American comic book: Absolute Spider-Man
Chapter 16 Tony Stark
Just as Gwen was about to leave, Peter's voice came through her earpiece.
After listening to Peter's words, Gwen addressed the expectant reporters, saying, "Please don't rush. If you want to know more about me, you can follow me on TikTok. Just search my name on a search engine; you'll find me there. This is the only place to find me; no other site has reposted this!"
After saying that, she swung away on her spider webs and left the scene, leaving behind reporters snapping photos of her back and belated police officers.
Sheriff George Stacy arrived at the scene with reinforcements.
He strode forward, his eyes sweeping over the mess on the ground.
Fragments of the broken mechanical wing lay scattered on the concrete ground. Vulture and a group of black market traders were bound together like dumplings by spider silk and lay paralyzed on the spot. Reporters swaggered around the scene, taking pictures of the subdued criminals and the stunned police officers.
His face instantly darkened, and he raised his hand to issue orders.
"Everyone back off! Establish a three-tiered security zone. No unauthorized personnel are permitted to approach!"
He first led his men to drive away the reporters who were disrupting the scene, and then sent several police officers to set up a cordon to keep the enthusiastic media and onlookers outside, preventing the physical evidence at the scene from being further destroyed.
He bent down to quickly check the condition of the officers on the ground and instructed the accompanying medical personnel to treat the injured officers immediately.
He then strode over to the vulture secured by the spider silk, squatted down, and tugged at the extremely tough silk. His brows furrowed, and he ran his fingertips over the texture of the silk, his eyes filled with doubt.
He ordered his subordinates to bring scissors, intending to remove the spider silk binding the criminals, but they soon discovered that the silk was as strong as an aircraft steel cable.
The officers replaced the scissors with hydraulic shears to cut the seemingly delicate spider silk.
The officers then handcuffed the vulture and the trader behind their backs and put them in a police car for a formal interrogation at the police station.
George turned and walked to the core evidence area of the scene.
Pointing to the scattered mechanical wing debris, Chitauri weapon fragments, and modified firearms dropped by vultures, he ordered the forensic personnel: "Sample and seal everything, especially this spider silk. Take it back to the lab immediately to analyze its composition, find out what material it is, and whether it has any special properties. Also, register these alien weapon fragments and transfer them to the supernatural evidence management department. Don't miss a single one."
He then grabbed two police officers who were closest to the scene and called over several reporters who were nearby to ask them what had happened.
As he listened, he instructed his subordinates to quickly take notes, recording everything from physical characteristics and movements to the details of the fight and the words about the online platform.
They immediately instructed their colleagues in the police technical department to investigate this previously unheard-of website, hoping to find the identity of this mysterious female hero through this clue.
He looked up at the sky where Gwen had disappeared, his gaze sweeping over the faint traces of spider silk still remaining on the small high-rise building not far away, and then looked down at the torn mechanical wing on the ground.
The metal cross-section is jagged, clearly torn apart by brute force, and several slender finger marks can even be seen deeply engraved into the metal structure in the dented areas.
He was secretly shocked that this masked female vigilante who had suddenly appeared possessed such astonishing power.
He walked to the banks of the Hudson River and ordered officers to conduct a full patrol along the riverbank to check for any remaining black market accomplices.
At the same time, personnel were deployed to monitor the surrounding high-rise buildings, keeping an eye out for suspicious figures to prevent anyone from destroying evidence or meeting with suspects.
The chaos at the scene gradually subsided. The police officers performed their duties, the physical evidence was collected one by one, the suspect was put into a police car, and the reporters continued to ask questions outside the police cordon.
George simply stood in the center of the warehouse, staring at the cobwebs and mechanical fragments scattered on the ground, his fingers unconsciously resting on the pistol at his waist.
He acknowledged that the mysterious girl helped the police subdue the criminals who were dealing in alien contraband, preventing potentially greater casualties.
But as a NYPD sergeant and a law enforcement officer who upholds the rules, he always maintains a high degree of professional vigilance towards these unregistered, highly skilled "civilian heroes."
The terrifying power, the black and white figure that could shoot spider silk, and the words she left behind that were clearly a farewell message all left him with many questions.
He took out his walkie-talkie and ordered in a deep voice, "Compile all the clues about this mysterious vigilante into a booklet, circulate it throughout the entire police station, and focus on investigating her. I need to know who she is, where she came from, what her abilities are, and why she's here."
After saying that, he glanced at the scene one last time, turned and walked towards the police car, preparing to return to the police station to conduct interrogations overnight.
……
Gwen held Peter close, shooting out webs that carried him leisurely up and down the Manhattan skyline, from the old warehouse district of Tribeca all the way north, past the sprawling skyscrapers of Midtown.
The two stood steadily on the rooftop of the Hearst Tower on West 57th Street, with the city lights stretching out behind them and the Stark Tower in the distance, its floor-to-ceiling windows clearly visible in the night.
The two sat on the edge of the rooftop, watching the endless stream of cars below.
Peter looked at Gwen, who had taken off her mask, and asked, "How's it feeling to be a masked vigilante?"
Gwen smoothed her slightly disheveled blonde hair as she removed her mask. "Not bad? Those officers were my father's colleagues, and I might even know some of them. Helping them catch criminals, how should I put it, it's like I can finally do something for my dad."
"Sheriff Stacy had no idea that the person who helped him catch the criminal was his own precious daughter."
When you do things for your family, do you care whether they know about your efforts?
Peter put his mask in his pocket. "Okay, you're right."
Peter then asked, "Did you encounter any difficulties or dangers during your encounter with the vulture?"
Gwen asked疑惑地, "Vulture? Is that the nickname of that criminal with the mechanical wings? How did you know?"
Gwen immediately filled in the blanks in her mind: "Was it that Spider-Man from another universe who told you that?"
"You guessed right."
"As for difficulties or dangers, there are almost none. Apart from being able to fly, he is just an ordinary person."
"His movements and reactions are as slow as a snail's; his attacks can't even touch me, and the spider sense you told me about hasn't been triggered even once."
"By the way, did that Spider-Man tell you about the other opponents he encountered?" Gwen asked expectantly.
Peter thought for a moment, then decided there was no need to hide it and said, "Yes, like vultures, black cats, rhinoceroses, Doctor Octopus, Professor Lizard..."
Gwen couldn't help but complain, "Why are they all animals? With Spider-Man added, it's practically a zoo!"
"That's something I also want to complain about," Peter said.
Just then, a golden and red figure, trailing a trail of flames, swept past the two men a hundred meters away and hurtled toward Stark Tower.
Inside the Mark 7 armor, a holographic interface pops up Jarvis's scan notification: Two young men and women are stranded in a high-risk area on the edge of the Hearst Tower rooftop.
Inside his armor, Tony Stark overhears two kids having a date on the edge of a rooftop.
Out of kindness, he changed direction and decided to try and persuade the playful young couple.
