Time Travel 04: I Fight the US in the Middle East

Chapter 21 The American Soldier Waiting for His Rabbit to Fall into the Trap

Jufula Village.

Most of the original houses in the village were demolished by the US military. The remaining houses were used as command posts and warehouses. Now they regret it. Even a broken mud house would have been more comfortable than a tent!

The sun was blazing down, and it was even hotter inside the tent than outside!

These rural areas already suffer from insufficient power supply, making it impossible to install air conditioning. The bomb crater created by the MK84 bomb is actually a good place to escape the summer heat!

If there are no tasks, they can hide in here to pass the daytime, but... there always has to be an unlucky guy doing the work!

Centered on the village, there were outposts in each of the four directions—east, west, south, and north—combined with one M1 tank and three M2 infantry fighting vehicles, monitoring everything along the way. They were waiting for the damned Juba guerrillas to come up and provoke them, so they could launch a quick attack and avenge their fallen comrades!

Under the scorching sun, the tank was as hot as an iron coffin!

"Damn this weather, let's try starting the engine!" said Commander Wilton.

Behind the vehicle, the gas turbine emitted a whistling sound. For American soldiers, there was no need to worry about fuel costs, and running the engine with the air conditioning on was routine operation!

The air conditioner was blowing hot, making it slightly better than before, but sweat was still pouring down my back!

Wilton glanced at the thermometer; the current temperature inside the tank was... 35 degrees Celsius!

When the Gulf War was fought in 91, it was January or February, and the weather wasn't too hot yet, so we could just bear it. But now... even though it's not even May yet, it's already unbearably hot.

The M1 tank back then didn't have air conditioning at all!

The M1 tank was developed during the Cold War, primarily for fighting against the Soviet Union, with the intended combat scenario in Europe!

Many European families don't install air conditioning, since it's only hot for a few days a year; they can just go on vacation and come back!

It wasn't until the M1A2 that an environmental control system was added because many electronic devices were installed. This wasn't for American soldiers; it was for cooling down the electronic devices to prevent them from overheating and crashing!

It's still hot!

I didn't notice it when I was driving, but now I'm just standing still...

"Reporting, Commander, I have a way to cool it down!" Inside the turret, the loader, Nelson, spoke up: "Please allow me to go back!"

"Half an hour at most!" Wilton said, glancing at his watch.

"yes!"

With him gone to cool things down, the car was a little cooler... but... what other methods could this guy possibly have?

Half an hour later, Nelson crawled back into the tank with several bottles of sodium chloride solution and looked at his companions: "Come on, let's each hang one on, it'll definitely cool us down!"

As he spoke, he tore open the packaging of the IV set.

Everyone was stunned: "Nelson, what are you doing...?"

"Iced sodium chloride, injected into the bloodstream, makes you feel cool all over!"

The camp has freezers that provide chilled drinks and ice cream, limited to three times per person per day—just enough to cool you down for three minutes! And now, this Nelson has actually chilled the sodium chloride meant for intravenous infusions and then injected it into my body!

This is absolutely... a brilliant idea!

As he spoke, Nelson had already found his vein and plunged the needle in!

Ordinary soldiers are not trained in intravenous injection, but... these tall, burly guys all have bulging veins, so finding a vein is easy!

As the cold sodium chloride flowed into his body through his veins, Nelson shuddered: "Very good!"

Even the words he spoke carried a chill!

The others no longer hesitated.

"Here, give me a bottle!" Train conductor Wilton stretched out his arm.

Soon, all four of them were hung up in ice-cold sodium chloride, and their whole bodies felt as if they had been circulated by coolant, chilled from head to toe!

Awesome, that's so awesome!

"With this bottle of chilled sodium chloride, we can get through the night," Wilton said. "Our shift starts at seven, and this long night... it's a shame we're not allowed to go out and have fun!"

Ever since those unlucky guys were killed while trying to have fun last time, the US military has been strict with discipline, and these hot-blooded guys are really itching to get back at it!

Nelson smiled faintly, revealing his bright white teeth: "That's easy, folks. I have an idea. The higher-ups don't allow us to find women, but... they haven't stopped us from finding men!"

"Won't it be... unclean...?"

"Why not just throw it into the Drigris River to wash it? Tell me, are you going or not?"

"go!"

The sun slowly set, and the earth finally stopped being so hot!

After the tank crews in the M1 tank finished eating their MRE individual rations, and waited for the watch hands to point to seven o'clock, Wilson was the first to push open the hatch and get out.

"Time's up, let's switch shifts!"

The shift changer hasn't arrived yet, what does it have to do with me? The daytime was already tough enough, why isn't the shift changer coming over soon!

"Wilson, what are you doing?" shouted Umar, the platoon leader on the M2 infantry fighting vehicle next to him.

"Let's go get some exercise!"

Being inside a tank all day is already uncomfortable, so it's normal to want to get out and move around. Besides, the tank unit was there to support the Second Battalion, and after completing their combat readiness duty, they didn't need to follow the Second Battalion's orders at all.

"The battalion commander said it's not safe lately; Juba the Grim Reaper could appear at any moment..."

"If he really comes, then let's take him down!" Wilson said, brandishing his M1911 pistol.

Although US tank crews primarily operate from their tanks, to accommodate the possibility of tank malfunctions and to meet their need for dismounted combat, each crew member is equipped with four M4 carbines and a pistol for self-defense, making them heavily armed.

What kind of Grim Reaper Juba is he? He just throws around some bombs and launches sneak attacks... Now that one of our battalions is stationed in Jufra village, those damned guys will definitely run as far away as possible. Only an idiot would come and sneak attack the American forces again; that would be suicide!

They are not afraid at all!

Thinking back to their time stationed in the island nation, they lived the life of the elite, taking whatever they wanted. Now, they should be the high and mighty rulers here, and these locals should be their slaves...

Unfortunately, there were no other means of transportation, so we had to walk out. This would probably be more discreet; it was dark, and the locals wouldn't suspect anything. Once we got closer... I didn't care if they were men or women, I dragged them to the date palm tree by the roadside...

The four of them walked forward like this, for ten minutes, half an hour, an hour...

Finally, a minibus appeared ahead, and several people were getting off, seemingly busy with something.

The four people exchanged a glance, all revealing expressions of excitement, their primal desires erupting, regardless of whether they were men or women...

They quickened their pace and walked over!

The moonlight was serene, and from afar, one could see that the other person was carrying boxes...

Whoosh!

The box suddenly opened for some reason, and two cylinders rolled out from inside—those were…

Cannonballs!
