I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!

Chapter 51: The Mirror Labyrinth

The corridor seemed to have no end.

Arthas walked in the middle of the procession, his gaze sweeping over the mirror frames on both sides. Each mirror contained a painting that had been carefully framed, with the frames fitting together perfectly as if they had grown together from the same source.

He hadn't explored the lower floors for a long time, leaving most of the work to Dracula. Now, the layout and decoration of the fourth floor seemed quite appealing.

The candlelight in the gilded wall lamp burned quietly, casting the shadows of the five people in all directions, which were repeatedly refracted in countless mirrors, creating endless reflections.

"Something's not right here."

Novalan suddenly stopped, his hand on the hilt of his sword, his silver-gray pupils sweeping across the row of mirrors on his left.

"What's wrong?"

Kate also stopped walking.

"shadow."

Novalan raised his chin.

Ryan followed Kate's gaze to the nearest full-length mirror. The frame was bronze, with vine patterns cast around the edges, and the mirror reflected the figures of five people.

Kate stood at the front, Novalan half a step behind, Arthas and Oris walked side by side, while he himself tilted his head and looked into the mirror.

everything is normal.

"No problem? It's just five people, right?"

"Count."

Ryan looked at it again: Kate, Novalen, Arthas, Oris, and himself.

"Five."

"Count it again."

Arthas had already noticed the problem; there was an extra shadow in the mirror, sometimes clear, sometimes blurry.

Renn frowned, pointing at the reflections in the mirror one by one.

"One, two, three, four, five—"

His fingers stopped.

In the mirror, there was another person behind Kate.

He was a tall, thin man wearing a colorful diamond-patterned outfit, with thick white paint on his face and exaggerated crescent-shaped smiles painted on his lips with red paint.

It stood directly behind Kate's reflection, with one hand on Kate's reflection's shoulder and the other hand stretched above its head, making a big "V" sign.

Ryan turned his head sharply.

There was no one behind Kate.

There were only five people in the corridor; there was no sixth.

Ryan turned back to look in the mirror. The tall, thin guy in the plaid shirt was still there, but this time he changed his posture, cupping his face in his hands and making a "I'm so scared" expression.

"What is that thing?!"

Raine drew his short sword, his palms sweaty.

Kate turned around, shield already raised to his chest. His gaze swept across the long corridor behind him, where only the candlelight in the gilded wall lamps burned quietly, and the mirrors on both sides reflected the images of five people, with only five people in each mirror.

"That damn thing is gone." Novalan's voice was calm, but his sword was already three inches out of its sheath.

Oris drew her bowstring taut, the arrow tip aimed at the depths of the corridor. Her gaze swept from one mirror to another, her pupils slightly contracting.

"It's not gone, it's in the mirror."

"This fourth floor has been changed too much. Before, there were just a few mimics. As long as you could get out of the maze, it was fine!" Kate kicked the mirror, but the mirror remained intact.

"Hehehehe!!!"

A sharp, shrill laugh came from somewhere.

All five people looked at the mirrors on either side at the same time.

In every mirror, that guy in the plaid shirt is there, and he's frantically trying to steal the spotlight.

In the mirror on the left, it was using its fingers to pry open the corners of Ryan's reflection's mouth, making an ugly face, and even winking and waving at Ryan outside the mirror.

In the mirror on the right, it subtly replaced Kate's shield with a pot lid, then covered its mouth and laughed so hard it was doubled over, its shoulders shaking.

What's even more outrageous is that in the mirror opposite Oris, it's perched on the arrowhead, resting its chin on its hands, looking at her with an expression that says, "Sister, you're so cool, I admire you so much."

With a blank expression, Oris pointed the arrow at its face again, and it immediately made an exaggerated backward leaning motion, as if to say, "Ah! I've been hit by an arrow!" It even stuck out its tongue in cooperation.

"What the hell is this thing?" Renn's voice trembled slightly, but his grip on his short sword remained steady. "Is it playing tricks on us?"

"Carter the Joker".

Alsace opened his mouth.

All four of them turned their gazes to him at the same time.

Arthas's expression remained unchanged, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly. He had approved the release of this thing, but seeing its true nature made him somewhat regretful.

"The Mirror Demon is skilled in illusion and trickery. It has little offensive power, but it can trap people in mazes and drive them to mental breakdown."

How did you know?

Kate frowned.

"It's recorded in the Adventurers' Guild's library," Arthas said without changing his expression. "Carter the Clown is a type of phantom monster, usually appearing in partnership with Joker."

The voice just fell.

A crisp sound came from the end of the corridor.

slam-la-

That was the sound of shuffling cards, pouring out from every mirror, falling from the dome overhead, and seeping out from the cracks in the stone slabs beneath your feet, as if a hundred casino dealers were simultaneously performing fancy card-cutting tricks.

Then, a playing card floated down from the sky.

It floats lightly, like a fallen leaf.

Kate instinctively reached out and caught it.

The front of the card depicts a skull wearing a top hat, the brim pulled low to reveal only its neat teeth, and the skull holding a card fan in its hand.

The back of the playing card has a line of gold lettering printed on it:

Welcome to the fourth level, the Mirror Maze.

[Tour Guide: Joker Carter and Joker]

[Friendly Reminder: This floor offers an immersive maze experience. Please do not believe anything you see in the mirrors, and please do not accept any invitations to card games.]

Have a great time!

Kate flipped the card over, and words appeared on the back.

"Sir, your shoelaces are untied."

Kate instinctively looked down, but his boots had no laces at all.

"..."

The small print on the playing cards changed rapidly:

[Just kidding, hahaha!]

"These two bastards!!" Kate crumpled the cards into a ball and slammed them to the ground.

The moment the paper ball hit the ground, it exploded into a small cloud of colorful smoke. After the smoke dissipated, a paper rose appeared on the ground, with dewdrops still clinging to its petals.

Kate: "..."

Oris silently put away her bow and arrows. She felt that if she took this kind of thing seriously, she had already lost.

Novalan's sword was still three inches from its sheath. His silver-grey eyes were fixed on the paper rose. He remained silent for two seconds, then said something that surprised everyone.

"Well done."

The paper rose immediately bounced up, automatically unpacked and folded in mid-air, turning into a paper crane. It flew around Novalan three times before landing on his shoulder and affectionately nuzzling his earlobe.

Novalan took the paper crane off his shoulder.

The paper crane turned into a paper star in the palm of my hand.

He put the paper stars into his pocket.

"Haha, that's really funny." Ryan made a face at the Carter Joker in the mirror.

"You took it?!" Kate stared at Novalan in disbelief. "That might be something from a monster!"

"A well-folded fold is a well-folded fold," Novalan said calmly. "Those are two different things."

Kate rubbed his temples. When he led this team on the road, he never expected that the biggest enemy would not be monsters, but the mental state of his own people.
