly, "This is... a dragon?"
