I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!
Chapter 33: Silver Level
Harold picked up a quill pen, wrote a few lines on the registration form, and then looked up at Arthas.
"What's your team's name?"
"...King Raine."
When Arthas uttered the name, his expression remained unchanged, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.
Harold paused for a second.
"Are you sure?"
"The captain named him."
Harold wrote "King Rein's Squad" on the paper.
"From this moment forward, your team is officially promoted to Silver rank." Harold took three Silver Badges from the drawer and pushed them over. "These are your new badges. Also, for this mission, although it wasn't an official mission issued by the guild, the guild will pay an extra fifty gold coins as an intelligence reward."
Arthas picked up a silver badge, turned it over and looked at it; there was no "top-tier" mark on the back.
How is the top-tier Silver rank assessed?
Harold paused for a moment, then burst out laughing.
"You're still eyeing the top-tier Silver rank?"
"You can take the test, but if other team members want to participate, they will have to take the Silver test again, and they will also need recommendations from three Gold-level or higher adventurers."
"So, I can take the test now?"
"Okay, go find Sean."
"Sean?"
"That old guy in the assessment area."
"...Then I'll go find it."
"Go." Harold looked at Arthas's expressionless face and suddenly found this young man more interesting than he had imagined. He waved his hand. "The guild will take care of the unconscious person you brought back. As for the caravan, you don't need to worry about it."
Arthas turned and walked to the door. Just as his hand touched the doorknob, Harold's voice came from behind him.
"Dick Reynolds."
"The matter of the Samigina Order is too complicated; never mention it to anyone."
"I know."
Arthas pushed open the door and went out.
……
in the hall.
Ryan was squatting on the ground, holding his head in his hands, muttering things like, "Oh no, oh no, oh no, Dick won't get arrested, will he?"
Oris stood to the side, watching Ryan's performance with a blank expression, seemingly unfazed by it all.
Upon seeing Arthas emerge from the room, Renn abruptly stood up and rushed over.
"How was it? They didn't give you any trouble, did they?"
"Silver grade." Arthas tossed the Silver Badge to Renn and said, "Special promotion."
Raine caught the badge, glanced down at it, then looked up at Arthas, then looked down at the badge again, his mouth opening and closing repeatedly before letting out a deafening roar.
"Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!"
The scream startled all the adventurers in the hall. Some spilled their wine on themselves, others dropped their knives and forks onto their plates with a clatter, and one adventurer who was accepting a quest accidentally drew a long ink mark on the contract.
"Silver! Silver! I'm Silver?!" Raine waved his badge, like a frolicking husky. "Sis! Look! Silver! Dick! Look! Silver!!"
"Give it to me." Olis snatched the badge, pinned it to her waist, and said expressionlessly, "Don't embarrass yourself."
She said that, but she took the badge very seriously and even adjusted the angle so that the silver badge would stand out on the lapel of her coat.
Ryan had already pinned the badge to the most conspicuous position on his chest, puffing out his chest, eager for the whole world to see that glittering little silver trinket.
Arthas looked around at the gazes, feeling somewhat uncomfortable, but that was due to his status. If he were truly an adventurer, he might be able to enjoy it.
"Come on, come on!" Renn grabbed Arthas's arm. "Before it gets dark, I'll take you somewhere!"
"Where to?"
"The Adventurers' Market!" Renn's eyes lit up like stars. "You've definitely never been there, have you? They have everything! Weapons, armor, potions, scrolls, monster materials—you name it, they have it!"
Arthas glanced at the sky outside the window; only the last vestiges of dark purple afterglow remained on the horizon, and the lights of Graystone Town began to illuminate one by one.
"Shall we go now?"
"Now's the time to go, that's when it's most exciting!" Raine had already rushed to the door, turning back to wave to the two. "The market's peak time is at night! Everyone's doing missions during the day, then coming back to set up stalls at night—that's when the best stuff appears!"
"Go ahead," Oris said, glancing at Arthas and nodding slightly. "You also need to get some new gear."
Arthas looked at his bare upper body; the red marks had faded considerably, and he definitely needed a shirt.
"Walk."
……
The Adventurers' Market is located in the western part of Graystone Town, and it is completely different from its quiet appearance during the day.
Arthas and his companions first passed through a narrow alley, and then the view suddenly opened up before them—
The wide stone-paved road was lined with all sorts of stalls, selling torches, magic lamps, glowing crystals, and luminous potion bottles...
Various light sources illuminated the entire street as bright as day.
