Warhammer: Primarch's Life from the Beginning
Chapter 28 Gene Seeds
Grey Knight?
Of course he had seen them; those silver-armored Astartes had left a deep impression on him during the great battle against the demon Khorne outside the palace.
In Leo's memory, they were special psionicists who hunted demons and fought against chaos, directly under the Holy Hammer Order's Inquisition, and their very existence was a secret.
During the later stages of the Horus Rebellion, the Emperor foresaw a dark future ten thousand years in the future and thus planned to create this special force. He instructed his most trusted vizier, Macardo, to carry out this top-secret mission.
Macardo enveloped Saturn's sixth moon, Titan, in his psionic energy and accelerated time on that planet, creating an elite warband of several thousand men. These men were later incorporated into the Space Marine ranks during the Second Founding of the Army, designated 666.
But the origin of this mysterious force has always been a mystery.
Some say their gene-seeds came from the original eight Grey Knight Grand Masters, who came from different legions and selected psionic candidates from the Black Ships of Starforge, using their gene-seeds mixed with the Emperor's own genome to create recruits.
However, some argue that the original eight Grey Knights were not the Father of Genetics at all; they were merely the first to undergo modification and were used as mentors to train new recruits. The true seed originated from the Emperor's own genome and is known within the Grey Knights as the "Emperor's Gift."
In any case, they will definitely use the Emperor's genes, which makes them extremely stable, with no betrayal, no mutation, and pure souls for ten thousand years.
Leo looked up at Ers.
"They impressed me deeply in the previous battles."
Ers tapped the edge of the table lightly with his fingers.
"The Grey Knights have always been an Imperial secret, and their manufacturing process is known only to a select few."
"Is it related to the God Emperor?"
The smile on Ers's face vanished; he hadn't expected Leo to suddenly say something like that.
How did you come to know that?
He thought of the legend of the Primarch standing before him.
"Could it be related to your origins?" Ers spoke slowly, his voice even lower than before. "Your connection with the God-Emperor allowed you to sense the origins of the Grey Knights?"
We can't bring everything into the realm of prophecy.
"This is my secret."
Ers nodded and didn't ask any more questions; he felt it was time.
"Then I'll get straight to the point." He leaned forward slightly. "I do have a request that I'm afraid to ask, and I hope you can understand."
Leo shrugged, indicating that he would say whatever he wanted.
"For millennia, the Grey Knights have been using the Emperor's genome to create gene seeds to maintain their manpower," Ers said slowly, looking at Leo. "But like the Space Marines of other chapters, their genetic lineage has been diluted and deteriorated over time."
Leo understood immediately. He pointed to himself.
"You mean, you want mine...?"
Ers nodded.
"That's right, Your Highness. The Inquisition has been holding meetings these past few days, and there has been a lot of debate. In the end, everyone agrees that you are likely to be the savior of the Grey Knights. After all, you are a Primarch yourself, and even among your brothers, you are the most special one."
Leo remained silent for a while before speaking.
"I am not Him after all." Leo raised his face, his expression serious. "If the Grey Knight accepts my gene seed, he may not necessarily remain the same."
Ers let out a soft breath.
"This is also the focus of our argument, so my humble request is that you provide us with a gene sample. We need time to verify whether it can allow the Grey Knights to maintain their original chaos resistance."
I feel like I'm a product on clearance sale at a supermarket.
"I don't object," he nodded, "but what do the Grey Knights think? Will they psychologically reject it?"
"You gained their approval when you defeated the demons," Ers replied calmly. "And whether they liked it or not, they had no choice in the face of a life-or-death crisis."
Leo wasn't one to be pretentious. He raised his hand, took off his helmet, and put it aside, revealing his neck and the same face as the Emperor.
Ers snapped his fingers, and the air in the corner of the library distorted slightly, like ripples on the surface of water, and a figure appeared out of thin air.
……
"Do people in your courtroom like to make their entrances like this?"
The agent bowed respectfully, holding his equipment in his hands.
"I apologize for the inconvenience, Your Highness."
He approached quickly and steadily, extracting a blood sample from Leo's neck, which was tilted to one side, and then used a knife to cut off a small piece of tissue from the edge of the skin and flesh.
When the agent stepped back, the wound was visibly closing and the bleeding had stopped. Leo raised his hand to touch his neck, his fingertips only feeling a little dampness.
"Is that all?" He looked at Ers. "I thought you were going to pull a gene seed out of my neck or something."
Ers smiled and shook his head.
"You are the Primarch, not one of those Astartes."
Leo chuckled, then quickly steered the conversation back to the main point.
"If the Grey Knights can truly continue through my bloodline, what if this force stops obeying your commands?"
Without even a second's hesitation, Ers immediately chimed in.
"If your gene seed can truly allow the Grey Knights to retain their original characteristics, then not only them, but the entire Holy Hammer Order will obey you."
Leo curled his lip in disapproval. "It sounds like empty promises."
"To be honest," Ers said, spreading his hands, "I've had this idea ever since you returned to the Empire."
"And I don't know what you said to Catherine, but after the meeting, she offered to help you with your work. What do you think? Do you agree to her request?"
To be honest, Leo didn't have a good impression of the Inquisition, but these people's authority happened to cover every corner of the empire.
"She's quite capable," Leo thought for a moment. "I might need the court in the future, so let her be our liaison."
And so it was settled.
.
.
After the court representatives left, the library fell silent again. Leo leaned against the table, casually tossing a piece of cheese into his mouth, chewing absentmindedly.
The Grey Knights, their psionic abilities are all that strong.
What about him?
He's the Primarch, after all. He should be much stronger than them, right?
With this thought in mind, Leo leaned back in his chair, looked up at the dome covered with beams high above, and gestured with his hand in the air.
A faint creaking sound came from the edge of the table, frost began to form on the surface of the wine in the glass, a layer of white marks spread along the edge of the table, and a spider web shrank into a ball.
Leo squinted.
The next moment, a luminous fluid appeared out of nowhere and floated in mid-air. It spread, contracted, stretched into a long strip, and then compressed into a ball, just like a child playing with clay.
He played with it for a while, then finally got bored. He loosened his grip, and the glowing light gently dispersed and disappeared, creating a gust of wind that made the pages next to him flutter.
I'll have to look into this when I have time.
Leo muttered something to himself, then sat up straight as if he had suddenly remembered something and looked around.
The library remained as lifeless as ever, with only the bookshelves and scrolls in the distance sitting quietly under the lights.
Leo's expression slowly crumbled.
"Damn it, that administrator still hasn't come back..."
