Legendary Captain

Chapter 56 An Awkward Debut

Xu Xian, who was lagging behind the group, had no idea that Fang Ying had already assigned him another task without his knowledge.

Inside the train, Fang Ying sat in the first row. Xu Xian and Zhu Jia sat in the second row, followed by the flight attendants and security personnel.

I don't know if this is how the atmosphere should be inside the vehicle, but since the vehicle left, the atmosphere inside has been extremely dull, and no one has spoken.

Fang Ying sat in the first row, seemingly doing nothing. Zhu Jia, on the other hand, was resting with her eyes closed. Xu Xian, too embarrassed to turn around and see what the flight attendants were doing, remained silent.

There were nine people in the car, including the driver, and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop; it was really strange.

Xu Xian only felt a little uncomfortable with the atmosphere at first, but soon his attention shifted to the outside.

He remembered that when he flew from Hailing Airport to this airport before, he didn't enter the tarmac from the terminal, but from a special security checkpoint. He wondered if Yunnan Airport was the same.

However, to be fair, even small airports like Hailing Airport have dedicated security checkpoints. Yunnan Airport is, after all, a hub airport in Southwest China, so it should have one too.

Just as Xu Xian had predicted, the vehicle stopped at a security checkpoint after only five or six minutes.

The car stopped, but Xu Xian saw that Fang Ying hadn't moved and didn't know what to do, so he decided to wait and see.

At this moment, Zhu Jia stood up and patted Xu Xian on the shoulder: "Let's go!"

Xu Xian paused for a moment, then pointed to Fang Ying, who remained unmoved. Zhu Jia smiled and nudged Xu Xian again, her lips moving but no sound coming out, while she also made a hand gesture.

Xu Xian quickly understood Zhu Jia's meaning: he wanted Xu Xian to follow him!

Xu Xian was originally sitting in a seat by the aisle, and he should have been the first to get off the bus. However, Zhu Jia, wanting to set an example for Xu Xian, grabbed his arm and told him not to leave yet, but to go first.

Xu Xian understood Zhu Jia's intention, so he obediently stayed behind and watched Zhu Jia's actions.

Zhu Jia walked at the front and carried two suitcases off the bus before getting off. However, Xu Xian quickly realized that Zhu Jia was not carrying a flight attendant's suitcase, but rather a flight attendant's suitcase.

Although he didn't understand why, Xu Xian knew how to follow suit. He casually carried two boxes downstairs, just like Zhu Jia had done.

After getting off the train, he noticed that Zhu Jia had placed the two flight attendants' suitcases aside and was waving at him. Xu Xian put the two suitcases down at his feet and approached Zhu Jia.

Looking through the car window at Fang Ying still inside, Zhu Jia explained to Xu Xian, "Some captains are the first to get off when the bus stops, while others prefer to be the last, so don't worry about the captains. Also, when you get off to collect your luggage, don't specifically look for your own. Flight attendants usually board last, and their luggage is usually stacked on top. If you want to get your own flight bag, you'll have to rummage through the stack of flight attendants' bags first, which takes a lot of time. Some impatient captains or instructors might get impatient and start yelling. So, don't worry about whose luggage it is, just get it down first. Also, try not to carry just one luggage when you get off. Carrying an extra luggage makes you seem more diligent, and it will leave a better impression. Although there's no set rule for whether you carry one or two luggage, it's always good to appear diligent, even if it's just a small favor. I know it looks fake, and I don't like it, but there's nothing I can do; that's reality."

Xu Xian kept these things in mind. These were things that weren't in the manual. They seemed minor, but they were the foundation for surviving in the special workplace of an airline.

Xu Xian was somewhat exhausted by all the complicated procedures involved just getting off the bus.

Xu Xian had initially thought that pilots mainly dealt with airplanes, interacting with people much less frequently than in a typical workplace. However, it seems that the interpersonal skills pilots face are not so simple after all!

Just as Xu Xian was feeling sentimental, a tall figure jogged towards him, her high heels clicking as she carried a flight case.

Xu Xian took one look and realized it was Xia Qing.

Xia Qing went straight to Xu Xian, and upon approaching him, cheerfully handed him the flight case. Xu Xian looked down and saw that it was his flight case.

"Thank you!" Xu Xian quickly took it and kept thanking him.

Xia Qing just smiled slightly, bent down, and pulled the handle of a flight attendant's suitcase next to Xu Xian, saying, "Thank you for helping me with my suitcase too."

"Is this yours?" Xu Xian glanced at Xia Qing's box; there were no special markings on it.

Pilots' flight cases have a slot below the handle where they can insert a small card. Many pilots write their names on the cards and insert them as an identification mark. However, Xu Xian noticed that the flight attendants' cases didn't seem to have this. At a glance, all the flight attendants' cases looked the same; how did they tell them apart?

When Xu Xian was puzzled, he turned his head and saw that Fang Ying and Zhu Jia had already gone to the security checkpoint, so he quickly followed them.

Fang Ying took the lead, with Zhu Jia close behind. When Xu Xian arrived at the security checkpoint, he saw Fang Ying taking out her boarding pass from the card holder hanging on her chest.

Xu Xian followed their example and started getting his boarding pass, but when he looked up again, he found Fang Ying and Zhu Jia staring at him. Wait a minute! Not only Fang Ying and Zhu Jia, but even the security staff were looking at Xu Xian.

Xu Xian was immediately puzzled. What was going on? Could it be that there was something on his face?

Xu Xian subconsciously reached out to touch his face, but Fang Ying impatiently raised her voice: "What are you standing there like a block of wood for?"

This was awkward; Xu Xian had no idea what Fang Ying was talking about.

Just then, Xu Xian felt a gentle push on his left hand. He was about to turn around when he heard a woman's voice from behind: "Take the mission briefing and go through security!"

"Oh my god!" Xu Xian suddenly realized, how could he have forgotten about this?

It's not that Xu Xian forgot about it; he just didn't know it was his responsibility. The biggest problem for newcomers is that they can't distinguish what their responsibilities are and can't find their place.

Since Xu Xian had no idea that he was the one who prepared the task sheets, he had put both task sheets into a file folder and then into his document bag when he was packing. Now, if he needed them, he would have to look them up.

"Don't you know about the security checkpoint instructions?" Fang Ying said with some disgust.

Everyone at the security checkpoint—flight attendants, security personnel, and even the pilots—was watching Xu Xian rummage through his bag and document folders, as if he were a clown!
