Chapter 109 What are you looking for Kobe for? What do you want with Kobe?
Just as Ye Feng whispered in Kidd's ear about the favor he needed from everyone, Wade turned around, grabbed Ye Feng's arm, and said, "Ye, let's get together tonight."
"Let's get together." Ye Feng waved his hand twice to indicate that it was no problem, and then continued to plot with Kidd about what he wanted Kidd to help with.
Kidd's expression changed from "Oh, there really is something wrong" to "This is actually quite interesting."
Amidst casual conversation and secret planning, O'Neal's minibus finally pulled up in front of the hotel the league had prepared for them: "See you tonight, guys! Shaq's got everything arranged, get some rest and enjoy yourselves!"
"Except for those under 21, you kids can find a place to sit down and have a table. Just mention Shaq's name. I already told you that all expenses for the next few days are covered by me, as long as you're an All-Star participant! Have as much fun as you want!"
After O'Neal finished speaking, he stepped on the gas again, clearly intending to return to the airport to pick up more people.
As the host, he was incredibly generous and made excellent arrangements.
Ye Feng greeted his two buddies, Kidd and Wade, and returned to his room.
However, he had just put down his luggage when someone knocked on his door. Ye Feng grabbed an ashtray and walked towards the door. He knew without guessing who was knocking.
The door opened, and Wade's smiling face appeared outside: "It's been so long since we stayed in a hotel together! It feels like I'm back in college. Want to sleep together and reminisce...? What the hell are you doing with that ashtray?"
"Because I knew it was you, you bastard," Ye Feng said. "If you don't want to get hit like this, then don't do this kind of thing again."
Wade sighed. "You haven't changed at all. You're still a scoundrel!"
"Here, this is for you. Jason asked me to bring this as a gift. He said he misses you a lot in Miami," Wade said, handing over a few small umbrellas. "He also said that Los Angeles is full of beautiful women and skinny girls, so you should be careful."
"Tell him to keep an eye on himself," Ye Feng said dismissively, and asked directly, "What time tonight?"
"9 o'clock," Wade said. "See you in the hotel lobby?"
"No problem." After saying that, Ye Feng slammed the door shut without hesitation.
Because of the ashtray in his hand, Wade didn't disturb his good friend's rest any longer and turned to leave.
At 9 p.m., Ye Feng got dressed and strolled out of the hotel lobby, where he saw Wade already waiting for him: "Where are you going?"
"The problem isn't where to go," Wade said with a pained expression, "it's how to get there."
"The entrance is swarming with reporters. If we go out, we'll definitely be stopped, and then our night will be ruined!"
"Are you an idiot?" Ye Feng snapped. "Didn't you prepare any transportation?"
"I was going to take a taxi. I always take taxis in Miami when I don't want to drive, and nobody ever pays me any attention," Wade said bitterly. "I never expected Los Angeles residents to be this crazy!"
"Where are the others?" Ye Feng felt that his roommate was becoming more and more like an idiot.
"We went out for a while ago," Wade said. "How are we going to get out?"
"Dwayne, don't ever say you know me again, it's too damn embarrassing." Ye Feng cursed as he walked towards the hotel reception. A few minutes later, he returned with a key: "Let's go, underground parking."
"Why? What did you do? Weren't there any reporters or fans in the underground parking lot?"
"The front desk of a five-star hotel offers car rental services." Ye Feng waved the keys in his hand. "And reporters and fans will have no way of knowing which car we rented. We can drive out without any hindrance."
"Well..." Wade frowned.
"Any other questions?" Ye Feng looked at this guy who was becoming more and more like an idiot and showed that he was willing to show him a little patience.
"And why are those reporters and fans still waiting at the entrance?" Wade said. "Since the front desk can rent cars, no one but an idiot would go out through the main entrance! Who are they waiting for there?"
"Dwayne, how were you planning to get out of here? If I hadn't gone to rent a car?"
"Charge! I'm fast!"
"You should give me directions. Which place did you book?" Ye Feng knew that although California law did not allow young people under the age of 21 to drink alcohol, there were some nightclubs that targeted teenagers over 18.
Considering that the people Wade brought this time are almost certainly rookies, he must have gone to a venue specifically for young people aged 18-21.
Several tens of minutes later, Ye Feng and Wade parked the car in a rather secluded spot. Then, the two got out of the car, went inside, and soon stopped in front of a private room.
