Lord: I can see loyalty.

Chapter 21 Bridge Blockade Battle

Kuoqiao Village, Giant Bridge.

The few remaining archers from Kuoqiao Village lay in ambush beside Jimmy's militia, their hands trembling uncontrollably as they held their bows and arrows.

"Relax, brother." The middle-aged militiaman patted the archer next to him on the shoulder, which startled him.

The archer looked at the relaxed-looking middle-aged man with fear in his eyes, not understanding why he showed no fear.

"They're just less than fifty bandits. We faced nearly a hundred elite soldiers back then!" The middle-aged militiaman smiled and pointed to another young militiaman beside him: "He was terrified by those bandits back then. Compared to that, this is nothing."

The young militiaman rolled his eyes at him, coughed awkwardly, and said, "I did kill several bandits back then, but I felt a little uneasy afterward..."

The middle-aged militiaman ignored the other party's explanation and instead patted the archer from Kuoqiao Village on the shoulder, saying, "Don't worry, those bandits don't even know we're hiding here."

Before he could say anything more, the young militiaman next to him nudged him with his elbow, and both of them looked ahead.

Two tall figures were walking slowly from the other end of the bridge, one of them carrying an astonishingly large sword on his back!

The middle-aged man immediately raised his bow and aimed at the two men.

The archer from Kuoqiao Village standing nearby squinted, seemingly confirming something, and then quickly spoke up to stop him.

"Wait, everyone! They are soldiers from Kuoqiao Village!"

The militia members were skeptical and didn't put down their bows until an old man next to Jimmy said something to him, and Jimmy waved to them before they put down their bows.

The two figures also noticed the militia and instinctively gripped their weapons, but quickly realized the situation and stepped forward.

"You're the ones sent by the lord of Bordeaux village?" The tall, thin man stared at the dozens of well-equipped militiamen, somewhat surprised.

Jimmy stepped out, glanced at them, and said, "Let's talk downstairs, just in case we attract the attention of those bandits."

Jimmy and two soldiers stood silently on the bank beside the rushing river, surrounded only by the sound of the flowing water.

Jimmy stared at the two men and said, "In that case, you two go and rest. Leave the rest to us."

These two have already taken care of several bandits each; their strength seems quite impressive, Jimmy thought to himself.

"Hmm." Although the tall, thin man had fully recovered, he didn't want to get involved in this mess.

The tall, thin man turned and headed towards the village, but his companions did not follow, so he turned back.

"I will assist you." Glenn took the greatsword off his back, his expression calm.

The tall, thin man seemed somewhat taken aback. He opened his mouth as if to speak, but quickly gave up and turned away.

"This guy, whenever this village is mentioned..."

Jimmy glanced at the tall, thin man walking away, then quickly turned his gaze back to Glenn in front of him.

The opponent was half a head taller than him, and his muscles were comparable to Ansquie's. Only someone with that physique could wield that greatsword.

"In that case, go and assist Ansquie. He'll tell you what to do."

Glenn didn't reply, but quickly returned to the bridge and moved to the other side. Jimmy also returned to his position.

As dawn broke, the archers of Kuoqiao Village, whose emotions had been calmed down, became even more fearful, their hands trembling uncontrollably as they held their bows and arrows.

"Hey, calm down, the bandits haven't shown up yet." The middle-aged militiaman helplessly helped the archer next to him who almost fell over.

"Soon, those guys..." The archer stared intently ahead, swallowing hard. "They'll start attacking the village at daybreak, it's the same every day, too many people have already died..."

The middle-aged militiaman looked in the direction he was looking and seemed to vaguely see several figures. He stopped comforting the archer and slowly raised his bow.

"Everyone, listen up!" Jimmy noticed something in the distance and warned in a low voice.

The frightened archers of Kuoqiao Village stopped talking and simply didn't dare to raise their bows again; some even considered running away.

Not far away, dozens of bandits dressed in various kinds of equipment were swaggering toward the giant bridge. Their successive victories had convinced them that the people of Kuoqiao Village had been terrified.

"Why is no one here to guard the bridge today? Have they all been scared away?" One of the bandits standing next to the leader stared at the other side of the bridge and asked in confusion.

"It's better that they ran away!" the bandit leader sneered, then continued, "The boss's mission was to take over the other side of the village. What can they do if they run away? Are they going to bring reinforcements?"

At this point, the surrounding bandits burst into laughter, and one of them couldn't help but speak up.

"I never imagined it! The day I became a bandit, I thought I'd definitely die somewhere out there." The bandit's face darkened for a moment as if he'd remembered something, but he quickly smiled again: "I never imagined that the entire southern region would become our territory!"

"Once the fortress is captured, do you think the boss will give me a piece of land?"

"What are you thinking? Even if you had one, it wouldn't be your turn!"

The bandits walked onto the giant bridge, chatting and laughing, completely unaware that they were stepping into danger.

Twenty...thirty...thirty-five...

Jimmy silently counted the number of enemies in his mind. It seemed that this group of bandits intended to take over the village in one fell swoop, and almost all of them had been mobilized.

Once the bandit group had completely crossed the bridge, Jimmy took a deep breath, raised his sword, and stood up: "Fire!"

In the blink of an eye, before the bandits could even figure out who the man who had suddenly appeared was, dozens of arrows were already flying towards them!

what--!

A scream erupted. Although the militiamen had not received much archery training, the enemy was positioned too densely, leaving no room for escape.

The bandits who were at the rear and hadn't been hit by arrows also realized what was happening. Seeing that the militia, who were clearly still some distance away, were preparing for the next wave of fire, they decisively fled backward.

However, as soon as they turned around, two tall figures appeared before them, namely Glenn and Ansquie!

Glenn strode forward with his greatsword raised, and with a single horizontal slash, blood and flesh flew everywhere!

Ansquie, along with his militia, kept their distance from Glenn and charged towards the wounded bandits.

The giant bridge instantly became a slaughterhouse of flesh and blood.

In no time at all, all the bandits on this trip had died by swords or arrows.

"Captain Jimmy, it's confirmed. All the bandits on the bridge have been wiped out!"

Without hesitation, Jimmy raised his sword again, pointing it west of the village, and said, "Advance! Cut off that bandit leader's head!"

The militiamen, full of fighting spirit, charged into the small village of Kuoqiao, armed with weapons and led by the villagers.

Jimmy met up with Ansquigren and they began searching for the bandit leader's location.

"Captain, we've spotted a bandit leader to the east!" A militiaman shouted, and Jimmy and his men, led by him, raced towards the bandit leader.

"And who are you!?"

In the crowd, a bandit was surrounded like a trapped beast by several militiamen wielding spears, and the large single-edged sword in his hand was already stained with blood.

"We have been ordered by the lord of Bordeaux village to suppress the bandits!" Ansquie broke the stalemate in the battle, grabbing his sword and shield and charging forward.

The bandit leader tried to fight back, but he was no match for so many people. As soon as he moved, the sharp spear tips pierced his torso.

He roared with a ferocious expression, slashing his broadsword at Ansquie despite the several cold glints of light, only to have it blocked by the opponent's shield.

The militiamen behind him raised their bows, and several arrows pierced through him instantly.

Ansquie raised his knight's sword and, with a powerful right-hand strike, cleaved the bandit leader's head off his throat.
