Chapter 86 Rewards
Chapter 86 Rewards
Peter mechanically went through the death loop, which was not a pleasant experience.
Narna's consciousness of extreme darkness and nothingness acted like a radiation source, influencing Peter's soul as it repeatedly fell into the hive of thought.
Although it was only a little bit each time, with the cumulative effect of the time loop, Peter's soul inevitably began to descend into the abyss.
The 567th death loop begins. Peter numbly walks into his bedroom, preparing to summon Venom.
Suddenly, a portal opened in his bedroom, and Wanda walked out.
Peter turned to Wanda and asked in a flat, emotionless tone, "What is it?"
Wanda tossed the magic book to Peter: "Finished reading it?"
Wanda, seeing Peter's unnatural expression, asked him in a rather impolite tone, "Hey, are you alright?"
The two are the only ones who retain their memories in the time loop. Apart from them, everyone else in this world is like an NPC. Even if you interact with them, everything will start over in the next loop.
So even though Wanda disliked Peter at first, after nearly a thousand time loops, although her attitude towards Peter was still not very polite, she at least started to care about him.
If it were the Peter of the past, he might have been cheeky enough to ask Wanda if she was captivated by his handsome face and suddenly started caring about her.
But Peter simply replied calmly, "It's okay, I'll handle Ultron myself once we've dealt with him."
Peter knew his problem: his soul was infected by nothingness, which manifested in his body as a dissociation of his personality, extremely negative emotions, and his body relying entirely on inertia to mechanically carry out the tasks assigned by his consciousness.
Peter retrieved Venom from the portal and allowed it to parasitize him. After Venom read his memories, he continued the same steps to obtain the mark.
After waking from his near-death experience, Peter saw Wanda standing beside his bed, arms crossed, looking at him, and asking, "Aren't you going to do your own thing?"
"I'm keeping an eye on you, in case you suddenly go crazy."
"Whatever you want," Peter replied, ending the cycle by storing the mark in the Eye of Agamotto.
The portal opened, and Peter walked into the bedroom, where he saw Wanda sitting on the edge of his bed.
"What is it?"
"Didn't I tell you? Keep an eye on you, lest you suddenly go crazy?"
"what ever."
Peter, wearing the symbiote suit, ignored Wanda sitting by the bed and lay down on his own bed.
Peter's hand, which was holding the sword of Vishanti, was grabbed, and he looked at Wanda.
Wanda still had a stern face, but her words were at least much gentler: "Take some time to rest. You know I have telepathy, so I know you're in a lot of pain right now."
"There's no need."
Without normal social interaction in the time loop, the body will not have needs due to hunger or fatigue, and the personality cannot find an effective anchor point. In this case, so-called rest will only accelerate the process of personality dissociation.
Peter knew this perfectly well, so after he finished speaking, ignoring Wanda's hand that was gripping him, he plunged the Sword of Vishanti into his brain.
A few minutes later, Wanda watched as Peter's brain was repaired by Venom and his chest began to rise and fall. She placed her glowing red fingers on Peter's temple.
With telepathy activated, Wanda's gaze fell on Peter's face, and she sensed a part of the emptiness and pain in Peter's heart.
Peter opened his eyes and saw Wanda's uneasy expression. He asked, "What's wrong?"
Wanda sniffed, frowned, and said, "It's nothing."
For the next few dozen cycles, Wanda did nothing else but follow Peter, watching him die and come back to life again and again.
She couldn't understand how Peter had managed to endure such a void that was worse than torture.
If it were her, she would have collapsed long ago watching her self-awareness gradually erode.
After 621 death loops, Wanda took off her shoes, hugged her knees, and sat at the foot of Peter's bed, posing her questions to him.
Peter lay in bed, Venom slowly reading his memories: "I was one of the initiators of the plan to explore the multiverse. So it is my responsibility to completely eliminate the threat of Ultron, no matter the cost."
"Do you regret it?" Wanda buried half her face in her knees.
"I have no regrets. Whether it's developing technology, cultivating magic, or exploring the multiverse, as long as it can bring power, it's something I have to do."
Our world is cruel, so cruel that there is no place for the weak to rest. To stop moving forward out of fear of potential trouble is to be a deserter.
Wanda got up, climbed to Peter's bedside, and sat down. Chaos magic condensed into a sharp blade in her hand: "Don't do it, let me do it."
Peter rested his head on the pillow, looking up at Wanda. Their eyes met at Wanda's chest. If Peter hadn't been in such a bad state, his gaze would surely have been irresistibly drawn to Wanda's World Cup performance.
"Why?" Peter asked.
Wanda, with a straight face, said matter-of-factly, "Constantly committing suicide can easily lead to mental health problems."
"There's already a problem."
Every little bit helps.
Peter paused for a moment, then said, "You're right, let's do it."
The blade pierced Peter's heart, and a sharp pain shot through him, but Peter felt little emotional turmoil.
He calmly said, "Next time, remember to stick it in the head; that way, you'll die faster."
Blood flowed from Peter's chest and back, staining the blankets beneath them. Peter gradually lost consciousness. In his dying state, hormones in his brain began to surge, and he entered a state of rapid mental replay.
When his consciousness returned to his body, the first thing Peter felt was that his head was resting on a soft place, much softer than his old, worn-out pillow.
-
He opened his eyes. Wanda's enormous breasts, covered by clothing, stood not far in front of Peter, obscuring most of his view.
Peter's head rested on Wanda's lap, with Wanda's hands placed on Peter's chest and head respectively.
Perhaps influenced by hormones that hadn't yet subsided in his brain, Peter's voice finally picked up some cadence: "What are you doing?"
"You've been through so much, can't I give you a little reward?" Wanda's words, still not pleasant, came through her chest.
Peter's mental state has improved slightly, and he has given his own response to Wanda's feigned aloofness.
Peter rolled over, changing from lying on his back to lying on his side.
He reached out and wrapped his arms around Wanda's waist, burying his face in her soft belly, and said lazily, as if he had just woken up, "I want more."
Hot breath escaped from Peter's nose, penetrating the fabric and striking Wanda's lower abdomen. Peter's sudden movement caused Wanda's body to stiffen instantly.
Peter is now quite certain that through his repeated deaths, he has developed a slight attachment to Wanda, the first person he sees when he wakes up.
This subtle feeling, which he had almost ignored, finally began to grow wildly when it awakened on Wanda's warm and soft thighs.
