Time slipped away quietly between shuffling and playing the cards.

I don't know how much time passed, but the door behind me finally opened.

Akemi Miyano came out, her eyes slightly red, but a smile playing on her lips. She paused for a moment when she saw the three people squatting on the floor in the corridor playing cards.

Shiho Miyano followed her out, and upon seeing the scene before her, her expression changed from sadness to a subtle confusion.

Madeira, the organization's assassin, sat cross-legged on the ground with playing cards and banknotes scattered in front of him, a "I'm so lucky today" smile on his face.

He has clearly adapted to the playing styles of both organizations.

"Sir, they're out!"

Seeing that the Miyano sisters had finished their conversation, the men in black breathed a sigh of relief. Lin Ye turned around and saw the two sisters standing in the doorway. He immediately stood up from the ground. He haphazardly stuffed the banknotes into his pocket, dusted off his pants, and quickly switched back to his previous indifferent expression.

"Finished talking?"

"We're done talking."

Upon hearing this, Lin Ye nodded and turned to the two men in black.

"You take this woman back, I'll take Sherry back to the lab." Lin Ye ordered the men in black, and then left the room with Miyano Shiho, who was reluctant to part with him.

Sherry was very quiet on the way back.

soon.

Lin Ye arrived at the organization's research institute. In the corridor of the underground laboratory of the pharmaceutical factory, white lights illuminated every corner in detail.

Lin Ye walked in front, with Shiho Miyano following behind. On both sides of the corridor were rows of transparent laboratories, the instruments and equipment inside reflecting a cold metallic luster under the lights.

Shiho Miyano's gaze lingered on Lin Ye's back for a moment. He also noticed that the man hadn't said much since they left the safe house.

"Mr. Madera," Shiho Miyano said.

Lin Ye didn't stop walking, but merely tilted her head slightly: "Hmm?"

"Thank you for today."

"You already said that."

"But I think I should say it a second time."

Shiho Miyano's tone was calm, but her words carried much more weight than the first time: "My sister is very important to me. I remember the favor you did for us by allowing us to meet."

Lin Ye did not respond.

"I'm leaving now. Remember to contact me again if you need something like this next time."

He waved his sleeve and took the thermos cup from the laboratory.

Lin Ye did not go directly to the elevator, but turned a corner in the corridor and walked into the other side of the building, the building's warehouse and material storage area.

The corridor was lined with tightly closed iron doors, each labeled with a category: office supplies, laboratory consumables, electronic equipment, and communication equipment. Lin Ye paused at each door, glanced at the label, and continued walking until he found the door labeled "communication equipment."

He pushed the door open and went in.

Behind the door was a room of moderate size, with various equipment neatly stacked on shelves against the wall.

Walkie-talkies, encrypted cell phones, signal jammers, miniature earpieces—all are organization-specific models, the kind you can't buy on the market.

"Good stuff, good stuff." Lin Ye stood in front of the shelf, his eyes scanning the items, and then he began to take out the burlap sack he had planned to use to pack them up.

Take two walkie-talkies. Take three encrypted cell phones. Take one signal jammer. Take a box of miniature earpieces; test the waters beforehand by reselling organizational materials.

"I really am a genius!"

Lin Ye praised himself for his ingenuity. He stuffed the items into a black backpack he found in the corner, zipped it up, slung it over his shoulder, and walked out of the room.

The looting wasn't over yet; high-end toiletries, imported snacks, cases of mineral water, and several bottles of red wine that didn't look cheap were also found.

take.

Why not take it if it's free?

Lin Ye had no intention of being polite to the organization.

He took a few bars of chocolate, two bottles of red wine, and a box of tea from the shelf and stuffed them into his backpack. Soon, the backpack was bulging.

The zipper is almost impossible to zip up.

As he walked out of the room, he encountered a researcher wearing a white lab coat.

The researcher stopped abruptly upon seeing Lin Ye, his relaxed expression turning stiff. His gaze lingered on the bulging backpack on Lin Ye's back before quickly shifting away, as if he had seen something he shouldn't have.

"Mr. Madera," the researcher's voice trembled slightly.

Lin Ye glanced at him and walked past him expressionlessly.

The researcher stood pressed against the wall, barely daring to breathe, until Lin Ye's figure disappeared at the end of the corridor. Only then did he let out a long breath, his legs almost giving way and he collapsed to the ground.

Lin Ye visited a few more rooms.

In the room with the surveillance equipment, he took two pinhole cameras.

At the armory, he hesitated for a long time, but ultimately only took a Glock pistol and two magazines. It wasn't because he didn't want to take more, but because his backpack was simply too full.

As he stepped into the elevator with his bulging backpack, the guards outside watched him go in, their faces expressionless. But the moment the elevator doors closed, Lin Ye heard one of the guards say in a very low voice, "Those things he's carrying...do we need to report them?"

The other guard's voice was even lower: "If you miss, then report it."

Lin Ye overheard this conversation in the elevator and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.

When I walked out of the building, it was already dark.

The sea breeze from Tokyo Bay carried a salty, damp scent, and in the distance, several cargo ships had their lights on on the sea, like fireflies floating in the night.

Lin Ye threw his backpack into the trunk, got into the driver's seat, and started the car.

I had a very fruitful day.

He met the Miyano sisters, received his payment, exploited the organization, and even won a considerable amount of money.

"What a beautiful day!"

The car entered the main road, where traffic was much lighter than during the day. Lin Ye turned on the radio; an old song was playing on the music channel, its melody soothing and making one feel drowsy.

suddenly.

The bell rang again for the seven children.

"Gin again?" Lin Ye yawned and reached for his jacket on the passenger seat—his phone was in the jacket pocket.

Because he turned his head to look at the passenger seat, Lin Ye didn't notice what was happening in front of him, and the importance of safe driving was immediately apparent at this moment.

Just as Lin Ye's fingers touched the collar of his coat, the car jolted violently, followed by a muffled thud, as if it had hit something.

"Holy crap! Did we hit a speed bump?"

Lin Ye slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching against the asphalt. His body lurched forward due to inertia, only to be pulled back by the seatbelt.

The car was quiet for a few seconds.

Only the music on the radio continued to flow at a leisurely pace.

Lin Ye gripped the steering wheel, his heart pounding faster.

What did he bump into?

"Damn it, this is all Gin's fault for calling me. I have to get Gin to reimburse me!" Lin Ye didn't run away, but got out of the car to prepare to take responsibility for the accident.

Then he saw the unconscious man on the ground.

Hmm, Gin appeared really quickly.
