America: Child stars start with The Shining

Chapter 76: Why is it a child?

Los Angeles, USA.

Angus Young stood in front of a towering office building, looking somewhat apprehensive.

He held a CD in his hand, and that was all he had; he looked quite shabby.

Last night, to save money, he made do with a stay at a remote youth hostel.

However, for rock youths like them, this kind of thing is actually quite common.

Angus Young was one of the founders of the band AC/DC.

If it weren't for his persistent efforts, the band would probably have disbanded long ago.

After all, looking at the entire rock scene, there are very few bands that have been able to stumble and persevere to this day after several major changes.

Angus has been the lead guitarist since the band's inception.

However, AC/DC's lineup has never really stabilized over the past few years.

This is also a major headache for him.

The drummer and bassist kept changing, and even more tragically, the previous lead singer suddenly passed away due to the absurd cause of alcohol poisoning...

This was almost a devastating blow to the entire band.

Not only were they forced to terminate their contract with their previous record company, Atlantic Records, but their tour, which was already halfway through, also had to be abruptly halted.

This is a huge loss; the amount of liquidated damages alone is unknown.

To make matters worse, the band now has very little money left in its accounts.

Ultimately, they are, after all, a rock band.

The daily expenses are already high, and the money earned from the tour is often quickly invested in the next round of performances, equipment maintenance, rehearsals, recording, and all sorts of other miscellaneous matters.

In addition, their past financial management was not good to begin with; money came quickly and went quickly.

This is why, although AC/DC has never completely collapsed over the years, it has never achieved great success.

Their previous albums did indeed build up a fan base, but they were still far from achieving true superstardom.

Moreover, they have finally found a new lead singer, but the entire band is still in a difficult period of adjustment.

The demo for the new album has been recorded.

But the effect is...

Angus himself wasn't entirely satisfied.

The quality of this album is not good enough.

At the very least, it cannot help them continue to survive.

What they need now is an album that can help AC/DC break into a more mainstream market.

The problem is that they are not only struggling with the quality of the album, but also with the funding for promotion.

Without the support of Atlantic Records, their space for survival became even narrower, as an independent rock band that had just experienced a huge change.

Rock music sounds very free and cool.

But reality is very cruel.

Even if they want to stick to their musical dreams, what's the point of persisting if they can't even afford to eat?

Without the resources of a record company, so-called freedom will soon become just another way of saying poverty.

But thankfully, just when they were in despair, good news came!

Finally, not long ago, a record company from the United States contacted them.

Although Angus Young did not know the company, the timing of their appearance was too coincidental.

It was like saving them from dire straits!

Otherwise, without external funding, they really need to consider dissolving.

Therefore, upon receiving the news, AC/DC did not hesitate for long and immediately decided to send Angus Young to Los Angeles to represent the band and negotiate with the other party.

As for why not everyone came together, the reason is quite simple...

They had barely managed to raise enough money to produce a demo for their new album, and they simply didn't have any extra funds.

Even the airfare for Angus Young's trip to Los Angeles was scraped together by several people.

Thinking of this, Angus couldn't help but laugh at himself.

this is the truth.

Without money, all the spirit of rock and roll is meaningless.

He shook his head and walked into the office building.

Success or failure hinges on this moment.

Angus Young now only hopes that the record company will be reliable and not one of those small studios that specialize in deceiving indie rock bands like them.

This is exactly what he's worried about.

Especially...

Angus quickly took the elevator to the designated floor.

The elevator doors slowly opened, and he stepped out, glancing up at the sign hanging next to the glass door.

"Hua Mei Records".

Angus Young frowned slightly.

Although he was far away in Australia, he had heard of names like Columbia Records and Motown Records.

but......

He had never heard of Huamei Records before.

Therefore, he felt very uneasy before he even arrived.

The main reason for this is that AC/DC can't afford to drag things out any longer.

If they get scammed again, they'll be completely finished!

At that point, Angus Young will probably have no choice but to return to Australia to work.

As for the rock and roll dream, the world stage, and making everyone remember the name AC/DC...

That would all become a complete joke.

He took a deep breath, then pushed open the glass door and went inside.

Unlike the chaotic little company Angus Young had imagined, everything here, though not luxurious, was very clean and tidy.

There were no messy posters on the walls, nor were there flyers and record samples piled up on the floor.

It was very clean and also seemed very spacious.

Clearly, this company was recently established.

Angus Young's heart sank even further.

There was only one very pretty white girl standing at the front desk. She looked a little young, but she was wearing a professional outfit that accentuated her figure.

Although Angus Young was a man of wide experience, he did not recall ever seeing such a beautiful girl before.

Especially in the front desk position...

"Hello, I'm here to see Mr. Charles. He contacted me before..."

"Oh, okay, just a moment, I'll take you there right away. He's already waiting for you in the conference room."

After hearing his words, the girl quickly turned and left the front desk, leading Angus Young to the door of a conference room.

She knocked gently on the door.

A young voice soon came from inside.

"Please come in."

The door was pushed open, and Angus went inside.

The meeting room wasn't large, but it was well-lit.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the streetscape of Los Angeles is brightly lit by sunlight.

Then he saw Charles, and he was visibly stunned.

Wait a minute, why the hell is it a kid?!
