75. "Police-Community Cooperation": Perez's Impact

Just as Caribou's underlings were frantically making phone calls to his boss.

Geller and Vincent had already driven a police car to transport Perez, who had been loaded into the vehicle, to a deserted street corner.

"Alright, Mr. Perez, you can get out of the car now."

Geller turned around, holding an empty bandage core in his hand, his arms and legs wrapped in linen bandages, and Perez looked shocked as he spoke.

The former gang leader was still reeling from the shock of personally experiencing extraordinary power.

Just now, Geller had simply given him a roll of plain linen bandage to wrap around his injured leg and hand.

He thought it was just a sudden act of humane care from the police, but when he actually wrapped it around his body, a strange power came from under the bandage, and his hands and feet were healed without any medicine!

"Lynn also said that you were badly injured before, so he made you drink this too."

As he spoke, Geller reluctantly took out a glass test tube, about the size of an index finger, from his breast pocket. The tube contained a clear, transparent red solution.

"What is this now?"

Despite being filled with resistance and vigilance when faced with the group he hated most in his life—the police—Perez accepted the small bottle from the other person with some skepticism due to the healing effect of the magical bandage.

"This is a magical little gift from Lynn. You'll see the effects once you drink it. Seriously, for scum and degenerates like you, Lynn actually takes such good care of you... Don't forget his kindness after you make it big again."

Upon hearing this, Perez's eyes widened in even greater surprise than when the linen bandages had been wrapped around his body. It turned out that these two policemen had an unspeakable close relationship with Lynn.

He was just a homeless man who posed as a witch doctor and swindled people everywhere.

Okay, although he does have some ability, why would a sergeant of such a high rank be associated with him? And judging from the tone and content of his words, it's not a simple relationship of paying tribute and protecting each other. On the contrary, it seems that Lynn is their superior.

He opened the test tube with some skepticism and took a small sip of the red reagent.

It doesn't have any strange or unusual taste; in fact, it's a bit sweet.

He gritted his teeth, tilted his head back, and gulped it down. After five seconds of anxious waiting, he suddenly felt a warm current flow through his entire body.

The parts of his body that had been beaten, except for his broken hand and foot, all recovered quickly, and the bruises and swelling disappeared without a trace!

If Lynn were here now, he would see that his health bar was in the 70s, but it instantly returned to 110. The basic healing potion he bought from the shop was quite effective.

"Alright, you can get off here. If anyone asks later, remember to say that the police car lost control and crashed into a lamppost while trying to avoid a stray cat on the road, and that the two officers escorting you were knocked unconscious, which is how you managed to escape."

"Lynn also asked me to tell you that you will be at apartment building number 3 on 7th Avenue before 5 p.m. today, and you will meet the person you want to see in room 23 on the 7th floor."

After getting out of the car, Perez looked at the front of the police car and, sure enough, there were some minor collision marks on the front of the car, with a small dent in the bumper.

Seeing this scene, his shock intensified. The police were actually willing to sacrifice their car to this extent to help Lynn!

It seems I need to carefully examine my cooperation methods and attitude towards him in the future.

……

"Okay, I understand. Thank you so much, Geller. And please thank Vincent for me too."

Lynn, who received the call in the sewer, nodded in satisfaction.

Then I dialed another number.

"Hey DeSean, I've picked up the kid. You can come to me now and take the child to the designated location to hand him over to a middle-aged Latino man. Don't ask his name, and don't ask why I'm having you do this."

That's right, in order to completely extricate myself from this matter.

Lynn did not tell the two corrupt police officers that he had kidnapped the son of Carlos's gang leader, Caribou.

He also didn't tell his two street thug henchmen, Daniel and DeShawn, about it.

Instead, they broke the task down into two parts and assigned them to do them.

Before long, the skinny black henchman DeShawn arrived at the sewer where Lynn and the others were temporarily staying. Seven or eight tents had already been set up there, and the lights were very bright because of the ample supplies.

Light snow has begun to fall on the ground, and the temperature has dropped to around 0 degrees Celsius, but the temperature here underground is still 7 to 8 degrees Celsius, which is much warmer.

After DeShawn came in, he sneezed several times due to the drastic temperature change.

"This is Uncle DeSean, just follow him."

Lynn was still a little reluctant to do such a thing, so Mike took over the task of handing over the person to him.

"Could you give him a word of advice? Even though he's been handed over to you, he's still just a child with a mild intellectual disability. Tell him not to go too far."

Finally, Lynn couldn't resist and stepped out of the tent, giving a word to DeShawn who was about to leave.

……

Having done all that, Lynn had done everything within her power.

Now all that's left is to wait for the results. If they're lucky, they'll soon be able to leave this dark, damp, and smelly sewer and return to the surface.

Now he has enough money to earn and some savings to allow everyone in the Fountain Gang to live a slightly more decent life.

Just as he was planning his next move in his tent, Jack, with his messy blond hair, suddenly barged in, his face showing the shock of someone who had witnessed Megatron battling the Calabash Brothers. He pointed in a certain direction outside the tent, his mouth agape, but he was too shocked and frightened to utter a single word.

"What's wrong, Jack? Tell me slowly, how about we have a cup of coffee first?"

Lynn handed him a cup of coffee that she had just brewed but hadn't had a chance to drink yet. The other man waved his hand, nervously swallowed, and finally regained his composure.

"Over there, around that corner in the sewer, oh my god, you have no idea what I saw!"

"What did you see? What scared you like that? A dead rat? Or a dead person?"

Lynn thought he was making a mountain out of a molehill. After all, the conditions were so harsh deep underground that it was understandable that some homeless people would die here because they couldn't bear the cold and hunger.

"No, really no! What should I say? My God, it's fucking terrifying! Lynn, you have to come with me to see it!"

Jack swallowed hard again, his eyes bulging out of their sockets in terror.

"I guarantee you, Lynn, even if you're a well-informed and powerful witch doctor, you'd be so terrified by such a sight that you'd throw up your dinner from the night before!"
