American comic book: Absolute Spider-Man
Chapter 57: Don't use the "lawyer" joke, it'll crash your plane.
Inside the Kamar-Taj temple dedicated to Vishanti, a secret but highly prestigious ceremony is underway.
The Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme, personally presided over the ceremony. White magic loops meandered throughout the temple, which was built with a great deal of mystical materials. Peter sat cross-legged in the center of the temple, at the core of the magic loops, receiving the blessing of the Vishanti.
The three Vishantian gods—Oshtu, Hoggus, and Agamotto—are infusing Peter with a very small fraction of their power, inscribing white magic circuits into his soul.
Unable to project their vision beyond the multiverse, they had no choice but to enhance Peter's combat abilities in this way to ensure he wouldn't be instantly killed when facing an overly powerful enemy.
Peter can activate the white magic circuit in his soul, unleashing its power and temporarily gaining combat power at the level of a sub-father.
Of course, this power also has many limitations.
First, it must be activated actively. If someone can make Peter lose consciousness before he can react, then this power will be useless.
Secondly, this power can only be used once, and it has extremely severe side effects.
Once Peter's magical circuits are activated, they will completely collapse, placing an immense burden on both his body and soul.
Peter will have to wait until his body and soul are fully restored before he can receive the blessing again.
The aura of white magic faded, and the blessing ended.
Peter stood up and glanced at the Ancient One, who nodded to him from in front of the altar in the temple.
Peter opened the portal.
A large group of people had gathered inside the laboratory at Avengers Tower.
In addition to Gwen, Harry, and Ned, Tony also called in several scientists: Bruce Banner (the Hulk), Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Jane Foster (Thor's girlfriend), and Shuri (the princess of Wakanda).
Peter tells Uncle Ben and the others that the Avengers are conducting a top-secret research project, and that he, as a member of it, will have to temporarily cut off all contact with the outside world.
Uncle Ben and the others didn't say anything, they just expressed their support for their nephew.
Peter is saying goodbye to Gwen and the others: "I'll be back in a while, remember to miss me!"
Peter kissed Gwen, then bumped fists with Harry and Ned, before walking to the center of a pile of observation instruments in the laboratory.
Peter and Tony exchanged a glance, and Tony said, "Come back alive, and don't let my investment go to waste."
A magical aura shone at Peter's fingertips as he opened a portal in a spatial artifact. Nanoparticles climbed up Peter's body, eventually forming a suit of gold, red, and black steel spider armor.
"Don't worry, I'm not a prison guard, how could I possibly crash?" Peter said, forming a hand seal and beginning to cast a spell.
White magical spider silk appeared in Peter's hands. With the movement of the hand seals, strands of silk were held in mid-air, like a spider spinning a web.
Peter crawled into the seemingly helpless web he had woven in the space in front of him.
Then, the net and his figure disappeared from everyone's sight.
Peter opened his eyes; he was standing on a net.
A net woven from countless white silk threads.
The net exists silently in the void, where there is no space, no time, and no concept of anything. Countless threads stretch out in the void and disappear at the end of sight.
A single thread connects his body to the net.
Peter bent down, lying on the web like a spider, his spider-sense resonating with the web, his perception extending infinitely along the web's threads.
He saw the network connecting universes, with threads dangling into each universe, intertwining and resonating with the fate of all things.
The spider totems and the silk threads connecting them to the web were particularly eye-catching. Some powerful totems even noticed Peter's gaze and cast a fleeting glance at him across endless time and space.
Peter's perception continued to expand.
The silk threads grew thicker, the knots larger, and the light brighter.
He is approaching the center of the net, where there is a node that is larger and brighter than all the other nodes.
The silk thread starts from that point and shoots out in all directions like the rays of the sun.
That is the essence of the Spider-Totem, the source of destiny for all Spider-Men.
But something else is entrenched at the node.
Peter's spider senses began to explode, the almost insurmountable fear that animals experience when they encounter their natural enemies.
Peter withdrew his senses.
It's time to go.
Peter formed a hand seal, and a halo of white magic shone upon him, projecting the power of Vishanti upon him. His "weight" on the net began to increase, and the net beneath his feet began to sag.
Peter suddenly withdrew the spell, severing his connection with Vishanti.
The net beneath his feet tightened suddenly, propelling him toward the void that was not covered by it.
Peter watched as the net grew smaller and smaller until it was finally obscured by a layer of mist, leaving only a single thread extending from the mist connecting him to the net.
In the mist, he felt his presence gradually weakening, so he took out a gem infused with the power of Vishanti's order.