The air was filled with a complex mix of smells: the smoky aroma of roasted meat, the bitterness of herbs, the fishy smell of leather, the metallic scent of iron, and the unique sweet and fishy smell of some indescribable monster blood.
The sounds of hawking, haggling, boasting about spoils, and drunken adventurers belting out songs all mingled together.
"How about it?" Ryan turned his back, spreading his arms proudly. "Pretty impressive, isn't it?"
Arthas looked around, his gaze sweeping over the dazzling array of stalls.
In front of the weapon stalls, all kinds of swords, knives, axes, and hammers were neatly arranged, their blades gleaming coldly under the magic lamps.
The stalls selling armor displayed leather armor, chainmail, and plate armor, ranging from worn-out to brand new, with prices ranging from a few silver coins to dozens of gold coins.
The most expensive items are potions. Even the cheapest basic healing potion costs five gold coins per bottle, while other potions like the Golden Potion easily start at a hundred gold coins.
"Don't miss out! A Flame Slime Core, just brought back from the third level of Dark Hemcas! Excellent material for crafting fire-attribute weapons!"
"Buying monster materials! Honest and fair dealing!"
"Advanced Healing Potions! One bottle is equivalent to three! Twenty gold coins! Buy ten get one free! Buy twenty get two free!"
Shouts and calls rose and fell.
Arthas was pulled inside by Renn, with Oris following behind, her eyes occasionally scanning the stalls on both sides, stopping to take a look now and then, but quickly catching up again.
"Let's buy some clothes first." Raine looked around, then spotted a stall selling armor. "Over there! Let's go!"
The stall wasn't big, but it was filled with all kinds of tops, leather armor, cloth clothes, chainmail, from light to heavy.
The stall owner was a burly middle-aged woman with arms thicker than Ryan's legs, sitting on a stool eating an apple.
"Boss," Renn pointed at Arthas and asked, "do you have any clothes that would suit him?"
The female vendor put down the apples and stared at Arthas's handsome face, her eyes widening. Then she looked him up and down, her gaze sweeping from his shoulders to his waistline, then back to his chest, pausing for two seconds.
Seeing this, Ryan scratched his head and said, "Why don't we go take a look over there? I don't think we brought enough money..."
"It's alright, there was a reward for the mission," Arthas said. "Let's stay here and look around first."
"Tsk." The female stall owner stood up, walked around to Arthas, and poked his pectoral muscles with her finger. "Young man, you're in good shape."
"..." Arthas stood there expressionlessly, neither retreating nor speaking.
"That muscle density, that definition..." The female stall owner pinched his deltoids, then patted his latissimus dorsi, making admiring clicks of her tongue. "It's a shame he's wearing ordinary leather armor. I have something really good here, something I wasn't planning on selling, but with your physique, I'll sell it to you!"
Ryan opened his mouth, but when he saw the female stall owner's arms, which were thicker than his own thighs, he closed his mouth again.
Oris turned her face away expressionlessly, pretending to look at the helmets at the stall next door.
The female vendor pulled out a dark red leather armor. The leather was thin and light, with a greasy sheen on the surface. Fine black scales were embedded in the chest and shoulders.
"A blend of fire dragon scales and shadow python skin, lightweight design, top-notch defense, and fire resistance." The female stall owner handed the leather armor to Arthas. "Try it."
Arthas took the leather armor. It felt lighter than he had expected. After putting it on, the leather armor fit his body like a second skin, and his shoulders and arms had no restrictions on their range of motion. In fact, he was even more flexible than when he wasn't wearing it.
The female stall owner circled around Arthas, her gaze lingering on his waistline and shoulder blades, and she couldn't resist reaching out to touch them again.
"This item will cost you twenty gold coins, that's the cost price."
Renn's eyes widened: "Twenty...twenty?"
"Twenty is too expensive?" The female stall owner glanced at Raine. "Go look for leather armor with fire dragon scales at other stalls. If it's less than thirty gold coins, I'll eat it on the spot."
"Not expensive, I'll buy it." Arthas took out twenty gold coins from his pouch and placed them on the stall.
"Great." The female stall owner pocketed the gold coins, then pulled a pair of black leather gloves from her drawer and stuffed them into Arthas's hands. "These gauntlets are for you; they match the leather armor."
Superficial humans.
However, in the human world, being good-looking does indeed bring many advantages, and Arthas had absolute confidence in his shapeshifting skills and aesthetic sense.
"Thanks."
Alsace put on gloves, clenched his fist; the leather was soft, and the joints had been treated so it wouldn't affect his movement.
Raine leaned closer and whispered, "I feel like there's something off about the way she's looking at you..."
"Because I'm handsome."
