The Legend of the Fishermen of Sicily

Chapter 82 Competitive Players

The fishing competition left everyone wanting more.

Twenty minutes is far too short; such a wonderful "performance" should ideally be shown once a week.

The villagers couldn't wait to get back to land and shouted at the boat Sandro was on.

Ask him when the next similar event will be held and what the competition will consist of.

Sandro, who hadn't made a public appearance in a long time, chatted with everyone in good spirits for a few minutes, occasionally cracking a joke. Afterwards, he turned and whispered to his eldest son, Antonino:

"Such activities can indeed be organized frequently. Keep an eye out for any suitable content. You can also talk to Enzo and the others about this and ask them what they are interested in. It doesn't necessarily have to be related to the sea; it can be something to keep the villagers entertained."

Since Marzamemi has not developed tourism, there are naturally few entertainment facilities, and the daily lives of the villagers are relatively monotonous and repetitive.

Antonino looked at Leo, who was still resting on the small boat, and asked his father:

"Should we ask Leo too?"

Sandro's reference to "Enzo and the others" refers to villagers in Marzamemi who have a certain influence and voice.

Based on today's performance, Leo should be included in this list as well.

Sandro stared at Leo for a long time, then shook his head after deep thought:

"Once the details are finalized, you can ask him if he'd like to participate."

"Yes, Father, I will take care of it as soon as I get back." Antonino nodded.

Sandro turned around, wanting to say a few words to his wife, but didn't see her.

He looked around but couldn't find anyone.

"Where is your mother?" Sandro asked Antonino.

Antonino pointed in the direction of the cabin:

"Mom and Angie went to see Bianchi."

Bianchi had long since burned out and was helped onto the large ship.

Mrs. Rosa was worried about her son's health, so she went with him to rest in the cabin.

Sandro sighed:

"Go in and ask about the situation, see if Bianchi has recovered."

Antonino replied:

"I've already checked, and Bianchi said he's fine, but my mother arranged to take him to see a doctor as soon as we stop."

Sandro grunted in response and turned his head away with a gloomy expression.

......

On the other side, Leo's condition wasn't much better.

The abilities 【Beginning of Control】 and 【Weakness Strike】 allow him to become a 'Child of the Sea', but his stamina is not enhanced; he remains a 'mortal'.

Pushing his limits time and time again nearly exhausted his physical strength.

As the fishing boats that had been watching the commotion gradually left, Leo remained motionless. He lay on the deck, breathing heavily, stretching his lungs, hoping to quickly replenish the air he had previously "lost."

Enzo didn't rush him, but sat down next to him and passionately "replayed" the previous exciting moments.

"You know, the moment I saw the three fish on your harpoon, it reminded me of a myth I heard as a child. Leo, you belong to the sea!"

Leo laughed and said:

"I also feel that coming to Marzamemi was the right decision."

He was physically exhausted, but his spirit remained extremely high.

Like the villagers, some even felt it wasn't enough... thinking the 20-minute 'performance' was too short.

If Bianchi is a "workaholic" who gets stronger the stronger the enemy, then he is a true daredevil.

So, Rio guessed he might be a 'competitive player'—

I feel inexplicably excited and thrilled in front of big events, without the slightest bit of nervousness; I just want to perform.

Enzo smiled again, revealing his憨厚 (honest and simple) nature.

"Yesterday I said I'd wait until you bought a big ship, just to motivate you. Now I feel like you're getting closer and closer to the day you sail that big ship."

He pointed to the fish scattered on the ground and said:

"Your potential is definitely more than 20 lira a day. You'll be able to buy a big ship and sail away very soon."

Leo has talent, strength, and hard work. He's also lucky and making rapid progress. Enzo couldn't imagine what obstacles might hinder his path to escaping poverty.

At the mention of fish, Leo immediately sat up:

"Let's go back quickly."

"Have you rested enough?" Enzo asked.

Leo replied while cleaning the fish:

"No, but there are still people waiting for me."

Enzo didn't want to row back in the small boat, so he waved to the crew in the distance, telling them to come and get a larger boat:

"The girl who cheered you on?"

Rukia was shouting so enthusiastically today that no one could ignore her.

Everyone who came to watch the spectacle knew that there was a particularly beautiful girl cheering for Leo the whole time.

Especially since the girl was a new face, everyone was more likely to remember her.

Leo did not refute:

"I told her I'd treat her to fish."

Enzo nodded, thinking that this was a "big deal" and could not be delayed. He turned around and directed the crew to quickly bring the ship closer, but then he heard a loud bang behind him.

Turning his head, he saw Leo kneeling on one knee and falling back down.

Enzo pointed at Leo, laughing so hard he bent over:

"You think you can see a girl in this weak state? You're hilarious—"

He lifted Leo up with one hand:

"Let me help you!"

Leo thought that Enzo meant to help him up when he said "help".

Little did I know that this was the beginning of a nightmare!

......

While others care about how high you fly, some people genuinely care about how tired you are from flying.

Several hundred meters away from Marzamemi, Leo spotted Lucia's figure on the dock.

Before the ship had even come to a complete stop, she was already anxiously asking Leo from below how he was doing.

Leo showed off his biceps to her:

"Very good."

Enzo and his crew, who were passing by, let out a disgusting laugh that sounded like farting.

Leo glared at them, then turned to Lucia and asked:

What kind of fish do you usually like to eat?

The girl was shouting so enthusiastically, and he had just said he would treat her to fish.

"No need." Seeing that Leo was alright, Lucia prepared to leave. "I have to go back; the deliveries aren't finished yet."

She had taken a break during work hours and should go home now.

Leo didn't try to stop her; after all, she wouldn't be leaving Malzamemi anytime soon, and he could deliver it to her later.

The two were about to part ways at the dock.

Suddenly, a car horn beeped behind him. Enzo, sitting in his Fiat, patted the steering wheel.

"I'm going back too, I'll take you all with me."

Lucia glanced at Enzo, then at Leo, seemingly trying to figure out what was going on.

It's so close... do I really need to take a car there?

Enzo pointed at Leo and said to Lucia:

"This is the reward for being a 'hero'. Leo won today and will receive the treatment of a hero."

Leo, fearing Enzo might say something strange again, said to Lucia:

"Let's take a car there then, it's quite sunny outside."

He is indeed a bit weak right now.

Rukia hesitated for a moment, then said "thank you" and opened the back door.

Enzo secretly raised an eyebrow at Leo and mouthed:

"I'm afraid you might kneel down on one knee while walking, and the girl might misunderstand."

"Shut up," Leo warned him in a low voice, and then got into the car.
