Chapter 111 I Want Water

The battle over Times Square is over, and Peter has deactivated the hacking of electronic devices worldwide.

Homelander was wrapped in a crimson ribbon of solar dust, forming an immobile cocoon, suspended in mid-air in the very center of Fifth Avenue.

The ribbons around his eyes were still trembling slightly, and his heat vision was completely absorbed by the sun's dust, not even a sliver of red light could be seen through.

The streets reeked of burning cars, and shattered glass, illuminated by the blue light of hundreds of thousands of screens, resembled scattered stars.

Everyone around the world who still uses internet-connected electronic screens saw Homelander act like a madman, threatening to kill everyone who opposed him, before being bound like a dumpling by a strange man in a red and blue bodysuit using red light strips.

People on the street peered out of the smashed shops, emerged from the broken glass of the office buildings, and poured out of the subway station stairwells, taking pictures of the cocooned false god with their phones.

These people who love to join in the fun, having just escaped the fear of death, are already uploading the video of Homelander being restrained to every platform they can find, with upbeat background music.

Ignoring the bloodthirsty audience who kept filming him, Peter, carrying Homelander's cocoon, took off from Times Square, leaving behind a still screaming Manhattan and a plume of smoke slowly rising in the night wind.

He carried Homelander, who was still struggling in his cocoon, and landed on the top-floor helipad of the Water Tower.

Sun dust peeled off his suit and spread along the edge of the tarmac.

The crimson nanocrystals spread along every inch of the glass curtain wall, completely sealing off the entire building from the inside out.

The Walter employees still inside the building were horrified to discover that all communication devices had lost signal at the same instant.

Peter walked into the meeting room of the seven-person group on the top floor of the Water Tower.

Homelander was bound by the dust of the sun, suspended in mid-air not far behind him.

The surface of the red cocoon still had slight undulations; the people of the motherland had not given up the struggle.

Sun dust continued to emanate from Peter, drifting into every corner of the Water Tower.

Under Friday's control, this solar dust will read every paper document hidden in a secret corner and every server in an offline server room.

The current timeline is at the beginning of the fifth season of The Boys.

Homelander is now the de facto dictator of the United States. He has installed a puppet president, turned the White House into a private palace, and imprisoned a large number of people who openly oppose him in concentration camps called "Freedom Camps".

Ironically, even though he was systematically persecuting his opponents, before Peter came into this world, Homelander's parody memes were still widely circulating on the internet.

There are plenty of ordinary people who dislike Homelander, but none of them are as direct and aggressive towards him as Peter.

As for the main characters, the Black Robe Boys, they had already fallen apart months ago.

Butcher disappeared with a virus capable of wiping out all superpowered individuals. Hughie, Breast Milk, and French were imprisoned in the Freedom Camp, and Starlight was declared a traitor and sent underground to resist.

Ashley Barrett, the CEO of the Water Group, is now the Vice President of the United States.

She injected herself with compound five, gaining the ability to read minds, at the cost of growing a second face on the back of her head.

Homelander found it very entertaining, so he kept her with him.

Ashley huddled in the corner of the conference room, trembling, with a few more strands of hair missing from her scalp.

She watched as the strange man in the red and blue bodysuit sat down in the chair that originally belonged to Homelander.

Then, the strange man's voice rang out: "Come out, if you don't want to die."

Ashley rose from the corner and walked unsteadily toward Peter at the conference table.

She felt a deep-seated fear of Peter because, in the world of the Black Robes, powerful superhumans often meant a level of perversion that matched their superpowers.

In Ashley's eyes, the superhuman who could defeat Homelander was definitely someone far superior to Homelander, who loved drinking human milk and cried all the time.

The giant baby who indiscriminately commits murder is an even more twisted and perverted freak.

"Ashley Barrett," Peter said, sitting in Homelander's high-backed leather chair, his hands clasped on the conference table, "your alter ego is still trying to read my mind. You're really fearless."

Ashley shuddered.

She could feel the face on the back of her head writhing wildly, and Beshley screaming a high-frequency noise she had never heard before in her head.

It felt like a radio being forcibly connected to 100,000 radio stations broadcasting different news simultaneously, or like a neural interface with its current limiter removed being stuffed into the sum of noise from the entire Times Square.

Ashley's two personalities' thoughts were overwhelmed by the thought fluctuations emitted by countless symbiotes.

What Beshley read wasn't the true Hive Mind, but merely Peter's recollection of his time as the Black Emperor.

After Ashley, who had collapsed to the ground, finally recovered from the noise that could drive even the most weak-willed person mad, Peter tapped the huge round conference table with his fingers.

"A small warning: Don't try to read the thoughts of strangers."

Ashley's teeth chattered, and she stammered, "What—what do you want from me?"

"Oh, how so?" The sound of Peter tapping his fingers on the table echoed in the meeting room where only the two of them were present.

"Because you didn't kill me like you crushed an ant, it means you have a use for me."

Peter nodded and stopped banging on the table. "Walt, I want Walt."

Ashley stood up from the ground, thinking Peter was referring to Compound Five (Walter Compound).

"There are hundreds of bottles of that stuff in Homelander's room. I'll go get it for you right away."

“No, no, no,” Peter interrupted. “I don’t want Vought’s products. I want the entire Vought, its employees, its databases, its laboratories, its production lines, its patent archives, its logistics network, all the secret contracts it has with the Department of Defense, and every penny it uses to bribe congressmen.”

As Peter spoke, he extended his hand, which was covered by his suit, and holographic light and shadow emanated from the solar dust.

Those were all the traces of the Water Group found on the internet and inside the Water Tower on Friday.

Peter tapped his fingers lightly on the conference table.

The complete archives of Project Odessa, Stan Edgar's secret memos, original records from Homelander's laboratory, and all physically isolated experimental data.

Peter paused, letting Ashley process what he was saying, before continuing, "But some things were never recorded. They're not on any piece of paper, not on any server, not in any encrypted email."

They only exist in people's minds. And you, Ashley Barrett, you are one of only two people in Walter who know enough inside information yet haven't been silenced by those super-giant babies.
