Many children, many blessings: Helping classmates' mothers survive the apocalypse
Chapter 8: Teacher Bai, Come with Me
The deliveryman's head was broken at an odd angle, his cervical vertebrae piercing through his skin and exposed, and his body collapsed limply.
Throughout the entire process, Lin Feng didn't even stop walking.
It took less than two minutes from opening the door to stepping onto the rooftop walkway.
It's windy up high.
The roof of the rooftop walkway was mostly torn off by the strong winds, revealing a hazy gray skyline.
The ground was littered with residents' clothes drying in the sun, broken flowerpots, and several dried, blackened drag marks of blood.
Lin Feng quickly crossed the passageway through the mess and kicked open the iron door to the rooftop of Building 7.
Sprint down the stairs.
At the end of the corridor on the seventh floor.
Bai Bing was forced to stand in front of the iron gate of the garbage room.
There was no way to retreat.
Her back was pressed tightly against the brick wall, and she held up a dilapidated folding chair with both hands, desperately trying to fend off the monster that was rushing towards her.
Those signature gold-rimmed glasses hung askew on the bridge of his nose.
A few dark red stains were splattered on the lens, making it look like it was about to fall off.
A gash several centimeters long was slashed across his right forearm by the zombie's sharp fingernails.
The skin and flesh were turned inside out, and fresh blood dripped from his wrist to the ground.
The originally dignified dark red modified cheongsam was now ripped all the way up to the thigh, revealing the fair but dusty skin underneath.
Three blood-soaked zombies surrounded her in a fan shape.
The closest one, with its withered claws, has gripped the metal leg of the folding chair tightly, slowly pulling this fragile defense apart.
The stench emanating from the monster's mouth assaulted Bai Bing's face, making her stomach churn.
Bai Bing was breathing heavily, and her wrists were sore and weak to the extreme.
The iron leg gradually bent and deformed under the zombie's monstrous strength.
"Feed".
Lin Feng stood at the other end of the corridor, letting out a loud shout.
The sound echoed back and forth in the enclosed corridor.
The three zombies stopped moving in unison.
The two closest to the sound abandoned their prey, turned their bluish-gray faces, and pounced.
Lin Feng walked towards him.
The first zombie opened its jaw, dripping with black blood, and lunged straight for his carotid artery.
Lin Feng took small, quick steps, sliding his upper body to the left to dodge.
At the same instant as dodging the attack, the baseball bat in hand is lifted from bottom to top.
It hit the monster's jaw perfectly.
With a crisp "crack," the zombie's entire jawbone, along with half of its face, snapped.
He was violently thrown out, his blood splattering onto the ceiling.
Lin Feng took a half step forward and, using the force of twisting his waist, swung the stick horizontally for the second time.
The sound of bones breaking was crisp and clean.
The second zombie's head was smashed directly into the wall tiles, and red and white liquid meandered down the crack.
There's a third zombie left.
It abandoned Bai Bing and turned to stare intently at Lin Feng.
Something's not right with this monster.
Its eyes were a cloudy, dark red, and its fingernails were an inch longer than those of ordinary infected individuals, gleaming with a solid, cold light.
An enhanced form that has undergone initial mutation.
The red-eyed zombie let out a low growl, bent its legs, and launched itself forward.
It was more than twice as fast as the previous two.
The corridor is narrow, and it's easy to lose if you try to fight it out.
Lin Feng fought and retreated, luring the monster to attack.
The red-eyed zombie missed its target with a claw strike, its sharp nails scratching three deep white marks on the wall.
Debris fell in a rustling sound.
Take advantage of its exhausted strength.
Lin Feng spotted an opening and moved with ghostly speed to the monster's side and rear.
Grip the baseball bat tightly with both hands, aim at the back of its head, and thrust straight at it with all your might.
The alloy rod tip pierced through the skull, protruding half an inch from the eye socket.
The monster twitched twice, then became completely still.
The crisis is over.
The folding chair in Bai Bing's hands fell to the ground with a "clatter".
Her legs gave way and she collapsed onto the blood-stained tiles.
They were panting heavily, having survived the ordeal.
Only at times like this did she have time to look up.
Through the glasses with only one lens remaining, I could clearly see the tall figure standing in the corridor, carrying a blood-stained bat and backlit.
The facial features are familiar, but the temperament is completely different.
"Lin...Lin Feng?"
Bai Bing cried out the name in a trembling voice, her tone splitting with shock.
Lin Feng casually slung his baseball bat over his shoulder and looked down at the woman on the ground.
The homeroom teacher, who used to be so authoritative on the podium and reprimand him as "hopeless," was now kneeling amidst the mess on the floor.
Her cheongsam was tattered, her hair was disheveled, and her fair knees were covered in dust and blood.
The cheongsam was slit up to the upper thigh, revealing glimpses of her cleavage.
Bai Bing looked up at this student who used to have the worst grades.
Her eyes, which usually held a stern look, now held only awe for the strong and a will to survive.
Golden characters popped up at the edge of my retina.
[Bai Bing's approval rating has changed: -20% → 18% (her eyes flicker slightly).]
[Note: The target is currently in a state of extreme fear and shock; this act of saving their life will become the starting point of a bond.]
Lin Feng withdrew his gaze and extended his left hand toward the woman on the ground.
"Teacher Bai, come with me."
He added in a flat tone:
"...unless you want to stay here and become their dinner."
Bai Bing stared at the large, powerful hand, her lips trembling.
She bit her tongue hard, using the pain to force herself to calm down.
With her left hand covering her bleeding right arm, she shakily extended her blood-stained fingers and placed them on Lin Feng's palm.
The man's palms were warm and rough, with a reassuring weight to them.
Just as Bai Bing used the momentum to stand up...
From the stairwell deep in the corridor came a series of very dense dragging sounds.
The fight was so loud that at least five infected people are rushing up the stairs.
The roars intertwined, approaching with a death knell.
The number of zombies surging up the stairs far exceeded expectations; returning the way we came would be suicide.
Lin Feng acted decisively, grabbing Bai Bing's uninjured left wrist.
He turned and ran madly toward the backup fire escape at the other end of the corridor.
Bai Bing's only remaining stiletto heel couldn't support her weight on the blood-stained tiles.
His other bare foot slipped and slid in the sticky blood.
After running a few steps, the slender heel suddenly slipped and twisted in the gap between the tiles.
She felt a sharp pain in her ankle and lost control, falling forward.
Lin Feng noticed the feeling of weightlessness behind him but did not stop.
He turned back half a step, grabbed her with one arm, and tightly embraced her slender waist.
"Don't move."
He gave a low shout, lifted the person up, and half-dragged, half-pulled them forward.
Bai Bing was forced to press herself against his arm.
The remaining high heel flew off completely during the run, and both feet were almost off the ground.
The hem of the already cracked dark red cheongsam fluttered in the wind.
The torn fabric kept slapping against Lin Feng's trouser legs.
The two rushed into the fire escape.
Lin Feng slammed the heavy fire door shut with his backhand.
He then positioned the alloy baseball bat in his hand horizontally between the door handle and the wall.
A dull thud came from outside the door.
The iron gate rattled loudly, and the rusty hinges emitted a series of unpleasant friction sounds.
"Go up."
Lin Feng gave Bai Bing a push.
