Chapter 65's ending? Just scavenging.

Upon hearing Wayne's admission, Marco leaned against his desk and said with great interest, "I was immediately drawn to her appearance when I first came here."

"I remember I was only sixteen years old then, and I just wanted to stay here forever, even if it was just to see her..."

"At the time, my two older brothers shared the same idea as me..."

He seemed very excited, recounting his glorious achievements in the city that never sleeps over the past few years.

Besides occasionally visiting Mitra, his favorite thing to do was to go to the basement to watch the "struggle between trapped beasts".

It was an extremely brutal battle, involving superhuman beings such as witchers, wizards, and pirates.

Their opponents are various mutants prepared by the City That Never Sleeps, including human beings, wild beasts, and sea monsters captured from the deep sea.

Almost every battle was accompanied by fierce fighting, bloody and gruesome scenes, and ultimately, a heroic victor.

"If I could, I would love to try participating in one, but unfortunately my father and brothers all disagree..."

Wayne had no interest in any kind of desperate struggle, and said disdainfully, "Such a battle is too dangerous. They are right to disagree."

"A true warrior must experience scenes like this."

Marco remarked with a touch of melancholy, "Actually, I'd most like to join the combat department, not the logistics department. Although I'd experience a few battles there, it's ultimately not intense enough..."

Not intense enough?

Is this his true thought?

What about Claire, whom we encountered in the slums a couple of days ago?

Wayne frowned slightly and carefully observed Marco's appearance.

His cheeks had an unnatural flush, and his eyes were wide open, but they lacked the brilliance he had shown in the Secret Investigation Division; instead, they appeared somewhat empty.

Is he being influenced by the very source of desire?

Thinking of this, Wayne slapped Marco on the shoulder and laughed, "It's a good thing you didn't go. I heard that a captain in the combat department was assassinated. Such a dangerous place, wouldn't you be constantly being targeted if you went?"

"What you say makes sense." Marco paused for a moment, scratching his cheek. "But Wayne, how did you know about Captain Wenblan's assassination?"

"I remember there was an internal gag order for that matter a long time ago. No one should have told you when you came, right?"

"Oh, I overheard Lacey mentioning it..."

Seeing the blush on his face gradually fade, Wei En breathed a sigh of relief; he must have returned to normal.

Ta-da...

Just then, crisp footsteps came from inside.

Wei En quickly lowered his head slightly, looking under the desk.

This lady Mitra was so charming that he couldn't help but be careless.

Hopefully, this hasn't attracted her attention. Otherwise, having a favorite of the Lord of Desire watching over me would definitely have more serious consequences than with Claire.

"Everything you requested is here: three sets each of the materials for the Enlightenment Potion, Healing Potion, and Mental Defense Potion. A mechanical power unit, gears, and..."

Mitra placed the items in his hands on the table one by one. "It's 7 gold pounds in total, a fair price."

"So expensive??"

Wei En looked up at her in surprise, then quickly looked down again, pretending to be checking the materials on the table.

"Marco, didn't you tell him that things in the City That Never Sleeps are 20% more expensive than the market price?"

"I forgot..."

"Forget it," Mitra leaned back in her chair, "If you don't have money, just leave."

Marco grinned shamelessly, "Of course we can't let it go like that. I'll cover the money for him first."

"Suit yourself." Mitra turned halfway around, looking like he was no longer interested in dealing with them. "Pay up and leave."

Wayne hesitated for a moment, "Brother Marco..."

Marco patted him on the back. "It's okay. I was partly responsible this time too."

"I will pay you back as soon as possible."

"Um."

As he spoke, Wei En put everything on the table into his spatial ring.

However, only half of the tools used to make the machinery were packed in; the rest were taken away in silver boxes.

He then counted out five gold pounds and placed them on the table along with Marco's two gold pounds. "Thank you."

"Transaction complete."

Mitra said lazily, "Welcome back next time, little wizard."

"OK."

Wei En picked up his suitcase and turned to leave. He didn't want to stay in this godforsaken place for even a second longer.

"Then we'll be going now, Ms. Mitra."

Seeing this, Marco turned around and walked towards the door with a flourish, his ponytail swinging a few times in a flirtatious manner, clearly in a good mood.

After the two left, Mitra glanced to the side, revealing her fair neck and the rickety hanging bell that was now swaying precariously under its weight.

Those captivating eyes reflected the image of Wei En and the other person hurrying down the corridor.

"An apprentice of the arcane arts school... Interesting."

[You are being watched by the very essence of Mitra (the Favored One), the Lord of Desire. Evaluation: Unexpectedly lucky; this hardly qualifies as attention. Reward: Survival Points +3.]

[Note: You have left the special area. The reward has been successfully issued.]

Having already left the City That Never Sleeps with Marco, Wayne quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, it was just peeping... Just as the panel's evaluation said, it was a stroke of luck that it didn't attract her attention.

I absolutely must not come here again next time.

Well, we also need to find a way to persuade Marco to come less often.

……

……

"This is what you call wrapping things up? This is the responsibility of the logistics department?"

Wayne's lips twitched, and he wished he could raise the broom in his hand and slap Marco in the face.

Marco scratched his head awkwardly. "Well, although it doesn't quite match my job responsibilities, strictly speaking, there are still some gains..."

Are you sure?

Wayne looked around the textile workshop. Broken textile machine parts were scattered everywhere, fabric lay strewn all over the floor, large patches of dried blood were visible, and there were bits of flesh scattered about...

It doesn't look like there will be any gains at all.

"Of course, of course. Don't be fooled by how messy this place is; after we clean it up, all the parts and fabric can be sent to the Laos neighborhood's recycling station..."

"Oh, recycling at the garbage station?"

"Yes, yes, it should sell for around 1 gold pound."

Wayne looked at him quietly, "I hope you're right, Brother Marco."

"I promise……"

Marco himself wasn't very confident in saying that, so he could only vent his frustration on the "junk" in the workshop: "Damn the combat department, it didn't leave anything behind."

Wei En sighed and joined him in the work.

Finishing up? Probably just collecting trash!

With you all here, I have plenty of motivation to write and I have full confidence in this book.

P.S.: My typing speed is a bit slow, and I was also a little sleepy from staying up late writing the other day...

Therefore, there will only be two updates today.

I will definitely make up for the missing chapter tomorrow. I am very sorry.
