Legendary Captain

Chapter 11 Prophecy

He Changyuan hadn't planned to ask any oral exam questions in the first place. These were all veteran instructors nearing retirement, whose practical skills were unparalleled, but their theoretical knowledge was truly lacking. Being older, they couldn't compete with a group of young people, and he had no interest in deliberately finding some obscure oral exam questions to stump the students. He couldn't bring himself to do it, so he simply decided to skip the oral exam as usual.

However, the simulator has a one-hour pre-class period, and you have to sit for that entire hour, so you can only find some topics to kill time.

Naturally, the conversation turned to Xu Xian's initial modifications. This was the only topic the students could talk about, since they hadn't even assigned a master yet!

"Xiangyu Headquarters? Aren't you one of our company's sponsored trainees?" He Changyuan asked in surprise.

Xingyou Aviation trainees undergo initial conversion training at three simulator training centers, one of which is the Xiangyu Training Center in Dianyun City. However, there's never been a case of initial conversion training at Xiangyu headquarters, so the only explanation is that Xu Xian is not a Xingyou Aviation sponsored trainee.

"Yes, I paid for everything myself!" Xu Xian did not deny it.

"Both?" He Changyuan frowned. "Where did your flight school fly? And your home airport?"

"The flight school is Xiangyu Flight School. This flight is from the airport in Hailing City," Xu Xian replied.

"Xiangyu Flight School... Hailing Base..." He Changyuan's expression was grave: "What is your relationship with Qingyuan Group?"

Back then, in order to save on simulator training costs, Blue Sky Airlines partnered with Starfly Airlines to establish a small simulator training center, namely the Xiangyu Training Center.

Originally, the Xiangyu Training Center was only open to Lantian Airlines and Xingfei Airlines. Later, with the merger of Lantian Airlines and Xingfei Airlines, the Xiangyu Training Center was incorporated into Qingyuan Group.

Over the years, the Xiangyu Training Center, which originally had only two or three simulators, has grown into the Xiangyu Training Company it is today. It now includes not only three simulator training centers, but also a Xiangyu Flight School and a cabin crew training base, making it one of the leading civil aviation training institutions in China.

Xiangyu has a rule that it does not accept training applications from individuals, only from airlines. This is different from most other simulator training centers. To increase simulator utilization, they open some older simulators to private individuals. For a fee, they can operate on the simulators.

However, Xiangyu doesn't accept this money, meaning individuals cannot train at any of Xiangyu's training institutions. Xu Xian, however, claims he obtained his private equipment from Xiangyu Flight School and underwent initial modifications at Xiangyu's simulator headquarters, completely surprising He Changyuan.

Most importantly, he actually flew from Hailing Airport!

There is only one company flying to Hailing Airport, and that is Xingfei Airlines! He Changyuan didn't believe it. It was unheard of for an airline to go to such lengths to arrange flights for him in his personal capacity.

That's why He Changyuan asked Xu Xian if he had any connection with Qingyuan Group!

Xu Xian laughed and said, "My parents know a retired pilot from Xingfei Airlines. I also like flying, so they spent some money to let me fly with Xingfei's trainees."

"Oh, I see!" He Changyuan subtly breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as it's not related to that person with the same surname, Xu, everything is fine. I was a little nervous just now because they both had the same surname. But a retired pilot from Xingfei Airlines? Well, I don't need to give him any special treatment!

After all, Starfly Airlines and Xiangyu are part of the same family. Perhaps Xiangyu is stricter with outsiders like them, but more lenient with its own people. Spending some money to smooth things over is understandable.

However, since Xu Xian still has the money to fly here, it seems his family is quite well-off, so hanging up the plane shouldn't bother him. After all, wealthy people probably don't mind being grounded for a while.

Thus, the little bit of guilt that He Changyuan felt vanished completely in his self-comfort.

......

"Zero fuel, 100 kg, cruising altitude 8900, temperature 15 degrees Celsius, center of gravity 21, Yunnan to Chengdu, takeoff from runway 21, any departure direction to the east is fine, it doesn't matter, call me when it's done!" He Changyuan was straightforward, telling Xu Xian all the key flight data without any fancy embellishments. These were the data required for normal flight operations in the CDU input. He then huddled in the control console seat, fiddling with his phone.

"You check the panel, I'll enter CDU." Xu Xian still followed the usual practice of whoever flew the plane entering CDU, but in the end, he would definitely check the panel again.

Actually, Xu Xian really wanted to tell the inspector that he could fly alone. However, he thought that flying alone would be more troublesome, and having this cooperating trainee as a helper would be quite competent.

It turned out that Xu Xian had clearly overthought things. Xu Xian's CDU had already been completed, while the trainee had just finished checking the backboard. The speed was incredible.

Xu Xian ruthlessly abandoned his last shred of hope, and in the end, he had to bear everything alone.

"You check the CDU, I'll check the panel!" Xu Xian took over the job before the trainee could finish checking the panel. If he were to be left to finish the panel check quietly, today's inspection would be pointless.

The trainee lacked autonomy; he would readily obey anyone of higher rank or more seniority. He simply nodded and obediently went to work on his CDU.

Xu Xian was quite satisfied with the trainees' obedience; at this point, he needed an obedient tool.

"Alright, instructor!" Xu Xian reported to He Changyuan that the inspection was almost complete and that everything was ready.

This time, He Changyuan even skipped the engine start-up step and placed the aircraft at the runway threshold.

He Changyuan tapped a few times on the control panel and then said, "Get ready, let's go."

"Take off, Star Travel Training Aircraft!" Instructor He's conversation was informal, but Xu Xian dared not be so casual and proceeded with the air-to-ground communication in a formal manner.

According to regulations, the throttle is still controlled by the student in the left seat. After receiving takeoff clearance, Xu Xian said, "Set to 40% N1."

Xu Xian didn't originally need to say this standard announcement, but he felt it was necessary to remind him.

The trainees precisely adjusted the throttle to 40%. All the trainees were like that; they didn't have any of their own ideas and just listened to what others said.

After setting and stabilizing the N1 value, the student presses the TO/GA switch, and the throttle automatically increases to takeoff thrust.

"N1, TO/GA method!"

"Takeoff thrust set to 90.2!"

"80! Maintain thrust!"

Shortly after the speed exceeded 80 knots, the main warning light suddenly illuminated. The trainees, whose nerves had been constantly on edge, could not withstand the immense pressure. The moment the main warning light appeared, they almost reflexively thought of aborting takeoff.

In his panic, he didn't even give the "abort takeoff" command before starting to reduce the throttle!

If he were to accept this decision, it would be a major misjudgment.

However, the moment he touched the accelerator, it seemed to get stuck and wouldn't budge an inch.

The trainee looked down and realized that Xu Xian's left hand must have been pressed against the accelerator lever at some point!
