Chapter 109 Illuminati

The office area was unusually quiet today.

Li Wenbin sat in his office with a briefing on recent club activities spread out in front of him.

The territorial landscape in Tsim Sha Tsui underwent a new shift after the Ni family retreated, but Han Chen's line remained stable for the time being.

Meanwhile, a few arrogant young men emerged from Wo Luen Shing, causing trouble everywhere while the old guys were still recovering.

He turned to the last page of the briefing and circled several names with a pen.

Just then, there was a knock on the door twice.

"Come in."

The door opened, and a young officer from Team B entered, looking somewhat cautious.

"Officer Li, someone is looking for you outside."

Li Wenbin didn't even look up.

"The people from the Internal Affairs Department? Tell them to go directly to the conference room and wait."

"Not from the Internal Affairs Department, Inspector Lee."

The officer paused for a moment, then said, "They're from outside, not from the police station."

Li Wenbin then raised his head, put down his pen, leaned back in his chair, and remained silent for a moment.

Outsiders who come to him at this time are likely to be either asking him for a favor or asking him to do something for them.

There have been many of the former, and the latter have recently dealt with enough of the same questions: "Where is he?"

"In the lobby downstairs."

"Let him come up."

The police officer acknowledged and withdrew. Li Wenbin stood up, straightened his tie, and gathered the scattered documents on the table to one side.

He walked to the window and looked down. There was a black Mercedes parked downstairs, its body gleaming, standing out conspicuously in the parking lot full of old cars.

Shortly after, there was another knock on the door.

This time, it wasn't the same police officer who came in, but a man in his thirties.

He was wearing a dark blue suit, well-tailored, with the cuffs buttoned up meticulously, and his shoes polished so bright you could see your face reflected in them.

"Superintendent Li."

The man bowed slightly and spoke with a London accent that was quite unpleasant.

"I apologize for disturbing you."

Who are you?

Li Wenbin stood still, looking him up and down.

"My surname is Zhou, Zhou Mingde. You can call me Martin."

"What can I do for you, Mr. Zhou?"

"It wasn't me who contacted you."

Zhou Mingde smiled slightly, his tone neither humble nor arrogant, "It's my boss who wants to invite you to come over as a guest."

Li Wenbin sat back down in his chair and said expressionlessly, "Who is your boss?"

Zhou Mingde did not answer the question.

He took something out of his suit pocket and gently placed it on the table in front of Li Wenbin.

This is a ring.

The ring face was larger than that of a regular ring, and the material was neither gold nor silver, but had a dark luster that was somewhere between bronze and black iron.

There is also a pattern engraved in the middle of it.

An open eye, with a vertical line in the center of the pupil, like some kind of ancient totem.

Li Wen's pupils contracted slightly, and he immediately became serious.

Although he was just a police superintendent, due to the special nature of the Zero Division, he knew many things that ordinary people simply did not know.

For example, this ring.

Although it doesn't look very valuable and the pattern is rather strange, the symbolism behind it is extraordinary.

Illuminati.

A name that has circulated in Hong Kong's high society circles for at least half a century.

No one knows exactly how many members it has, nor does anyone know what its membership criteria are.

But there is one thing that everyone who knows it agrees on.

Those who can wear this ring are among the very few at the top of their respective industries.

When is your boss available?

Zhou Mingde took back the ring, his smile remaining impeccable.

"The car is downstairs, we can leave anytime."

"Let me explain."

Li Wenbin stood up, picked up the phone on the table, dialed an internal line, and said a few words.

After hanging up, he straightened his tie and took his coat off the hanger, draping it over his arm.

"Let's go."

Apartment in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The afternoon sunlight was mostly blocked by the curtains, with only a few rays shining in.

Le Huizhen lay on Chen Fan's chest, her hair scattered messily in the hollow of his shoulder.

Her breathing had calmed down, though she would occasionally sniffle slightly.

"It's so hot, turn on the air conditioner..."

"When you said you wanted to do it again, I didn't see you complain about the heat."

Upon hearing this, Yue Huizhen lightly scratched his chest with her fingernail.

"That's called romance, you know?"

Chen Fan felt a little itchy from her tickling, so he reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer to his arms.

She didn't struggle, and instead buried her face in the crook of his neck.

After a period of silence.

"Afan".

"Um?"

"My mom wants to see you."

"When?"

"You agreed?"

"Why won't you agree?"

Lok Wai-ching sat up, her phoenix eyes only inches away from his, her eyelashes almost touching his eyebrows.

"My mom is really talkative, aren't you afraid she'll ask all sorts of questions?"

"Just ask."

Chen Fan reached out and brushed the stray hairs stuck to her forehead with sweat behind her ear. "I didn't steal or rob, what's there to be afraid of?"

"Okay, then I'll tell her."

The two lay there for a while longer, when the alarm clock on the bedside table went off.

Chen Fan took it and saw that it was already six o'clock.

"It's acceptable."

He gently patted Lok Wai-ching on the back. "Ka-Kui is treating us to dinner tonight, it's at seven o'clock."

Lok Hui-chen lazily rolled off him, rolled up the blanket and wrapped herself up like a silkworm.

"That big-nosed one?"

"Um."

"Go ahead, go ahead."

She stretched her hand out from under the covers and waved it, "I'll lie down a little longer, my back aches."

Chen Fan got out of bed and went into the bathroom.

The sound of the shower running was deafening. When he came out, drying his hair, Lok Wai-ching had already gotten out of bed, wearing a loose T-shirt, and was putting her hair up in front of the mirror.

Chen Fan finished dressing, walked behind her, and looked at her in the mirror.

Lok Hye-jung rolled her eyes at him in the mirror.

"What are you looking at?"

"I'll only look at it if it looks good."

"Get lost."

She said that, but the corners of her mouth turned up.

After tying up the last strand of hair, she turned around and straightened his collar.

"Go ahead, don't keep them waiting."

"Um."

"Oh, right."

She called out to him as he reached the door, "Are you free this weekend?"

"There should be."

"Then let's do it this weekend. I'll talk to my mom."

Hung Wan Seafood Restaurant, Mong Kok.

When Chen Fan arrived, curry and chili were sizzling over the menu.

"Brother Fan!"

Chili immediately stood up when she saw him. "You order, you order! Curry and I have been looking at this for ages, and this lobster is so expensive. If we order one, my living expenses for the week will be gone."

"Isn't it my treat today? Why are you worrying about it?"

Chen Jiaju's voice came from the stairwell, and then he walked over with his girlfriend Xiaomei by his side.

"Afan, have some! These two unlucky bastards' never seen anything good before!"

"I'm not very familiar with this either, so why don't you arrange it yourself, Ka-Kui?"

"Okay, I'll do it."

Chen Jiaju didn't refuse, took the menu and sat down, and the others followed suit.

Many of these people were his brothers who had gone through thick and thin with him in the Major Crimes Unit, but to Chen Fan’s surprise, it was the person sitting next to Ma Jun.
