Chapter 91 Business

Inside the private box at the Ivy New Club, Harry and Liz were huddled together on a single sofa, the two deeply in love and practically inseparable.

Peter and Ned sat on a spacious sofa, and Peter could clearly feel the sofa cushions sinking towards the fat man.

"Ned, you need to lose weight. If you keep doing this, you'll break the sofa."

Ned scrolled through videos on TikTok, scratching his head awkwardly: "Peter, the food in the company cafeteria is too good, I can't resist."

Peter thought of some of the cases in the Kamar-Taj textbook.

A Kamar-Taj sorcerer apprentice sacrificed a Kumanthong (a type of spirit doll) he had acquired from the Southeast Asian black market to a demon in some hellish place, hoping to gain temporary luck and then open a portal to Las Vegas to wreak havoc.

However, due to his lack of skill, he failed to discover that the sacrificial offerings he had acquired were counterfeit goods produced on an assembly line.

The real source of the almost tangible resentment mentioned above is the thousands of office workers in a certain place who are enjoying a life of luxury.

After receiving the counterfeit goods, the devil, in a fit of rage, drained the mage apprentice's luck into negative numbers.

In the rest of his life, that unfortunate apprentice never had a seasoning packet in his instant noodles, never had a pull tab on any of the cans he bought, always wasted his free viewing time on gay porn, always got 404 errors on the websites he visited, and always had his paid porn explode when the old man's face appeared.

Peter patted Ned's large stomach: "If one day you use dark magic to sacrifice flesh and blood, I wonder if some unlucky evil god will strike you dead with lightning when he sees a lump of lard in front of him."

The door to the private room was pushed open.

Peter turned his gaze to the newcomer and scrutinized him carefully.

She looked to be in her early twenties, wearing a black women's blazer with a fitted waist and shoulder line that fell right at the edge of her acromion.

The fabric is quite ordinary, but it fits well, indicating that the suit owner is not wealthy, but not in dire financial straits either.

The suit trousers were a matching black color, cropped to show the ankles, and she wore a pair of black pointed-toe high heels.

Her hair was reddish-brown, neatly tied back in a low ponytail. It wasn't particularly striking, but at least it wasn't glamorous.

The eyeliner is brown, only the inner eyeliner is drawn, and the outer corner of the eye is not upturned. The lips are painted with a thin layer of mauve. The makeup is very light, but it matches the outfit and temperament perfectly.

Peter nodded; he had passed the first hurdle.

"Mary Jane Watson. You can also call me MJ." The newcomer walked over to the sofa opposite Peter and sat down, extending her hand to Peter.

"Peter Benjamin Parker."

After shaking hands, Peter said, "MJ, you should know the position you interviewed for today, right?"

"Yes, Secretary to the Chairman of Parker Industries."

"Excuse my bluntness, but your resume isn't particularly impressive. You're currently working as an actor on Broadway, and also doing modeling on the side."

Peter said bluntly, "Liz must have told you about the salary and difficulty of this job. Forgive me for being blunt, but why are you so confident about coming for this interview? You should know that in this kind of position, Liz's connections won't help you pass the interview."

After he finished speaking, he leaned back in his chair, crossed his hands on his knees, and waited for her to speak.

Mary Jane was silent for a moment before slowly saying, "My father was an alcoholic. When my mother left him with my sister and me, I didn't even have a coat of my own. During my three years of high school, I worked as a waitress in a restaurant, a cashier in a supermarket, and a full-time weekend shift in a clothing store. Because my mother couldn't afford it, I had to find a way to pay for the SAT registration myself."

Peter raised an eyebrow. Goodness, are they going to start by talking about family of origin?

Mary Jane paused. "I'm not here to complain. But you asked me why I feel comfortable sitting here."

"Mr. Parker, you've seen my resume. You know I haven't interned at a Fortune 500 company, I don't have an MBA, and I don't have any of those impressive resumes."

She looked up at him and said, "There are only three things on my resume that I can somewhat boast about: I got into the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York on a full scholarship; I studied at FIT for four years without failing a single course, and my GPA was in the top 10% for all three years; and I received an offer from Ralph Lauren the year I graduated."

My family didn't offer me any help; I accomplished all of this through my own efforts, so I believe my abilities are worthy of this job and this salary.

Peter eventually hired Mary Jane. As long as Mary Jane wasn't the bitch from the original movie, Peter was willing to give her a hand just because of her name.

After leaving the Ivy New Club, Peter and his group headed straight for Avengers Tower.

Harry was driving his Aston Martin, with Liz in the car, speeding through the streets.

Ned was driving Peter's Maybach, with Peter and Mary Jane in the back seat.

Peter looked at the sports car making an annoying noise in front of the windshield and suddenly thought of the electric motorcycle kid.

Harry is basically a richer version of Jiahao.

Damn it, this thing is so shameful it's embarrassing to even take it out for a walk.

Newly appointed Mary Jane asked curiously, "What are we doing at Avengers Tower?"

"Let's talk business."

"Mr. Parker, are you familiar with the Avengers?"

Peter turned to Mary Jane: "I am a member of the Avengers, but I just haven't made it public."

Mary Jane's eyes widened.

Inside Avengers Tower, the Avengers and Fantastic Four were all present.

Peter walked into the bustling conference room and greeted everyone.

When Tony saw Mary Jane, an unfamiliar face, following behind Peter, and then glanced at her appearance and demeanor, he suddenly thought of his own little pepper.

So he gave Peter a subtle look, a look that seemed to ask, "Is it what I think?"

Peter glared back. Tony actually thought of him as despicable as him; it was an insult to his character.

Tony shrugged, raised his hands to his chest in a "I surrender" gesture, and had a "okay, okay, you're so high and mighty" smile on his lips.

But whether Tony truly acknowledged Peter's arrogance is something only he knows.

Mary Jane stood half a step behind Peter and witnessed the whole thing.

Peter walked to the long table, clapped his hands, and drew everyone's attention: "Let's get down to business. I invited everyone here today, not for a meal."

"Do you have any food?" Clint asked, holding up his coffee cup.

"Yes, we can eat whatever we want after the meeting. It's Tony's food anyway."

Clint nodded in satisfaction and continued drinking his coffee.

Everyone took their seats one by one and then immediately fell silent.

Peter's voice rang out in the conference room: "I'm sure Tony has already sent you all the details of what I'm going to talk about, so without further ado, let's get straight to the point."
