I am the Demon King of the Dungeon!

Chapter 84: The Rumors Spreading in the North

Overnight, the landscape of the North was completely transformed.

Raine witnessed the massive fire meteor hurtling straight into the troll tribe's camp, and he's still reeling from the shock, occasionally gagging.

Oris was so shocked that she couldn't sleep, because looking down from the tower, there wasn't even a trace of the thousands of trolls left.

The snowstorm stopped for half a day, but a blizzard started again in the early morning.

As snowflakes fell on the walls of Cold Iron Fortress, the torches of the garrison were no longer extinguished, and the sentries continued to patrol behind the crenellations, but their pace was no longer the tense, almost breaking rapid one before; instead, it slowed down.

Sunlight streamed down.

The Grasha's army camp outside the city is breaking up its camp.

After losing the trolls, Baldr chose to temporarily retreat and regroup because he didn't know who Arthas really was, and this matter was like a thorn in his heart.

Who could be capable of wiping out two troll tribes in a single night...?

Looking out from the window of the North Tower, one by one the campfires south of Qingyuan Ice Lake went out, the orderly military formations turned into scattered retreating columns, and the supply wagons left deep ruts in the snow that stretched to the horizon.

No one pursued them. The Kingdom of Qatar did not choose to take advantage of their misfortune. Every soldier retreated faster than he had come, as if fleeing something unseen.

The news spread throughout the continent of Ashu, and within half a day, all the bards had gone mad.

In taverns, guild halls, inn lobbies, and by the fountains in plazas—anywhere people could gather—there were always people talking about the same thing.

There are so many versions that they could be compiled into a collection of legends. Each version is so outrageous that it seems like it was made up while drunk, but each version has eyewitnesses who swear on their lives.

The Adventurers' Guild bulletin board in Holy Radiance City was plastered with war reports from the North, including official military announcements, narrative poems transcribed by bards in cursive script, and several crudely drawn but extremely vivid illustrations.

The most eye-catching one is a sketch of the ruins of a withered pine forest. The artist obviously had not seen the meteorite crater in person, but drew a huge circle based on rumors, with the note "suspected meteorite impact site" next to it.

"That's not a meteorite at all." A mercenary who had just returned from the North sat on a bench next to the notice board, surrounded by a dense crowd of listeners.

He picked up his glass, took a large gulp, wiped his mouth with his sleeve, and said in a low voice, "I saw it with my own eyes. That fireball was at least as big as the city gate. It hit the ground and wiped out the entire withered pine forest. The troll alliance didn't even have time to react; they were just gone. Thousands of trolls, bang!"

The audience gasped in shock.

A young mage in the corner adjusted his glasses, attempting to analyze the situation from a theoretical magical perspective: "Could it be a meteor spell? That's a forbidden fire spell..."

"It definitely wasn't a meteor spell." The mercenary interrupted the young mage, his expression extremely serious. "Meteor spells are red when they hit, but the fireball that night was turquoise, turquoise. Have you ever seen a turquoise meteor spell?"

The monk opened his mouth, but couldn't say anything.

"Some say it's super-tier magic." Another voice chimed in, belonging to an adventurer who had just arrived from Graystone Town. He spread the Adventurer's Weekly on the table, the front page featuring a bold headline: "Azure Flames Fall from the Northern Sky, Suspected to be the Wrath of a Dungeon Demon King..."

Below is a blurry, magical snapshot, capturing the moment a vibrant green halo explodes in the night sky.

"The weekly report clearly states that the emerald green flames are identified as the transcendental magic 'Azure Blood Meteorite,' a magic possessed only by demons. Not a single human on the entire continent of Ashu can wield fire of that color."

The news traveled from the southern part of Greystone Town all the way to the northern part, and into the outlying merchant camps on the outskirts of Dark Hemkas.

Vendors who specialize in selling fire resistance potions and souvenirs to adventurers have keenly sensed a business opportunity and rushed to produce a new batch of goods overnight—amulet engraved with the words "Azure Fire," which is said to be made from the scorched earth of the ruins of the withered pine forest. Each amulet sold for two gold coins and was snapped up by morning.

Even more outrageous rumors followed.

A legend circulated within the Kingdom of Grasha that night, some people saw the shadows of more than a dozen giant dragons in the sky. These were not ordinary flying dragons, but true high-ranking dragons, each as large as a small mountain, hovering in a fan shape above the legion's camp.

The tent of Legion Commander Baldr was split open by a white light, and a black-haired human youth walked in alone, forcing back tens of thousands of troops with a few words.

However, the authorities have remained silent on this matter.

After withdrawing to the border, Baldr said only one sentence at a military meeting: "This matter needs to be considered carefully."

No matter how much you ask, he won't say anything more.

Holy City.

Several lucrative investigation commissions have appeared on the Adventurers' Guild's quest board, all from spies sent by various countries who want to find out what exactly happened in the North.

This incident even alarmed the Adventurers' Guild, which dispatched a team of dozens of people to the Deadwood Forest, hoping to find clues to determine the seriousness of the matter.

Because of the ability to do such a thing, any country or city could be wiped out in an instant.

Arthas was unaware of all this; he was still in his dungeon, contemplating how to stage a successful "first kill."

Because if he could defeat Dark Hemkas, the adventurer Dick Reynolds would become famous throughout the world.

Perhaps, he can end a century of boredom.

There are many legends about the North, but the most talked about is the unofficial version of "Green Fire Ghost".

"Green Phantom?" Rein, who was lying on the table in the war room, looked up and blinked when he heard Oris read out the headline of the weekly report. "Who came up with this name? It's so cringeworthy."

"It is said that the bards even composed songs about it."

"How do you sing it?"

Oris cleared her throat and recited in a completely emotionless tone: "Azure flames descend from the sky, trolls turn to ashes. One man repels ten thousand armies, the Green Flame King of the North."

"It sounds awful."

Olivia glared.

Ryan quickly corrected himself, saying, "I didn't mean your singing was bad, it's the lyrics that were bad, but then again..."

"Was it really one person who forced Grasha back and wiped out two troll tribes in the process? Although I saw the fireball with my own eyes, it feels very unreal. That person's strength must be at least legendary, right? Why would they help us?"

"Not at least." Oris stood up from the end of the long table. "To be able to wipe out more than 2,700 trolls in one night is also a threat to us..."

"Could it be related to the Sunwell?" Renn speculated. "Could it be that the legendary demon king from the dungeon escaped and killed the trolls?"

Oris put the file folder back on the shelf, sat back down at the end of the long table, placed her hands on her knees, and remained silent for a moment before speaking: "There is currently no evidence to suggest that the two are related, and besides, we cannot go up to verify it."

With lingering fear, Raine said, "At least for now, the fighting is on hold. Let's wait for my brothers to return..."

"If he could have come sooner, Father would have..."

"People still have to rely on themselves," Oris said seriously. "This time we were lucky. Grasha might come back again. They're after the mines."

"But the ore production is decreasing, and my father doesn't want others to know about this problem, so we have no choice but to hire more adventurers to go to the dungeons to mine..."