"This is it, everyone should be here by now!" Wade said, pushing open the door.
After glancing at the people inside, Ye Feng almost turned around and left immediately.
If he hadn't known that Wade would never harm him, he would have thought that a few people had set a trap to hang him here.
James, Anthony, and Milicic were sitting inside.
The atmosphere was quite awkward.
Milicic was reading the ingredient list from a glass bottle, James was reading a book while wearing a fisherman's hat, and Anthony was showing off a fruit platter.
"What's he doing here?"
Then, almost simultaneously, the three people looked up at Ye Feng and asked questions.
"We're all good brothers from the same year, and I really think we should help each other and become good friends. I'm sure we can take care of each other in the future."
Wade said, "Why don't you guys order some drinks?"
"I ordered it." Milicich held up the glass bottle in his hand. "They said I wasn't old enough and would only sell me this. They said it was some kind of alcoholic beverage, but it didn't contain a single penny of alcohol. They're lying!"
"And this too." Anthony took another bite of the fruit in his hand, his face full of boredom. "If this is how it is for tonight, I'm going back. I have absolutely no interest in currying favor with certain people."
James sat there without saying anything more, continuing to read his book, but he was clearly not satisfied with Wade's behavior either.
"How could this happen? How is this possible?" Wade spread his arms wide. "Dwyane isn't going to let his guys have a boring, empty night!"
As he spoke, Wade took out his phone and made a call. Soon after, a staff member came over, whispered a few words to Wade, and then left.
"What you want, will be here right away!" Wade chuckled. "But before that, I think we should try to become friends first."
"Don't even think about it." The others said almost in unison.
These people's dislike for each other is truly from the bottom of their hearts.
Milicic and Anthony were both humiliated by Ye Feng on the court, while James was humiliated by Ye Feng off the court.
Anthony resented James for stealing too much of his thunder, James hated Milicic's arrogance, and Milicic hated the guys' strange English accents.
Ye Feng didn't dislike these guys; he just wanted to pin them to the ground and beat them up. If he didn't teach them a lesson, they'd probably still bare their teeth at him in the future.
Fortunately, the waiter who had just disappeared returned. This time, he pushed in a small cart full of drinks, scanning the room with his eyes as he served the drinks before saying, "The ladies will be here shortly!"
"Who is he, Dwayne?" After the waiter left, Ye Feng, who had felt a little uncomfortable being stared at by the waiter, said, "I don't remember you having any friends in Los Angeles."
"I have tons of friends! I know someone at every nightclub in Los Angeles! Don't worry, wherever you guys go to take a dump, I can find someone to bring you toilet paper!"
Ye Feng said, "I'm asking you, where did you meet this person?"
"He's my good friend from Chicago, we grew up together. He only moved to Los Angeles when he was in high school, and he told me that everything tonight would be the best in all of Los Angeles!"
Fine.
Seeing Wade's confident demeanor, Ye Feng decided to make the best of it.
Since we're childhood friends, he should be reliable, right?
Soon, the girls who had been promised entered the private room, and the atmosphere immediately became lively.
Especially Milic, who was sitting in the corner looking aloof, but as soon as the two girls sat down next to him, he immediately became completely excited.
Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James are similar.
A girl separated the group, diverting the conversation and attention, and everyone naturally stopped being so argumentative and sarcastic.
It's not easy to come to Los Angeles, so let's have fun first!
What these people didn't know was that at that moment, at the adult group's table, Kidd was wiping away tears with a glass of wine in his hand.
"My brother has had a tough time! He grew up in the slums. An Asian man growing up in the Chicago slums—just that one sentence is enough for you to imagine how difficult his childhood was."
"He finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel and was selected fourth overall. But after only a month of playing, he did nothing but play basketball. But it was precisely because he only played basketball, and because he played basketball so well, that he was able to achieve his goal."
"Some people were jealous of him, and some people drove him away from Memphis!"
"Jason, your story has a fatal flaw," Iverson, who had been listening and adding fuel to the fire, said. "Memphis has to force someone to leave? Anyone who hears they're going to be traded by Memphis would just be excited!"
"Alan, you don't understand! Young people and old fogies like you think about completely different things. They value friendship..."
Family members are emotional and value relationships.
"And what I'm saying is that this place, which my buddy cherished and considered his home, abandoned him after he'd only been there for less than two months."
