Cultivating Immortality: Beginning with Blessings from the Immortals

Master Zhou picked up the yellow paper and examined it carefully. His expression of shock deepened, and he said in disbelief:

"Is this your first time drawing a spirit-gathering array?!"

Chen Yi nodded emphatically and replied, "Not bad, I am a novice in formations."

"This spirit-gathering array was taught to me on my own. Today, thanks to Master Zhou's guidance, I was able to barely complete it."

Master Zhou was repeatedly amazed. To be able to learn the art of gathering spirits in such a short time, especially for someone who had only just begun to explore the art of formations, was truly a prodigy.

Although Chen Yi's cultivation level was relatively low, it still aroused Master Zhou's interest in taking him as a disciple.

"Ahem, not bad."

"Stay behind and wait for me after class," Master Zhou said in a low voice.

Upon hearing this, Chen Yi naturally agreed, immediately realizing that the other party must greatly appreciate him.

Master Zhou then picked up Chen Yi's spirit-gathering array and showed it to everyone so they could observe and learn from it. He then said:

"I'll teach you another lesson today. The most important thing in learning formations is actually talent."

"Some people study for years and still can't draw a first-order formation, while those geniuses..."

For a moment, the cultivators in the academy all showed surprise, and their gazes toward Chen Yi were filled with envy and astonishment.

Chen Yi picked up his spirit brush and continued to draw the array patterns. He knew he would have to put in more effort to create the Poison Cloud Spirit Transformation Array.

Having successfully drawn the spirit-gathering array the first time, he quickly succeeded in drawing the array pattern again.

At this moment, several lines of large golden characters appeared leisurely in front of Chen Yi.

[Desiring to receive blessings from the Nine Heavens Mystic Maiden's formation, but it has not been activated.]

[Sacrifice: Spirit Gathering Array *1, Jade Array Plate *1, Nine Purple Fire Array Flag *5, Low-grade Spirit Stones 500]

Chen Yi looked surprised when he saw the gold lettering, but then his eyes flashed with ecstasy.

Just as he had predicted, as long as he learned the formation and took practical action, he might be able to trigger the blessings of the immortals.

"The Nine Heavens Mystic Maiden is said to be a war goddess from ancient times on Blue Star who was in charge of military strategies, talismans, and formations," Chen Yi thought to himself.

With a thought, he immediately manifested the effect of the Nine Heavens Mystic Maiden bestowing blessings.

[Blessing of the Nine Heavens Mystic Maiden: Success rate of drawing first-tier array patterns +20%, drawing speed +20%, and reduction of array spiritual power consumption]

[Exclusive Passive Skill: Exquisite Insight, Profound Understanding of Array Formations]

The Seven Apertures Exquisite effect can enhance a cultivator's spiritual sense, while the Array Dao Profound effect can improve an array master's control over arrays.

Chen Yi planned to find a way to buy offerings immediately after class.

He could handle the Spirit Gathering Array and 500 low-grade spirit stones, but he had never heard of the Azure Jade Array Plate and the Nine Purple Fire Array Flag; they must be very expensive.

As dusk approached, Master Zhou announced the end of get out of class.

The other cultivators left the school, leaving only Chen Yi waiting for Master Zhou at the door.

Master Zhou put away the array plates and flags and stepped closer to Chen Yi.

"Master Zhou, what brings you to keep me here?" Chen Yi asked knowingly.

Master Zhou stroked his beard and began to speak:

"You have a great talent for formations. Would you be interested in becoming my apprentice?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Yi did not hesitate at all and immediately knelt down to become his disciple.

The reason was simple: he learned from Deng Liangyu that Master Zhou was a formation master of the Tianling Sect.

His own strength is at the mid-Foundation Establishment stage, but he is able to create third-order Core Formation stage formations, so he has a lot of prestige in the Heavenly Spirit Sect.

Upon seeing this, Master Zhou laughed heartily: "You're a promising young man, lad, you're just my type."

"I like your personality; you're not like those other cultivators who are all talk and no action."

Master Zhou stepped forward and helped Chen Yi up, telling him that a formal apprenticeship ceremony would be held next time he came.