The gemstone emitted a radiant glow, stabilizing Peter's presence and preventing him from being assimilated by the void.
He pierced through the mist and turned to see a massive star cluster. Each star within the cluster was a single universe, and together they formed the Marvel multiverse.
Several star clusters are located very close to the Marvel multiverse, and together these star clusters form a much larger multiverse system.
Marvel's star clusters shimmer with countless colors of dazzling light, while the light of another star cluster next to it is a confrontation between blue-green and red-black. Gazing at it, you can almost hear the buzzing of lightsabers being swung—that is the Star Wars universe.
The glowing light of the Avatar universe is like tree roots breathing slowly in the void, while acid and darkness flow through the rusty nebula of the aliens.
Several star clusters stood close together, yet never truly merged. Nearby, there was a halo of light belonging to fairy tales and old dreams.
Peter channeled the power of the Vishanti within the gem, propelling himself through the void. He gazed out at other universes beyond the Disney universe.
Paramount's star cluster is like a cold, white Milky Way, its spiral arms moving slowly, with a steady, engine-like light shining from its center. Tiny points of light move along the edges of the spiral arms, like starships migrating through the vast universe.
Sony's star cluster is like a tattered spider web, empty at the center, with a few threads each holding a lonely star, swaying independently and unconnected to the others.
Warner's star cluster is a colorful fog, with countless glowing windows floating in it.
Further away, a spiral staircase creaks and turns in the void, piles of debris huddle together silently, and a single star slowly fades away.
Peter flew through the void, heading towards a darkness he had never seen before.
A faint halo hung at the edge of that darkness, like the ring of light that peeks through the sun after it's been obscured by the moon during a total solar eclipse. That was the Origin Wall, the boundary of the DC Universe, the end of reality.
Behind the wall lies the DC Universe, a tree-like cluster of stars, a golden trunk, silvery branches, and trembling leaves.
The surface of the wall is engraved with things, one magnificent thing after another.
Everyone who has ever tried to cross this wall has left a mark on it.
Their bodies were swallowed by the wall, their consciousness was absorbed by the wall, and their story became part of the wall.
The surface of the wall undulated slightly, like a chest cavity, like lung lobes. With each undulation, the human figures embedded in the wall would twist, as if struggling, as if groaning.
Peter didn't stop; he rushed towards the wall.
The power of Vishanti condensed into a cone shape before him, and the power of white magic shimmered on the surface of the wall. The power of Vishanti is order, and the Wall of Origin is order. Order will not attack order, but will only merge with each other.
The brilliance of the gem in Peter's hand dimmed considerably, as most of the Vishanti's power of order had been diluted by the Wall of Origin.
He merged into the wall, then passed through it, and entered DC's multi-faceted system.
Now, he needs to find a specific single universe to land in.
Peter flew through the void within the DC Universe, the light of the gem in his hand growing dimmer and dimmer, threatening to go out at any moment.
He chose the universe closest to him.
This universe is enveloped by a dark red membrane, separating it from other universes.
Peter's body rushed toward the membrane at an immeasurable speed, and the membrane deformed before him, like rubber being pressed by fingers.
The power of order of Vishanti reacted violently with this membrane, the last bit of power within the gem was being consumed rapidly, and the area where the membrane and the power of order came into contact was fading quickly.
Finally, the gem's light went out completely, and Peter, having lost the protection of the power of order, crashed straight into the already very thin membrane.
Peter lost consciousness.
He penetrated that membrane, entered this universe, appeared outside Earth's atmosphere, and crashed into Earth at an extremely high speed.
The air piled up beneath him, like a hand trying to catch a falling meteorite, but it couldn't.
He was moving so fast that the air in front of him was compressed into plasma.
The artificial intelligence inside the armor started alarming, injected Peter with adrenaline, and attempted to wake him up through electric shock stimulation.
Peter did not react.
The intense heat of the atmosphere, reaching thousands of degrees Celsius, licked away the armor, gradually stripping away the vibranium nanoparticles from its surface, which were constantly repairing and automatically propelling itself forward.
Just a dozen seconds later, the nanotech armor, costing hundreds of millions of dollars, completely turned into a wisp of smoke in the atmosphere.
Peter was still falling, his body exposed naked in the atmosphere.
The scorching atmosphere stripped Peter of his skin and bones in seconds, turning him into a handful of ashes.
Spider-Man's powerful physique didn't allow him to survive more than an ordinary person in this hellish place tens of kilometers above the ground.
Peter Parker is dead.
