Lord: I can see loyalty.

Chapter 26 Naval Battle

On the cliff behind the village of Bordeaux, hundreds of militiamen stood silently with their weapons in hand, while archers at the front of the cliff were aiming their longbows at the sea below.

Not far away, two black-sailed warships were breaking through the sea and slowly approaching.

Sweat beaded on Jimmy's forehead as he stared intently at the enemy on the sea. At this distance, he would probably have to wait until the enemy set foot on land before he could fire.

"Archers, prepare!"

As the ship approached the shore, Jimmy raised his sword, held his breath, and shouted, "Fire!"

Whoosh—whoosh—whoosh!

Countless arrows rained down on the enemy, and several bandits who had just disembarked were immediately struck by arrows and fell to the ground. More arrows fell on the boat and the sand.

The remaining bandits rushed out, each holding a round shield and spreading out; there were nearly a hundred of them!

"Damn it, militiamen, set up an ambush on both sides! Don't let them into the village!" Jimmy gritted his teeth, sheathed his sword, and led a few elite soldiers to run to the side.

The enemy would have to flank the village to enter; this could be easily achieved by having men ambush them beforehand…

Jimmy understood this principle, but he didn't have much confidence. The number and quality of the enemies were very high, unlike any enemies they had encountered before.

Screams suddenly rang out, and the battle broke out completely at the edge of the forest.

As the enemy disappeared into the forest and their sight vanished, the archers lost their target and rushed into the woods to join the battle.

Thanks to their familiarity with the terrain, the enemy found it difficult to break through for a while!

At the same time, on the other side of the coast.

Vio stood in front of several militia captains, behind them a large ship gently rocking on the sea.

"My lord! We've made it to sea safely!" Old Barton shouted, waving to Vio from the ship.

Vio listened to the sounds of battle in the distance, his face solemn as he addressed the captains and elite militiamen before him: "Gentlemen, I'm leaving it to you."

After watching them board the ship and slowly advance towards the enemy, Vio turned his attention back to the main battlefield.

"Ugh!" Jimmy swiftly swung his sword and felled a nearby bandit, but several more bandits immediately rushed forward.

One person's strength is ultimately insufficient to change the situation on the battlefield... Jimmy thought to himself, and could only keep retreating, leading the wounded militia in a withdrawal.

call!

Just as Jimmy was giving orders, a bandit broke through the militia's defenses and rushed in front of him, slashing his face with a sharp blade.

But before Jimmy could dodge or defend himself, an iron sword pierced the bandit's chest, then retracted and kicked the corpse aside.

"Lord!?" The one who came to his aid was none other than Lord Vio, who hadn't returned to the battlefield with him.

"Sir, the boat..."

"Success! Counterattack! Create an opportunity for them." Vio nodded, glancing behind him. "And they should be here soon too."

Although Jimmy didn't understand who Vio meant by "them," since the order had been given, he didn't hesitate and said, "All troops, prepare for a counterattack!"

The wounded militiamen retreated under the cover of archers, and a new batch of militiamen quickly took their place.

"kill!"

The bandits were caught off guard by this sudden attack and suffered repeated defeats, but they quickly regrouped and stabilized their lines.

The battlefield was once again at a stalemate.

"Vio, I was just mentioning it casually, and you've already come to collect your debt so quickly..." A familiar old man's voice came from the back of the group.

"Uncle? You've finally arrived!" Vio's eyes lit up with joy, and not only that, Gina was also following behind him.

The old mage Valentine squinted at the bandits not far away, frowning slightly: "There are quite a few of them... Troublesome."

After saying that, he raised the wooden staff in his hand and began to shake it. Wherever the staff passed, it left behind green powder that slowly drifted away.

As if possessed, the green powder swam towards the militiamen behind it and landed on the wound.

The next moment, those horrifying scars began to heal!

While everyone was still in shock, Valentine's magic did not stop. After creating a sufficient amount of green dust, he pointed his staff forward and began to slowly chant.

A complex array of light rapidly expanded from beneath his feet, spreading across the land and climbing up the tree trunks.

"Ah!" A heart-wrenching scream erupted from the bandits.

"They have magic?!"

"Get out of the forest! Back to the beach!"

The surrounding trees seemed to come alive, sprouting new branches and leaves that pierced the bandits. Although they were unlikely to be fatal, they still had a terrible killing power.

As the enemy retreated from the mountains in disarray, Vio did not order his men to pursue them immediately. Instead, he sent his archers back to higher ground, and the remaining militia split into two groups to launch a counterattack.

"A ship is coming this way!"

On the black-sailed warship, the bandits with bows also noticed the large ship rapidly approaching from not far away, and quickly changed their target to shoot at the ship.

However, the militiamen on the ship were prepared and set up several large shields, then accelerated again!

boom--!!!

The heavy impact shook the sea. The two ships collided, and even another black-sailed warship was affected and nearly capsized. The bandits holding bows and arrows could not keep their aim and had to give up firing.

Immediately afterwards, the elite militiamen, led by their captain, stepped onto the deck of the ship and jumped onto the enemy's vessel, launching a one-sided attack.

The boarding action has begun.

Almost simultaneously, the battle on the beach also took a dramatic turn. The bandits, wounded in the forest, had just retreated to an open area when the archers on the cliff and the militia on both sides launched an attack.

As soon as the first round of shooting ended, Gina's figure flashed into the enemy ranks like lightning. Wherever her sword flashed, the bandits' round shields were rendered useless, like paper. Her arrival created an opening in the enemy ranks.

Jimmy didn't let the opportunity slip by and immediately ordered, "Push them down! Don't give them a chance to breathe!"

Valentine struck the ground with his staff again, this time without any fancy spells or incantations, only a faint light passing through the charging militia.

The militiamen charging at the forefront felt a surge of strength beneath their feet, and their weary limbs were suddenly filled with renewed vigor.

After doing all this, the old mage's face turned slightly pale; clearly, his magical power was almost exhausted.

On the black-sailed warship, the boarding action had become one-sided. Seeing that the main battle was also in full swing, the remaining bandits threw down their weapons and the corpses of their comrades and jumped into the sea to rush towards another black-sailed ship.

The bandits on the beach finally broke down and were about to turn back and flee when the only remaining warship was also attacked by the militia captains, resulting in fierce fighting.

Vio breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the enemy army flee in disarray. The sea breeze, carrying the stench of blood, blew in his face. As he watched the black sails of the last warship being removed, he felt no joy of victory.

Bordeaux village held out, but Vio knew very well that this would not be the last black sail.