"The reason for being abandoned was not because I played poorly, was in bad form, was disobedient, or anything else."
"The only reason he was abandoned was because someone wanted him to leave, someone thought he was in their way and wanted him to move aside!"
"Many of us here have experienced or are experiencing this kind of thing."
Kidd looked at O'Neal: "Because he's not popular enough."
"Because he's not young enough." Kidd then looked at O'Neal.
"Because of the fans... never mind." Kidd stopped talking. He couldn't keep watching O'Neal, could he?
Kidd could only turn to Cassell: "Because he was ugly, he was envied and framed by the other players on the team, and was eventually kicked out."
"Guys, this world shouldn't be like this! We should get revenge, we should let those bastards who look down on others and drive away teammates just because they're weaker than them know what's what."
"The NBA isn't like that!"
"Jason, what exactly do you want us to do?" O'Neal said impatiently. "Five minutes have passed, and all you've done is sarcasm and haven't said a word."
"Let's unite!" Kidd said. "This league wants to promote new talent and have those young superstars take over as the new icons."
"They're dreaming! We're not old yet, the young guys have to wait in line! We'll show that old devil Stern that we're in charge of this league, not him! He wants to promote newcomers, but we won't allow it!"
"You want us to target LeBron James?" Cassell, the old fox, reacted the fastest, stroking his chin as he said, "To avenge your little brother?"
"Let's avenge him and send a warning to the league." Kidd shrugged. "We'll knock the Grizzlies out of the playoffs! Every time we face them, we'll go all out and make them experience playoff intensity in the regular season!"
"Count me in!" Ben Wallace raised his hand and said, "I fucking hate this kind of thing! Fuck you, basketball should be earned through skill, not hype and publicity! We're going to play them after the All-Star game."
"I'm going to beat them by 20 points in this game!"
"Then we win by 21 points." Jermaine O'Neal casually raised his hand. The two guys almost got into a fight in a game during the first month of the regular season, and they didn't like each other.
"We can win by 30 points!" Ben Wallace glared at Jermaine O'Neal.
"31 points!" Jermaine O'Neal said with a mocking and disdainful look.
"You fucking want to get beaten up?" Big Ben braced himself with both hands, trying to overturn the table in front of him.
At the same time, Artest and O'Neal also stood up, and judging from their movements, they also seemed to want to overturn the table.
But a few seconds later, the three of them looked embarrassed.
This table is damn damn hard, nailed to the floor.
"Alright, everyone sit down!" O'Neal, taking ownership, said, "Give Jason one more minute, then we'll start partying!"
"No need," Kidd said. "The Warriors have already stepped up. I think with the help of Indiana and Detroit, that's enough! They can give the Grizzlies at least four blowouts, which should be enough to knock the Grizzlies out of the playoffs."
"Four games aren't enough!" O'Neal protested. "What if they're inconsistent?"
"Who are you calling unstable?" Ben glared at him.
"Shut up, you afro." O'Neal waved his hand. "Add four more games in Los Angeles, and we'll definitely have him under control."
"It's great that Shaq is confident!" Kidd said reassuredly. "Then I don't need to talk to Kobe anymore. I was thinking..."
"What are you thinking!" O'Neal roared. "Finding a Kobe like Dick! What's the point of finding him? He might have to go to court and miss the game against the Grizzlies!"
"You're finished if you rely on him, Jason. I'm telling you, why are you even looking for Kobe? Fuck you! I said we'd sweep, and we mean it! We won't lose a single game, we'll crush those Memphis guys!"
"As for the rest of you, don't worry about this. Just fight as you normally would. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing if you were to brag all the way but still lose to the grizzly bears."
"You can't beat the Grizzlies!" Garnett yelled. "Just watch, we'll sweep that trash this season!"
"Kevin, Kevin," Cassel whispered, "we've already lost one game to them."
Cassell's quiet reminder drew laughter from the other stars present, but Garnett remained unfazed and employed his signature tactic of fighting while retreating: "So what if we lose one game? I'm talking about the rest of the season. We'll sweep them without losing a single game."
"Aren't we still playing two more games? Win by 40 points!"
"Thank you all very much then." Kidd squinted, looking smug. "Tonight's on me!"
"What do you mean, 'treat'?" O'Neal said. "In Los Angeles, who do you think you are to treat? I'll pay!"
"Of course, of course, you come."
""
Kidd chuckled: "I'll treat you again when we go to New York!"
