Chapter 91 Fire Giant Sequoia

"Hey, you old miser, still haven't found it? Last time you were looking for something, it wasn't this difficult."

In a shady spot, Flander and the three rested while he continued his search for a target.

The most difficult part of hunting soul beasts is not killing them, but finding them. If you're unlucky, you might wander around for months without finding the target you want.

If Flander hadn't undergone a fundamental upgrade and gained the ability to control the omnipresent wind patrol, Zhao Wuji would have had a difficult time finding a suitable soul beast within two months.

Now that he's tasted the benefits of Flander's abilities, Zhao Wuji is even pushing his luck, wanting him to find his own target within a day.

"If they keep urging you, then go find it yourself. If you can't find it in a day, I'll deduct a day's wages from your pay."

Flanders didn't indulge him and responded in a detached tone.

"Well, never mind then."

Zhao Wuji waved his hand, immediately admitting defeat. He was just used to having his way and wanted to do things his way.

Flanders remained silent, frantically processing the jumbled information carried by the wind through his mind.

Sometimes, a strong or rare target makes it easier for Flanders to find.

Because in that case, all unsuitable targets can be directly eliminated, and even finding someone with innate full soul power can be clearly identified.

But now, the target is a hundred-year-old soul beast. All the hundred-year-old soul beasts in the entire Star Dou Great Forest have to be reviewed first, and then the selection is made.

With such a torrent of information processed by the brain, Flanders' speed naturally slowed down.

But the ultimate wind is still the ultimate wind. When he opened his eyes again, Flander had already identified several targets through investigation.

"Xiao Ao, Xiao Sun, come here."

Flander grabbed one cub in each hand, then sprouted wings on his back and took flight with a single swing.

They are just two children now, and it's not time for them to hunt spirit beasts on their own to train, so Flander naturally took on all the responsibilities.

"Old Zhao, you come along too."

As for Zhao Wuji, he has legs and can run over there.

"Hey----"

Zhao Wuji cursed under his breath, but only said it indifferently, and then hopped after him.

As they traversed the forest, their targets were only hundred-year-old soul beasts, so they stayed on the outskirts of the great forest, where there were basically no ten-thousand-year-old soul beasts. Naturally, the two Soul Saints could be a bit arrogant.

With the wind whistling past their ears, Flander soon brought Oscar to the nearest target.

Before they even got close, a huge shadow was cast over them, and when Flander regained his footing and Oscar looked up, he almost had to look up at it.

What appeared before us was an enormous grove of trees, each one so thick that it would take ten people to encircle it, towering into the clouds and blocking out the sun.

The air was thick with a smell of sulfur, or perhaps the ash-like odor of vegetation. The surroundings were utterly silent; there was hardly any animal sound.

Oscar felt a softness under his feet. Looking down, he saw that the ground looked like it had been burned by a fire; it was pitch black and piled with ashes.

"Teacher, this is—"

Flander pointed to the group of giant trees in front of him and began to explain.

"Fire Giant Sequoia is a plant-type soul beast created from the common giant sequoia tree."

Giant sequoias are plants that actively attract fire because their cones require high temperatures to crack open and release seeds after they mature, and the ashes after a fire also provide nutrients for the seedlings.

According to the plant college, they belong to the fire-dependent plant group?

When mature, the diameter at breast height of a common giant sequoia can reach over 10 meters, and its height can reach 100 meters. It is probably the largest common plant in terms of size. Its bark is 20-60 centimeters thick, with deep longitudinal fissures in a sponge-like manner, and has extremely strong resistance to corrosion and fire.

Furthermore, the trees can be over 3000 years old, and even if they are not plant spirit beasts, some giant sequoias are over 5000 years old.

Once a giant sequoia becomes a soul beast, it takes at least ten thousand years to grow. However, there are always exceptions, and here is a hundred-year-old giant sequoia.

Ordinary giant sequoias have nothing to do with fire, but the soul beast Torch Fir can actively release flames. Once it forms a forest fire, it is enough to burn for at least a kilometer, turning all living things within the range into its own nutrients. It is an extremely terrifying soul beast.

Even common giant sequoias need to be cleared promptly to prevent forest fires, let alone staghorn firs, which must be removed immediately upon discovery.

With its largest size, powerful vitality, and mutation of the fire element, even though the fruit of the giant sequoia is inedible, it is absolutely qualified as a soul ring. I think the pitch-black ground around us was also caused by the giant sequoia after it was born, in order to improve its cultivation.

I'm afraid that in time, not only animals, but even these other giant sequoias will be burned and absorbed by it.

However, by then it will be discovered and eliminated; thankfully, not now.

A large fire would be enough to keep some soul beasts away from this place, and soul masters would naturally avoid danger as well, since this place is on the outskirts.

Flanders and his group were lucky to find this place, and the wind also guided them.

The Star Dou Great Forest is so vast that strange changes can occur here at any time.

"Teacher, what about my first spirit ring—"

Oscar instantly became excited. Becoming a soul beast requires at least ten thousand years, and now it's exactly one hundred years, plus it's related to fire, which is perfect for him!

"Old miser, let's go! Get the soul ring for Little Aozi!" Zhao Wuji rubbed his hands together, ready to take action.

"It's good, but it's a pity we're a step too late. With such an anomaly, professionals will naturally come to investigate. Let's go take a look."

While the Fire Giant Sequoia is powerful, it is also terrifying. In a sense, this kind of spirit beast can even be considered an evil spirit beast, feeding on the destructive potential of ecosystems.

Flander waved his hand and said calmly.

"who!"

Zhao Wuji narrowed his eyes. Could it be the Spirit Hall, which is the closest to here?

Due to geographical factors, the Spirit Hall is located right between Soto City and the Star Dou Great Forest, only slightly to the south.

"It's not the Spirit Hall. As I mentioned before, the Botanical Academy is the one that studied the giant sequoias, and they're the ones who rushed here after hearing the news. We're the latter."

Flander stroked his chin, but his tone remained calm.

"Let's go see what's going on. Not everyone can absorb this giant fire fir."

"The College of Plants—"

Zhao Wuji murmured, "Never heard of such a place in the world?"

"A giant firewood, it really is a giant firewood, and a century-old one at that!"

The instructor leading the group from the Botanical Academy, a white-haired, level 60 Soul Emperor, looked at the towering fire fir before him and was almost incoherent.

The surface resembles flowing lava, the tree roots are several meters thick and extend deep into the ground, and each leaf is larger than a human head, with flame-like patterns on it.

The old man's expression was slightly mesmerized as he gazed at the giant tree before him.

What a beautiful and powerful plant! It belongs to both wood and fire, which is perfect for Xiao Yao. Let it grow for a while longer and reach the age of a thousand years. It will be perfect for Xiao Yao's third spirit ring, the Crimson Flame Thorn.
