I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!

Chapter 21: The Little Balrog's Paradise

Dark Hemkas, Throne Room.

A flash of white light appeared.

Arthas appeared before the throne. Dracula was standing by the long table organizing documents. He looked up and immediately saw the little fire demon carrying a wicker basket and the tailed fire hound.

"Your Excellency Demon Lord," Dracula adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, his expression completely unchanged, "this is the third-floor boss you personally recruited?"

"Um."

"It looks... a bit smaller than I expected."

"Good things come in small packages." Arthas walked to the throne and sat down without changing his expression, saying, "You know that Balrogs are rare talents, and they can enhance the style of the dungeon."

The little Balrog stood in the center of the throne room, tilting its head back and looking around, its jeweled eyes wide open.

The Gothic reliefs on the dome, the black dragon-patterned wall carvings, and the obsidian floor tiles—everything here is far superior to the cave beneath the withered trees.

Its flames involuntarily shot up a little higher.

"This place... is so big."

"The third floor is even bigger. Dracula, take it to see the work environment first; I think the decor will definitely need to be changed."

"Yes, Your Majesty the Demon King." Dracula bowed slightly, walked up to the little Balrog, and looked down at his new colleague who only reached his waist.

"plz follow me."

The little Balrog hugged the vine basket tightly and trotted after it; the Firehound faithfully followed at the little Balrog's feet.

Arthas leaned back on his throne and closed his eyes.

Less than half an hour later, Dracula returned.

His expression remained calm, but his eyes held a strange, inexplicable emotion.

"How is it?" Arthas opened his eyes and looked at Dracula below the throne.

"Your Majesty, it really likes the environment on the third floor, especially the lava pool." Dracula paused. "It swam around the lava pool three times, and then asked me if I could build a slide next to it."

"...A slide?"

"The kind where you slide down into a lava pool from a high place. It said that when it was in the Deadwood Forest, it always wanted to build one, but the cave was too small and there were no conditions."

"Anything else?"

"It wants to partition off a small room next to the BOSS room to store its collection." Dracula glanced at the notes in his hand. "Currently, there are a few glowing stones and a few feathers from some kind of bird..."

"That's all?"

"Also, it asked if the third floor could have its own name, like 'Flame Paradise'."

"..."

"I said the name couldn't be changed, so it would be called the Third Floor. Then they asked if we could put up a sign at the entrance of the floor that read, 'Welcome to Flame Paradise'."

Arthas rubbed his temples.

"Okay, let them hang up the sign. As long as it's not too troublesome, they can modify the third floor however they want. I also think the theme of an amusement park is good, we can give it a try."

"Understood." Dracula made a note in his notebook, then closed it. "There's another small matter that might require your approval."

"explain."

"The Firehound took a bath by the lava pool." Dracula's expression subtly changed. "But it wasn't happy with the water temperature and wanted to dig a cooler pool."

"You decide what to do."

"I think digging a small puddle in the BOSS room should solve this problem."

Looking at Dracula's perpetually calm face, Arthas suddenly realized that this vampire count was more open to new things than he had imagined.

"……well done."

Do you have any other instructions?

"Clean up the staff dormitory that was vacated after the Lava Wyvern family left, and put it directly into the Balrog's room."

"It's all packed up."

"Very good." Arthas looked at the emotionless face, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Go and get back to work."

……

Dark Hemkas, third level.

As Alsace descended the spiral staircase, he was so astonished by the sight before him that he stopped on the last step.

In less than half a day, the entire third floor had been transformed into a state that he could hardly recognize.

The lava pool was still the same lava pool, churning with orange-red light, and waves of heat swept over you. A slide was being built on the edge of the pool, and goblin craftsmen were sweating profusely as they worked hard to finish the project.

The slide has a smooth, rounded curve, and the obsidian surface is polished to a mirror-like smoothness. It seems to be designed to spiral down from a height and end into the edge of the lava pool.

Next to the slide, a jumping platform has already been built.

"Demon King! Come see my slide!"

The little Balrog poked its head out of the lava pool, clutching a floating stone in its hand, and excitedly waved it at Arthas.

When will the slide be finished?

"Tomorrow? It should be tomorrow!" The little fire demon counted on its fingers and said, "The slide is tomorrow, the platform is already finished, but the rotating fire goblet will have to wait two more days. The craftsman said that the goblet needs to be engraved with patterns, which will take more time."

Arthas walked slowly along the newly paved stone path by the pool, with the little Balrog following at his feet, explaining as they went, like a little tour guide.

"This is the jumping platform! Three levels! The highest one is ten meters high!" The little fire demon pointed to the platform, its tone full of pride. "I've tried jumping over it, it's very safe! The feeling of adventurers falling into lava must be amazing!"

"Adventurers probably don't want to fall in there."

"Really? But the diving platform is so much fun..."

Alsa looked around.

Slides, jumping platforms, spinning cups, observation decks, glowing moss, flame patterns... This once menacing underground city is being transformed into an amusement park.

"My Lord Demon King," the little Balrog tugged at Arthas's sleeve and asked, "Do you think I've changed too much? Or should I change it back?"

"No, you've made some great changes." Arthas was very tolerant of new things, and he was also curious about how the adventurers would react to the new third floor.

"Then, can I add one more item?"

"What project?"

"A lava roller coaster!" The little fire demon's eyes shone like stars as he excitedly gestured, "It's like sitting in a mine cart, climbing to the highest point, and then rushing down quickly, spinning and plunging! It'll be so much fun!"

"How do you know all this?" Alsas was momentarily confused, wondering if he was a transmigrator or a little fire demon. He almost blurted out the classic English question.

"That's what my dad said."

"dad?"

"Yes! Dad used to tell me a lot of stories about the outside world. He said that roller coasters run on frames, they run very fast, and they even go upside down and in circles, and the people sitting on them scream."

"Dad also said that if he has the chance, he must take me on a roller coaster. But I've never been able to find one, so I thought I'd build one myself!"

"..." Arthas fell silent, his mind racing.

Did Little Balrog's father know about roller coasters?

People who know about roller coasters are either from Earth like him, or they know people who came from Earth...

"What else did your father say?"

"Dad has said a lot. He said there's a big, spinning cup that makes you dizzy when you sit inside, but it's a lot of fun. There's also a very tall tower where you can jump off and be held up by ropes so you won't fall to your death."

"Bungee jumping."

"Yes! That's it! Dad also said—"

"What is your father's name?"

"Dad is just Dad, right? One day he went to find new territory with Mom, and then he never came back..."

"Mother?!"

So, the Balrog is a gendered demon?

"Is there a problem? Of course I have a mother... otherwise, how could I have sprung from a rock?"

"That's not what I meant." Arthas rubbed his temples. He had always thought the Balrog valued their family because of their fission system. "I just didn't expect... never mind, it's not important. So, are you male or female?"

When Arthas asked the question, he himself felt it was somewhat absurd. Having traveled through so many years, he had never imagined that one day he would ask about the gender of the Balrog.

However, the little fire demon's appearance was too blurry. From its facial features to its body shape, all the characteristics that could distinguish its gender were covered by flames, making it impossible to tell.