"Alright, your master still needs to return to the Heavenly Spirit Sect."

"Your cultivation level is relatively low, but that's not a problem. Once you learn how to create a few first-tier formations..."

"When you join the Heavenly Spirit Sect's assessment, you'll pass smoothly," Master Zhou instructed.

Chen Yi's eyes lit up upon hearing this; joining the Heavenly Spirit Sect was something he had never considered before.

If he could join the Heavenly Spirit Sect, he would not only be able to own another residence, but he would also not have to pay any management fees.

Most importantly, the resources within the Heavenly Spirit Sect were of great importance to him.

Chen Yi learned from Master Zhou that the Heavenly Spirit Sect's assessment was not fixed and might be held every few years or even more than ten years.

However, Master Zhou received inside information that the next Heavenly Spirit Sect assessment would likely be in five or six years.

Chen Yi nodded slightly upon hearing this, as he was currently only at the fourth level of the Qi Refining stage.

These past few years I've been diligently cultivating to improve my strength as quickly as possible. If I become exceptionally outstanding, I might be able to join the inner sect directly.

"By the way, Master, do you know about the Azure Jade Array Plate and the Nine Purple Fire Array Flag?" Chen Yi asked.

Master Zhou was taken aback upon hearing this, and then said:

"The Azure Jade Array Plate is used to set up a first-order water-attribute array, while the Nine Purple Fire Array Flag is used to set up a first-order fire-attribute array."

"However, these are all used by powerful first-tier formations, and you can't use them now."

Chen Yi smiled calmly and said that he has a favorite formation and wants to create it in the future.

Master Zhou nodded slightly upon hearing this and waved his right hand.

The next moment, several orbs of light shot out from his storage bag.

Master Zhou handed the array plate and array flags to Chen Yi:

"Since you've already become my disciple, I'll give you the Azure Jade Array Plate and the Nine Purple Fire Array Flag as your discipleship gift."

Upon hearing this, Chen Yi immediately bowed and expressed his gratitude. He had only mentioned it briefly, yet Master Zhou was able to immediately give him the array plate and array flags.

"Alright, why are you being so polite, master and disciple?"

"These are my insights on creating first-order formations. Take them back and take a look. I'll be testing you separately next time," Master Zhou said seriously.

Chen Yi nodded solemnly. A strict teacher produces outstanding students, and he would naturally not slack off in the slightest.

He accepted the jade slip from Master Zhou and bowed again in gratitude.

Master Zhou nodded in satisfaction, took a wine flask from his waist, took a few big gulps, and said:

"You can go back now. I'll teach you separately next time."

After bowing deeply, Chen Yi turned and left the school.

Leaving the outer gate of the Heavenly Spirit Sect, Chen Yi felt light on his feet and relaxed all over. He had been in this world for so long, and today he actually had his own backer.

Chen Yi wasn't overjoyed. Although he had become an apprentice, he still needed to focus on his own abilities.

After leaving the Tianling Sect, he went straight to the Hundred Treasures Pavilion, intending to purchase the array plate and array flags for the Poison Cloud Spirit Transformation Array.

Upon entering the Treasure Pavilion, Chen Yi revealed his identity and was immediately greeted by a special person.

He followed the servant to the formation area and began to select formation plates and flags.

Chen Yi inquired about the Azure Jade Array Plate and the Nine Purple Fire Array Flag from the servant. Upon seeing the price, he was astonished to find that they cost two thousand low-grade spirit stones.

"That's really expensive. I only have a little over a thousand spirit stones right now," Chen Yi thought to himself, secretly shocked.

He asked the servant if there were any array plates and flags suitable for the Poison Cloud Spirit Transformation Array.

After the servant made his selection, a cyan-purple crystal array plate and several cold iron array flags floated to Chen Yi's face.

"How many spirit stones are they worth?" Chen Yi asked.

The servant replied, "Honored guest, the array plate and array flags are priced at 1,500 low-grade spirit stones."

Upon hearing this, Chen Yi checked his storage bag and found that he was still short more than two hundred spirit stones.

"Does this mean we have to wait until the spirit insects and spirit rice mature before we can buy them?"
