American comic book: Absolute Spider-Man
Chapter 33 Aftermath
Although the Battle of Roxon Docks has ended, the profound impact of the entire event will continue to this day.
President Matthew was a smart man; as soon as he returned to the White House, he immediately got to work.
He first gave a public speech at the White House, revealing all the parts of the incident that could be made public.
The plots of Pioneer Technology that have already been thwarted, as well as the origins of those involved in experiments and terrorist attacks, are mostly the result of the US government's own actions.
The main reason Matthew dared to publicly expose these facts that undermined the credibility of the US government was that these matters really had little to do with him.
First of all, he took office in 2008 and just won re-election this November. Those soldiers in the Desperate Situation are basically the result of the problems left by previous governments.
As for the culprit behind all this—Pioneer Technology—it mainly belongs to the military-industrial complex, whose base is in the Republican Party, while Matthew is a Democrat.
Matthew directly shifted all the blame to previous administrations, congressional opponents, the military-industrial complex, and the Republican Party.
He, on the other hand, took the position of "victim" and launched a fierce attack on his political opponents.
The time bombs planted by the previous administration and the opposing party have exploded during his presidency; no one could tolerate this in his place.
As for the vice president who was bribed by Pioneer Technology, he was taken away directly by the FBI.
Of course, Matthew's political acumen goes beyond this.
He then introduced the Veterans and 9/11 Rescuers Medical Act, winning over the hearts and minds of the American people with lightning speed.
The bill would provide all 911 rescuers and veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq with lifetime free medical care, covering all related injuries and illnesses such as pneumoconiosis, cancer, and PTSD;
A one-time disability compensation and family survivor's pension will be issued to make up for all past arrears.
Implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs and provide top-notch bionic prosthetics to enable disabled people to regain a dignified life.
It even prohibits any insurance company from refusing to insure or claim for any reason, completely plugging all loopholes for shirking responsibility.
Once the bill was announced, it received overwhelming support from the American public. Veterans associations, firefighters' unions, and non-governmental organizations all voiced their support, and the public opinion chorus was full of praise.
For the Republicans, this was a bill they dared not vote against—to oppose it would mean standing in opposition to 9/11 heroes and veterans, which would undoubtedly be a complete political suicide.
They had no choice but to grit their teeth and cast their votes in favor, watching helplessly as President Ellis used this bill to completely whitewash the government's previous image of indifference and dereliction of duty, and to portray himself as a compassionate, responsible, and proactive Democratic leader.
As for the massive funds needed to implement the bill, they will come from the national treasury, or rather, from taxpayers' pockets.
Matthew even publicly pardoned some of the escaped members of Pioneer Technology who only participated in the kidnapping targeting them and did not personally participate in the terrorist attack.
He urged them to turn themselves in and assured them that those who had not committed serious offenses would not be held accountable.
The day after he made these remarks, some remnants of pioneering technology turned themselves in at the White House and specifically asked to see Matthew.
Matthew, undeterred by the danger, didn't even allow the Secret Service to search him. Right at the White House gate, in front of numerous reporters, he met with the visitors.
After a conversation, Matthew pardoned the former Pioneer Tech member's sins in front of passersby and media cameras.
The young man, who looked to be in his early thirties, was so moved by the president's actions that he kept repenting and crying.
In front of the camera, Matthew hugged the crying young man like a loving father.
The image was captured by a reporter and featured on the front page of hundreds of media outlets worldwide, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, the BBC, Reuters, AFP, Germany's Bild, and the UK's Daily Mail.
The photo went viral on social media, likened to a modern-day "prodigal son returns," and the journalist who took the picture is almost guaranteed a Pulitzer Prize.
As for whether that young man is truly a remnant of pioneering technology or just some unknown actor, that's not something the public should know.
Matthew's series of actions greatly alleviated the panic and distrust of the authorities across the United States.
Afterwards, President Matthew awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Tony Stark (Iron Man), Rhodey War Machine (War Machine), and Gwen Stacy (Spider Woman), who wished to remain anonymous, at the White House.
In an instant, Spider-Woman went from a street hero whose fans were mostly concentrated in New York to a top celebrity in the United States and even the entire Western world.
After hearing that Spider-Woman would be posting some of her daily life on TikTok, TikTok began to see a surge of new users.
If Peter hadn't spent a lot of money in advance to purchase a server to upgrade TikTok, the platform would have crashed countless times.
Of course, Peter was the one who benefited the most from the whole incident.
On the day Tony disappeared, Peter had Harry take the patents of Parker Industries to an authoritative institution for a valuation report, and then used these patents as collateral to borrow nearly $100 million from the bank.
However, patents alone were not enough to secure such a large loan from the bank; Norman Osborn's influence also played a significant role.
Of course, Peter didn't owe Norman a favor for nothing; it was an equal exchange.
Because Peter used that 100 million to buy up Stark Industries' plummeting stock price, and then sold it off when Tony made a lightning-fast comeback and the stock price skyrocketed.
Peter had no idea how much Norman, who bought and sold with them, actually made.
All he knew was that Harry had acquired a limited-edition Aston Martin One-77 worth about two million dollars, which was just a tiny fraction of Norman's earnings.
However, Peter's own profits were not limited to the stock market; the real windfall came from the legacy of Pioneer Technology.
After his strong return to the White House, Matthew Blake declared Pioneer Technology a state-sponsored terrorist organization on five counts: illegal development of biological weapons, inhumane human experimentation, planning terrorist attacks, kidnapping the president, and collusion with foreign forces. He froze all of Pioneer's assets, bank accounts, patent ownership, and equity in its global subsidiaries, depriving the tech giant of all cash flow and operational qualifications overnight.
He also signed an asset liquidation order, specifically separating all non-classified, non-military, and purely civilian physical assets under Pioneer Technology and transferring them free of charge to Parker Industries through the Federal Asset Liquidation Bureau under the guise of government support.
From two independent office buildings in downtown New York City and a large warehousing base, to a full set of office equipment, a fleet of civilian commercial vehicles, a private helicopter, and clean working capital, all of these are tangible assets that can be seen, touched, and used immediately.
Parker Industries, which originally had an estimated value of only a few hundred thousand and no decent office space besides a factory, suddenly gained a complete physical industrial foundation and completely got rid of the predicament of a small workshop.
This can be considered Matthew's true reward for Peter and Gwen standing up for him and saving his life during the battle at the docks.
As for the benefits for Tony and Rod?
Giving Tony those few dollars is no different than giving money to a beggar; it would be more worthwhile to let the reporters write more articles praising Iron Man.
As for Rhodes, he will soon have an extra star on his shoulder insignia.
Inside Stark Tower… no, to be precise, Avengers Tower, Tony struck a pose with an air of nonchalance and pressed the shutter button on his phone camera.
He clicked the publish button and then said to Peter beside him, "Peter, I will become the man with the most followers on TikTok."
