"Bang bang bang".

Two hours before noon, there was a knock on Viktor's door.

Victor had just finished brewing the potion and came out of the storage room when he heard the noise, so he went to open the door.

As soon as he opened the door, Miles's beaming face appeared before him:

"Master."

The other person placed his right hand on his heart in a gesture of respect, then solemnly stepped aside to give way to the view: "These are the people I have gathered in the shortest possible time, with all my might."

After saying that, he added, "Ah, they're all strong and can run."

"..."

Victor's gaze had already turned outside, where he saw about a dozen dwarf miners, two reasonably sturdy-looking young dwarfs, and one...

The boy I saw this morning.

The other person was carrying a one-handed sword on their back and had their head slightly lowered, as if afraid of being recognized.

Even so, the other person had the same serious expression on their face as everyone else.

"That child wanted to come here on his own; he also wanted to contribute to the territory."

Listening to Miles' explanation, Victor nodded, but couldn't help but mutter to himself: There are so many people?

He knew Miles would complete the task he was assigned, but he never imagined that so many people would be willing to participate in such a dangerous undertaking.

If I'm not mistaken, these ten or so people already make up one-fifth of the population in this territory, and they are a very small number of adult males.

"Junior, dealing with that thing, too many people will easily cause problems."

As I pondered, I heard my senior's voice through the mental connection.

Victor knew that Laura was watching the crowd outside from a short distance behind him, and he agreed with her.

However, seeing the townspeople's united expressions of hatred, he did not intend to send anyone back.

"Don't worry, I never intended for them to fight the enemy anyway."

He silently passed a message to his senior, "Senior, just stay home and wait for my good news."

As he said this, he walked out of the house, closed the door behind him, and addressed the crowd:

"I have only one request: once you leave the territory, you must follow my instructions."

Before Miles could even give the order, an older miner spoke up first:

"Since Lord Miles trusts you, we will naturally be at your beck and call."

Upon hearing this, the others all nodded in agreement, their earnest expressions making it clear at a glance that they were not lying.

Seeing this, Viktor knew he had nothing to doubt.

It's normal for these dwarfs to easily develop a sense of trust in someone their lord respects, given that they encountered a lord like Miles early on.

"Go back and each of you find a torch, and come find me at the entrance of the territory cave in a little while."

Thinking this, he gave the order.

Everyone readily agreed and hurried home.

The only human boy among the dwarfs was also preparing to go home to get a torch, but before he had taken a few steps, he heard footsteps behind him.

He turned around almost instinctively, only to see that the people who had come were Miles and that great mage.

He immediately turned back, wanting to continue walking forward.

"Mikand, come with me."

However, a hand landed on his shoulder, and a face appeared in his peripheral vision from the other side.

Victor walked forward calmly, his arm around the boy's shoulder.

"Don't be nervous. I learned your name from Miles. I just wanted to confirm a few things with you."

"..."

Mikander, however, could not calm down.

The thought that the person next to him was someone he had offended that morning, especially since he had offended a monk, made him feel uneasy.

What if the other party is in a bad mood and suddenly casts a spell to reduce you to ashes? What can the lord say then?

But what puzzled him was why the other party hadn't made a move even though they had already caught him.

"Aren't you going to do something?"

"take it easy."

In response to Mikander's question, Viktor answered casually, a faint smile playing on his lips:

"I'm just curious, you shouldn't have much combat experience at your age, so why did you want to come along?"

As Victor spoke, Miles came to his side, and upon hearing this, silently turned his head away.

Upon hearing this, Mikander's initially wary expression gradually crumbled, and his eyes dimmed.

After a long silence, the boy finally spoke: "I want to prove to my parents that I can do well elsewhere without them."

As he spoke, several laughing dwarf boys ran past. Mikander seemed to be provoked, and his head drooped slightly.

"..."

Victor also saw the dwarf boys, and then he saw Mikander's injured appearance.

He had heard Miles mention that the boy was an abandoned orphan, so he easily understood what the other was thinking.

"I originally thought you might be a burden to me."

Viktor muttered to himself, but outwardly he breathed a sigh of relief.

Mikander, this child, developed different ideas precisely because he was abandoned, and dared to do things that ordinary people would not do.

Such people are actually easy to unlock their potential.

"Prove it to them? You might as well prove it to me."

Victor loosened his grip on Mikander's shoulder and reached his left hand into the cuff of his right arm.

Mikand was looking down when he suddenly saw a wisp of light appear in his field of vision. He quickly looked up and saw the mage handing him a torch.

"Take this."

Seeing the smile on the mage's face, Mikand's eyes seemed to light up like flames.

He took the torch and nodded vigorously:

"I will."

Victor nodded to Mikander, then took out a crystal bottle and placed it in the other's arms: "Drink it when I tell you to take it later."

Mikander stopped in his tracks and looked down, where he saw a small, exquisitely designed bottle containing a shimmering silver liquid.

This appearance makes it hard not to think that it is some kind of magic potion.

"This is too valuable..."

Mikand wanted to say something more, but when he looked up, he saw that the mage had already walked away, and only the lord with a serious expression was in front of him.

"The quality of this medicine looks quite good; the shimmering silver light in the liquid indicates that the medicine has been enhanced to a level far exceeding its original effect."

Miles pointed to the crystal bottle and said, "Do you know what this means? It means this potion is of perfect quality."

"Gurgle."

Mikander listened in a daze, seemingly understanding what Miles was trying to say, and couldn't help but swallow.

Miles offered no further explanation, simply saying, "Do a good job, kid."

After saying just that one sentence, the other person followed the young man's figure ahead.

Upon seeing this, Mikand instinctively clenched the potion in his hand, his expression growing increasingly serious.

"Mikand, you made the torch so quickly? I thought I'd be the fastest!"

Just then, a slightly regretful voice came from behind him.

Mikander glanced at the other man and said in a low voice, "This was personally bestowed upon me by the Mage."
