Chapter 94 Soul Rings Can Increase Height

"Old miser, what do you think Little Ao's first soul skill will be? The God of Food Martial Soul, which means he can summon any kind of food, right?"

Looking at Oscar, who was sitting cross-legged and focused on absorbing the spirit ring, Zhao Wuji stroked his chin and asked with a hint of curiosity.

"Well, that's hard to say."

Based on the comics, absorbing a snake resulted in the appearance of a mushroom, and absorbing a scorpion resulted in the appearance of a chili pepper, indicating that the type of soul beast absorbed has little to do with the summoning of soul skills.

More often, it is related to the state of soul power, such as the flight of the Phoenix-tailed Crested Serpent and the burst of power of the Earth King, which correspond to the flying mushroom and the berserk state of all attributes, respectively.

If it's a spirit beast like the Fire Giant Sequoia, the combination of its fiery eruptions and the plant's vitality would create a spirit skill food that might be—

"barbecue!"

Ouyang Sun suddenly spoke, pointing with his finger to a charred remains of a spirit beast not far away, the nature of which was almost impossible to discern.

When he used to survive alone in the wilderness of the mountains, Ouyang Sun quite liked thunderstorms. Even if it was pouring rain, if lightning struck from the sky, he might be able to have a delicious meal.

"Barbecue?"

Upon hearing this, Flander's eyes lit up.

Indeed, how can the God of Cookery's martial spirit be limited to ingredients? It should showcase culinary skills and techniques.

The so-called stir-frying, deep-frying, braising, and simmering methods include pan-frying, stewing, braising, simmering, boiling, steaming, stuffing, stewing, simmering, baking, roasting, smoking, stir-frying, pickling, and marinating. The methods include candied meat, honey glaze, simmering, and fermentation.

If Xiao Ao were to demonstrate these techniques, wouldn't he be closer to the God of Cookery? Otherwise, he would just be a food wholesaler.

Flander has new plans for Oscar's development and training, but ultimately, we still need to see what Oscar's first spirit ring is.

"Your idea is excellent, Xiao Sun. It has given me a new plan."

Patting Ouyang Sun on the shoulder, Flander realized that his considerations were slightly lacking; indeed, the master and apprentice could grow together.

"hey-hey."

Ouyang Sun scratched his head and smiled. He was just guessing, but making his teacher happy was a good thing.

"Hmm!"

Just as the teacher and student were enjoying this warm moment together, Oscar suddenly let out a muffled thud, as if he had suffered a severe blow, and his face turned deathly pale.

"That old miser, that's—"

"The impact of a few sacrifices is not a big problem."

Flander spoke calmly, approached Oscar, and, surrounded by wind elements, nodded after a moment of sensing them.

"Little Ao." A steady voice sounded, "Use the incantation I gave you earlier, and pay attention to your breathing and the circulation of your soul power."

All of these methods were derived from the skills of martial arts masters such as Master Raccoon, Old Man, and Bang. Flander combined these with the methods of cultivating soul power from his sublimated memories and summarized many ways suitable for children to cultivate.

Oscar and Ouyang Sun were closely observed by Flander, and within two months, they had already memorized the methods Flander taught them.

Oscar, who had been in slight pain, regained his composure upon hearing Flander's voice, his breathing returned to normal, and he gradually began to accept the power within the spirit ring.

The Fire Giant Sequoia only possessed instinctive consciousness and posed no threat to Oscar's spirit, but its immense and frenzied soul power still put the child under some strain.

But a genius is still a genius. Oscar was a food-type soul master born with full soul power. As he gradually adapted to the soul power of the Fire Giant Sequoia, the pain on his face was no longer visible. In fact, in addition to becoming his soul skills, this soul power gradually improved other aspects of his body due to its excess.

"Ugh————"

Oscar made a sound again, but this time it wasn't a cry of pain, but a comfortable groan, as if he were soaking in a hot spring.

Flanders glanced at it a few times, then shook his head with a smile, thinking that this was a stroke of luck for the kid.

"You old miser, what's wrong?"

"Little Ao is lucky. Besides the soul power, the Fire Giant Sequoia's soul ring also contains the natural life force of its race, which Little Ao is absorbing together."

That's how geniuses are. If it were an ordinary soul beast, it would at most absorb the soul power of the Fire Giant Sequoia, but it wouldn't even think about gaining life force.

This can be understood as the difference between digesting 30% and digesting 90%.

For geniuses, taking medicine nourishes their bodies and promotes growth; for those without talent, taking medicine only turns them into medicine addicts. Although it is extremely unbalanced, that is the reality.

Flander observed Oscar's appearance with particular care.

As teachers, in addition to providing students with resources and knowledge, it is also very important to provide learning methods that enhance their "digestion" ability.

"Old Zhao, get ready to set up camp. Xiao Ao's soul ring absorption is no longer a problem. Now it just needs time, probably tomorrow."

"I'll listen to you."

They said it would be tomorrow, but Flanders and the others waited until the afternoon of the next day, close to evening.

The Fire Giant Sequoia's century-old spirit ring finally dissipated, completely merging with Oscar.

When Oscar opened his eyes again, he felt an inexhaustible amount of power within him.

"Teacher, I did it!"

Oscar jumped to his feet, but almost stumbled and fell. It wasn't that his legs were numb from sitting for too long, but rather that his clothes were too tight around him.

"Teacher—I feel like I'm having trouble breathing. Could it be that I'm not absorbing the nutrients properly?"

Oscar spoke with a hint of pain, until a helpless-looking Flander stepped forward and yanked open the tight collar around his neck.

"And now?"

"Much better!"

"?"

Oscar then realized something was wrong. He looked down at himself and found that his clothes had suddenly shrunk a size and were extremely ill-fitting.

"Teacher, this is—"

"You've grown up."

Flanders chuckled and gestured that Oscar's head was almost ten centimeters taller than before.

「!?」

Oscar was taken aback and quickly touched himself, finding that his clothes were binding him. He then turned his gaze to Ouyang Sun in the distance.

Ouyang Sun walked over with his lips pursed. Oscar looked down and realized that he was now a head taller than his former friend.

Oscar's lips twitched a few times; he really wanted to laugh, but he ultimately held it back.

That's great! So absorbing spirit rings can actually make you grow taller!

"Laugh if you want to. You have to thank that giant firewood for giving you all the life force it had accumulated. You are also growing, which is why you have grown so much taller."

"Hahahaha!" Oscar laughed wildly. "Teacher, I really am a genius!"

"Sort of, but you can't be arrogant yet. It took you almost a whole day to absorb this one spirit ring."

"What, a day? But this day isn't much different from when I close my eyes—uh."

Seemingly having figured something out, Oscar weakly shut his mouth.

"Alright, stop joking around. Show me, Little Ao, your first soul skill."

Zhao Wuji walked over and asked Oscar, "Is it barbecue or not?"

"Haha, Teacher Zhao, you can't wait either, can you?" Oscar put his hands on his hips again. After living in the academy for two months, his true nature had almost been revealed.

"My first soul skill is the first of its kind since the beginning of humankind—"

"Is it barbecue?"

"How did you know!?"
