Chapter 6 Night Assassination
Chapter 6 Night Assassination
The night grew darker.
Amy's soft snoring gradually subsided.
The herb garden was deathly silent.
crunch~
The sound of the wooden door being pushed open, not loud at all, was fleeting and did not break the tranquility of the night.
"Who?" Ilan's groggy voice rang out.
"it's me."
"Uh, Gaode? What are you doing here?" Yilan wasn't fully awake yet; her mind was still foggy.
"Ilan, I figured you'd be fast asleep by now, so I came to find you."
"What do you mean?" Yilan was about to get up, but in the darkness, by the moonlight, he could see a hazy figure that had moved to his bedside during the brief pause in their conversation.
A dark figure was reflected on the wall, holding a sharp knife in its hand, which was about to stab him as the figure's hand fell.
what! !
Elan was so frightened that his heart skipped a beat, all his drowsiness vanished, and he instantly became wide awake. Goosebumps rose on his skin, and he instinctively raised his right hand, trying to block any possible attack.
It's too late.
With a soft "poof".
A piercing pain shot through his chest.
Something sharp and cold pierced his chest.
It was a dinner knife, the kind used in restaurants to cut rye bread. It wasn't very sharp, but it was just about enough as a deadly weapon.
Gao De pressed his knee against Yi Lan's throat, while using his left hand to firmly hold down Yi Lan's body, and his right hand to hold the dinner knife very steadily.
puff!puff!puff!
He pulled out the knife and stabbed again, then again, then again.
The crimson blood flowed all over his hand, appearing warm in the cold night, but it did not bring Gao De any warmth.
He just felt nauseous.
God stopped when Ilan's body went completely limp and showed no signs of struggling.
He was panting heavily.
"So, this is what murder is..."
Everything proceeded as planned by Gaode, and even more smoothly.
Still not fully awake from her deep sleep, Yilan had no idea that Gaode would dare to kill her. Faced with Gaode's night attack, Yilan was completely powerless to resist.
Everything was much simpler than I had imagined.
However, the discomfort of killing for the first time does not disappear just because it was planned in advance.
"It's easy to mess with the King of Hell, but hard to deal with his underlings. Even if Ilan can't kill me directly like Master Seda, he still holds a grudge against me. Who knows what kind of underhanded tricks he'll use to disgust me?"
"Besides, his constant staring at me makes it difficult for me to act later. I can't have peace of mind until he's dead!"
"Besides, I've already died once because of Ilan's scheme to test the drug. This is a blood feud, and it's only right that blood must be repaid."
"He forced me to do it."
Gao De's hands were still trembling, and he kept finding reasons to force himself to calm down and adapt.
We must adapt.
Gao De understood that, given his situation, if he didn't want to die, others would have to.
clang!
Suddenly, Gao De's pupils dilated sharply, as if he had seen something terrifying. He was so startled that he dropped the knife in his hand, which made a crisp sound as it hit the floor.
After the murder, Gao De's hands were trembling, but not to the point that he couldn't even hold a kitchen knife properly.
The reason he did this was simply because he was startled.
Just now, Gao De clearly sensed that the crescent-shaped gem in his mind, whose use he had never understood, was suddenly activated and began to shimmer with spiritual light.
Immediately afterwards, several lines of information, commonly seen in games and novels, appeared before his eyes:
origin:
0 Rings - [Human] (1/7)
Spells:
0-ring stats – [Mage's Hand], [Repair]
The interface is very simple, even rudimentary, with only two information tabs: spells and origin.
The spells section displays exactly the two tricks that Gaode currently possesses.
And behind the two spells, a small yellow plus sign was flashing.
This incredibly familiar design is something anyone who has ever played the game will understand.
"Add points".
Gaode tentatively used his mind to tap the yellow plus sign after the repair spell.
The next moment, some information, as if implanted in his memory, inexplicably surfaced in Gaode's mind.
"Insufficient fundamentals."
Obviously, adding points requires consuming source energy.
Gaode Maps naturally focused its attention on the "Origin" section of the interface.
Humans (1/7).
The message was brief and without any further explanation, but Gaode immediately understood.
His gaze fell on Ilan's corpse on the bed.
"Do I need to kill seven humans to obtain a bit of the essence?" Gao De muttered to himself.
It was still dark.
Master Seda was awakened by the inexplicable noise in the herb garden.
People his age usually have very light sleep.
And he has always had a terrible temper.
He pushed open the door with dissatisfaction, took a few steps, and then grabbed a passing apprentice.
"What did you say?!"
When he heard the apprentice's trembling words, Master Seda was also taken aback.
After passing through the narrow corridor, Master Seda arrived at the apprentice living area, which he rarely visited.
"Master Mage," an apprentice saw him and said timidly with a panicked expression, "Ilan... he's dead."
"What's going on?" Although Master Seda's voice remained steady, the coldness within it was unmistakable.
"I just arrived here too," the apprentice stammered, unable to answer.
Master Seda lost his patience, his face cold as he strode forward, passing through the narrow corridor, finally stopping in front of Ilan's door and looking inside.
There lay Ilan's not-so-tall body sprawled on the wooden bed against the wall, his chest covered in blood, his eyes wide open and white.
It was clearly dead.
The manner of his death was quite simple; he was stabbed to death.
The weapon was likely a blade similar to a dagger.
Master Seda frowned, suppressing his anger, and turned his gaze to another corner of the room.
There sat a boy, and on the ground beside him lay a bloodstained kitchen knife.
His hands were covered in scarlet blood.
Master Seda didn't usually pay much attention to his apprentices, but his memory was quite good.
There are no monks with bad memories.
He remembered this boy; he was the only apprentice to survive the drug trials over the years.
"You did this?" asked the monk Seda, his voice filled with displeasure and coldness.
"Yes," Gao De replied, his face still pale, but his eyes were very calm.
"What's going on?" Master Seda asked again.
"I first stole the bread-cutting knife while I was dining at the restaurant."
Gao De pointed to the blood-stained knife on the ground.
"It's not very sharp, but it's good enough."
"Then, I waited until late at night, and when I figured he was fast asleep, I crept over quietly," Gao De explained. "He was older and stronger than me, and if I didn't find a good opportunity, I might not have been able to kill him."
"In the end, he died, at my hands."
Thanks to my good brother Weimingchenguang for being the leader!
The boss is so confused!
